I visited this studio a few weeks ago to take a clay mini snowman class and I fell in love with the place! The owners/artists are so kind, patient, and welcoming. This place has the cutest little bar up front and their Taiwan mango beer is delicious! We got free drinks while taking the class, and our instructor focused on myself and my friend and made us feel so welcome, not like horrible clay workers, and like we were old friends. I enjoyed my time at stARTup, not only for the fun clay play and the silly little snowman I made, but because I felt like they wanted me to be there, I felt so at home in this place I'd never been before. I would not recommend doing the Macon market. For the price paid, there was very little traffic. Even less in the back room.

This place is awesome! My family and I happened to be in town visiting during the weekend of their grand opening. If you're an artist in Macon, this is where you want to be. If you're not an artist but you're in Macon, you'll still want to check this place out like we did! They offer art classes to all ages in glass art and ceramics. There's also a metalworker with some really cool large sculptures and several other artists with gallery booths (photography, painting, origami, casting, etc). There are definitely some really impressive higher-end pieces of artwork for sale but most of the stuff is very reasonably priced. Also a great place to pick up a gift item. Especially for cat lovers, since the ceramics artist has a ton of super cute cat items! The glass artist has some really cool beer steins, which we picked up while there. The owners, a husband and wife, are the artists that give the classes and they're both fantastic! Bryan, the glass artist, gives great instructions and explanations throughout the whole process. He's very in control, which makes all the glass and heat/fire a lot less intimidating. Yen-Ting, the ceramics artist, is really patient and creative. She helps guide you along, giving you the freedom to create what you like while also providing really helpful tips and ideas. She has these really cool stamps you can use to make impressions on your ceramics piece and she created all the stamps herself, out of clay! Both my 6-year-old and my 8-year-old attended a class with me. Bryan and Yen-Ting were equally great with my kids and my kids LOVED this experience! Being into my art myself, if I lived in the area this would be a dream place to work! They rent out studio space so other artists can set up shop right there, making it a fun place to collaborate and hang out with other artists. Another cool thing is that it's always open to the public, so anyone can walk in any time they're open just to watch the artists in action or peruse the art for sale. Very cool! Oh yea! Don't forget to use their bathroom! Lol I say that because, they have a large black wall in the back of the studio leading to the bathroomsand they have silver sharpies for people to sign their name or leave a note. My wife and I decided to try the glass blowing date night class and it was incredible! The owners of this studio do a fantastic job. We had such a fun time and they taught very well. I would recommend this to anyone interested in hands on art projects. It was such a stress free way to experience a new medium! We will be coming back to try other classes read more

The COOLEST experience blowing glass! Instructor Bryan was amazing, and my kids made Clay mugs for my wife. Everything came out amazing and it was a lot of fun! Very quick to receive our handmade items, and communication was clear the whole way through. DEFINITELY recommend doing these classes, as it's unique, fun and you create something very cool! read more

Boring place and just horrible atmosphere and the staff aren't the most friendly people

very fun environment. the owners are really good and authentic people. we go there every so often when we're in the city and the they are always very welcoming and give us a little tour of the place and the artists. We've done couple glassblowing classes as well and those items are still at our house being used everyday. read more

This is one of the coolest places to go in Macon, in my humble opinion. Brian and Yen Ting are not only exceptionally skilled artists (Brian with glass and metal and Yen Ting with all things ceramic) but they are great people to spend time around. They now offer all kinds of unique and tasty beers. Brian and Yen Ting both teach classes and there are also many different events that get hosted on a regular basis. The cool art you can buy there is almost unlimited and I have to hold myself back every time because I want to buy so many pieces. If you are near downtown and want a cool, one-of-a-kind place to visit, I'd suggest going over to StARTup Studios and hanging out with some very nice people. read more

Signed up for a cake stand creating (clay) class the end of September that was $75.00 x 4 people. Class and instructor were great. Received an email on 11/6 that the stands were ready but unfortunately in the process one cake stand did not make it. In the email it stated for the delay, they are offering 50% off a future class for our group. I called and spoke to Bryan about reimbursement for the $75 and he stated reimbursement was not possible due to instructor already being paid and WE have to be aware sometimes items do not make it in the process. So I paid $75 for a class and did not receive an item. I was not told that going into the class. Please be aware you might not get what you pay for. read more
