Since I'm a student, I'm constantly looking for the best deals for any and everything, including gyms/workout classes. I have yet to find a workout as satisfying or inexpensive as Dynamics boot camp classes. You can get a single class for $7.50 or a 10 class pack for $60. You can also share your classes with other people, so you could split a pack with someone, which not many places allow you to do! I have yet to leave this place without shaking a bit and already knowing I'll be very sore the next day. No matter how many people are in the class (I've been in classes with as many as 30 or as few as 6), it's always a good workout. I've also taken classes from a few of the different trainers and love them all. They each have a slightly different style, but you'll get a great total body workout no matter what. The last thing I love about these classes is that there is ZERO judgement from anyone - your fellow attendees or the trainers. The trainers always give options for modifications or show ways to make the move easier (or harder). Everyone is going through the class to the best of their ability and all classes are completed with clapping and high fives all around. The trainers even make sure to go around to everyone and give them a high five and say "good job!" Seriously check this place out if you can!!!

It's easy to get to, located just outside of the main tourist and traffic area of downtown, and very rarely do I have any trouble parking. What truly sets SH/FT apart though are the trainers, who quite honestly have become more like family and friends for my husband and I (as well as many of the other members). Not only are the trainers highly educated in health and fitness, but they are constantly improving their knowledge and techniques. For me this has provided an incredibly dynamic personal training program that has given me results that I could have never imagined possible. I have never felt so fit, so motivated and so strong - while also constantly being challenged to take it to the next level. And coming from someone who has been working out since about age 5 this is a pretty bold and authentic statement. This attention to detail also carries over into small group training and classes, where the workouts are always challenging, creative and planned with an ultimate goal of full body fitness in mind. Between the personal training and small group classes, I am excited to attend session because it's fun, challenging and improving my health and wellness. I have been working out at Shift for about 2 years and the change has been incredible for me. We all need to exercise to live a healthy life and I feel fortunate that Shift keeps me motivated and having fun while exercises. Their facility is incredibly clean, bright and welcoming. The restrooms have showers lockers and amenities. There are Pelotons bikes, treadmills, free weights, smith machines, TRX bands and not to mention highly educated instructors that are complete geeks about body mechanics and training.

Jessica has Cardio Tabata class Mondays at 6pm which I would describe as cardio/strength interval training where people rotate between different exercise stations. It is a great workout and keeps your blood pumping and heart rate up throughout the class. On Wednesdays at 6pm, she does a strength bootcamp class which is similar to Mondays class. We use free weights, interval training, "yoga bands" I'm not sure what they're called haha. Classes are a lot of fun and it's a great atmosphere, everyone is really welcoming to newcomers and very friendly. I've only been going for about a month and I can feel myself getting stronger, and I've lost about 10 lbs (I've been eating healthier, too). Jessica is a great instructor, and she also meets with people one-on-one for personal fitness training. At Back Cove they offer other services as well, you can receive individual personal fitness instruction, fitness rehabilitation, senior fitness, metabolic recovery, ski fitness, stroller fitness, and posture alignment (check out their website/facebook page for class schedules). After my "gym tour" with the one of their very kind staff members, I knew I had found my new local spot for workouts. The gym itself is quite big. It has two levels, with most cardio machines being on the first floor and the weights/dumbbells on the second level. I've been going for a few months now, and these are some of my favorite things: - Always clean - Lots of locker space - All machines have been working flawlessly - They follow Covid-19 protocols, so certain machines are blocked off - 24 hour access (!!!!) - Lots of machines, so I never have to wait around to use a tread, for example - Doesn't get too crowded even during peak hours For $15, I get a LOT more than what I expected. I can cancel at anytime and I didn't even have to pay a fee upfront. They do charge you a $39 one-time fee during the first 30 days of signing up, which apparently locks in your membership price in case of any increases in the future. You can also upgrade your membership to their "premium" version which includes tanning, access to the Theragun and a few other perks.

Unfortunately, this was February of last year. I signed up and had just gotten started - was loving it - and then the pandemic shut things down. I was able to keep working out at home and then over the summer I would go to the gym and Jess (the absolute best trainer) would take me through my workout outside! As the weather got colder I'm back working out at home but Jess is there with me on FaceTime - coaching, cajoling, keeping me focused. This isn't a 'fancy pants' kind of gym. He truly cares about each client. The spin classes are high energy there are approx 20 bikes and you reserve your spot in classes (all classes offered even bootcamps) through the app or website. I love this feature because the classes are never over crowded! You've got to try the kettlebell classes. John is certified as master kettlebell instructor and he keeps a close eye on proper form. This is so important and often overlooked in overcrowded classes. John and his wife Pam are very helpful, take advantage of the free assessments you sign up for these with the app as well!
