This off-the-beaten path pub for those unfamiliar with the area made our day while meandering through the intertwining streets and thoroughfares of Mayfair, where it seems there's a pub on every corner, including this one at the end of what we call an alley way. It was a great respite as we apparently beat the lunch grub bunch. This place is huge - I mean, huge. More like a beer hall than pub really. Lots of room both inside and outside with comfy seating in the old style. A fab-looking bar, with the shelves super stocked with almost any kind of booze imaginable. The design goes from beer hall to classic to contemporary in design. The atmosphere is nice and conducive to chilling out - with a wide variety of seating (chairs, booths, stools, benches and more). We sat down to relax. My wife ordered a St. Roux Rose wine and I had (for the first time ever) a Camden Pale Ale (really, really great) as well as the expected Fish & Chips. Excellent. This was one of the few pubs I've visited that is geared for drinking, mingling, belly-upping, eating, as well as dancing into the night. The folks on staff were super nice and courteous, the meal was very good, the atmosphere rustic, slightly old-fashion (as most London Pubs are) and it all came to a wonderful, albeit brief interlude. And it's a seven-day-a-week bar! We enjoyed our brief adventure here, but off we went seeking another experience down the road. Job well done Starman - when we return to London, I do plan returning! read more
