Laid down vocals and 12-string guitar for a folky track. Danny B. the engineer I worked with was incredible - really flexible and meticulous with understanding my vision and making it happen. Did a three-mic setup for the guitar - and it sounds INCREDIBLE. Highly recommend for recording anything from simple folky acoustic all the way up to full band and everywhere in between. This place is straight up legit and captured my music in a way I'm not sure other studios could have. Again highly recommend working with Danny if you can. I've been producing on Ableton for a few years, and I was specifically looking to work with someone in studio to learn and improve my mixes in general. I spent a few hours with Chris in his Oakland studio and learned so much during that time. It was one of the most informative sessions I've had since I started making music! Chris shared numerous different techniques and workflow tips with me while making suggestions and helping refine my track. It's clear that he's an expert in Ableton, but is also generous in sharing his knowledge. After our in-person session, we collaborated for another week or so via phone/e-mail through the mastering process. Throughout this process, he was thorough, patient, and gave invaluable feedback and recommendations - all while communicating effectively. Something I really appreciate about working with Chris is that he makes suggestions and gives honest feedback, but also makes sure that he respects the original vision for what the track should sound like. He makes suggestions but never pushes or makes it feel like you're straying or altering your original track. I look forward to working with Chris again! Highly recommend Mothership Studio.

El Cerrito Studio was the ideal recording experience, and I look forward to returning many times in…read morethe future. As a harpist, many studios are flummoxed by how hard it is to capture the real sound of my instrument - Oscar dialed it in right away. The studio itself is brand new with 2 recording booths and a clear line of vision for isolation work. One booth is medium sized and would fit up to an instrumental trio I would say, the other very large with a grand Yamaha fitting up to 8 performers approximately - just guesses. All the equipment looked brand new and the sound, the most important thing, I was thrilled with. Both the neighborhood and all the soundproofing allow total silence, which has previously been a difficulty in other studios. Not an issue at El Cerrito Studio, where we could work fast and keep all the magic. Kenya is a true host, putting me instantly at ease with her charming and welcoming personality. There's a resting area with beverages and snacks, plus their garden out back is wonderful to re-energize in. Parking is easy. In total, Kenya and Oscar work as a perfect team in setting the stage for a great recording plus delivering on the final result.

She is gentle but strict, and assigns very little homework which she doesn't take too seriously. Her teaching methods are kind and patient, and she's done wonders for me. I highly recommend taking lessons with her, she'll take you very far. From me: Susie has been a really excellent choice for a kid who leans toward pop music. She does a great job of making sure that my daughter does her theory homework (without being a taskmaster about it) and learns to sight read, which is great, because my kid inherited my ear and could easily skate through just memorizing what she hears and not be able to sight read later in life. I wish that Susie had been my teacher - I'd probably be able to read sheet music! LOL We've seen a lot of progress with both piano proficiency and my daughter being able to sing and play at the same time, which is fun to watch and listen to. Overall, highly recommend. As a bonus, my kid gets to truthfully tell her friends that she has a rock 'n roll piano teacher who played keyboards for Billy Idol and Mick Jagger. Sweeeeet.
