The owner has a passion for tea and you truly come to understand that trying her teas as well as talking to her. She also has a passion as an epicure. While I was there, I wanted to order one of her poke bowls. She insisted that I order the poke bowl du jour which had the typical poke ingredients. But on that particular day, it also had marinated raw steak. I was afraid to try it but she insisted so I did, and you know what?? I really liked it! It turns out she owns a gourmet restaurant, Cocottes et Bouchons, where she serves traditional French cuisine typical of Lyonnaise cuisine. Go there for dinner for it is a treat you should not miss. The meal was very healthy, it came with quinoa salad and carrot slaw. Light, but a good little bit of protein for the vegetarian option. The Golden milk was very nice, the turmeric and ginger balanced out nicely, so it wasn't overwhelming. It helped me feel a little better and is a great way to warm up. They have a combo meal deal- drink, lunch plate, and dessert, but Golden milk isn't included with this option. My friend split her pistachio cake with me and it was delicious! I love pistachio anything- so it was a nice treat. It's a small and cozy little cafe and a nice place to take a break after touring the Palace.

The two items we ordered were both SO good. We ordered some sort of toast that has almond butter, hazelnut butter, jam, and coconut flakes. It had the perfect amount of sweetness to satisfy a slight morning sweet tooth. The other item we ordered was the bowl of the month (or maybe it's the bowl of the week?) It, too, was wonderful, and so filling! Grounded is really cute and cozy inside, but I will say that it was HOT in this small space. Also, there isn't much seating in here. I grabbed a flaky pistachio pastry and a classic baguette for the road, and both were absolutely heavenly - buttery, fresh, and full of that perfect French flavor. My husband went for their ham and cheese croissant and couldn't stop raving about how crispy and gooey it was. The staff was super friendly even though our French is terrible, and everything felt warm and welcoming. We ended up taking a few extra treats back to the hotel because we just couldn't resist. If you're anywhere nearby, definitely make the detour - it's the real deal! We're already dreaming about going back.

But they execute well and the breads and pastries are good. If you are in the neighborhood or staying close by...it is worth your time to stop by.
