The service is friendly and the place is clean. However I feel the baristas are hardly trained. I've gotten several lattes and they are so far below any local coffee shop. Today's had no foam at all. It almost seemed like a hot chocolate. I keep trying but they just can't get it. read more

Probably the slowest Starbucks I've ever been to which I expect if there is a long line, however this happens regardless of how busy they are. If you are looking for a quick coffee run, it's best to go anywhere else. Also, I expect coffee shops to be up and running by morning time, but this Starbucks (even though there opening hours online say 0430) was closed at 0700. read more

Sadly enough this is the only Starbucks in Sumter. If there were more I would go to a different one. The orders are 90% accurate so that is good. The customer service for the most part is good. Courteous and courteous and efficient. However, picture this. You spend all day at work looking forward to having an iced coffee at Starbucks. You arrive at the Starbucks and there is a hand written sign at the door that says "online orders only". So sad. You have the money, you are a loyal customer, but cannot have what you want. They are supposedly under staffed. I don't think this is an excuse not to serve the customers that are going into the store. I will be hesitant to go there again. read more

I don't like to leave reviews like this, but this was terrible. gave the wrong drink so i sent it back... no big deal. BUT when i told her it was wrong she huffed and puffed and said just said ok like it was my fault they made the wrong drink. when she brought it back out there was no sorry or anything just pushed open the window and rudely handed the drink to me. Then i look at the cup and there's hair on the cup. I love this Starbucks. Just moved to Sumter and can't get internet service for several days so I came here to get work done. Great wifi, great ambiance, better food and drinks. I frequent this location because ..well it's the only one in my city. There's so much room for improvement and I'd say the majority of my visits here leave me unsatisfied. Today I was not given my complete order, an item was missing. The bakery items that I requested to be warmed for good measure (even though they automatically are warmed) were barely warm. I also asked about redeeming my points just for a specific item and the question wasn't answered but instead my reward points were deducted inaccurately. The line is always very long. I am not sure if they're short staffed. I have really high hopes for this location and have had for a very long time. I hope they can make the necessary changes for a better customer experience. It is my friend's birthday today, and she hasn't had her app long enough to receive her free birthday drink, but Lindsay (the store manager) gave her the free birthday drink anyway. Standard Starbucks offerings delivered at a very slow pace. It would appear they cater more to their drive through customers than those who walk in. However, after waiting almost 15 minutes (with no line in front of us) we got our order. Each drink was made made correctly and matched the order. The barista was very polite, but super slow (like 1/4 speed ). Unfortunately, if someone wants good coffee in Sumter there are very few coffee shop choices. read more

I have absolutely no problems with this location. Everything is perfect! The food is great and the service is great!

Only complaint was that they don't take orders inside. You can only order through the app or do drive through. Also noticed they don't really update what's available and what isn't on the app and it's the same for a few days at a time. Other than that, drinks are good and staff is friendly. read more

Quite possibly one if the worst run Starbucks in the state. I have regularly waited at the drivethru so long i had to drive around to see if they were closed. As often as not, they are 'out if that' when I place orders. How you can run out consitently if your core products, I will never understand, it's managements job to ensure supply for customers. A few hours later (after a meltdown and a good cry) I got a call from Starbucks who had held on to the purse and got it returned to me! I was so upset after I went to starbucks today:( I went for the free holiday cup with a holiday beverage purchase and I chose a drink of the list that qualifies for the free cup. After ordering I asked the cashier if I got a cup VERY NICELY and she told me no it only comes with holiday beverages. So since I ordered a drink off the list on purpose I pulled up the website to show her that it did qualify STILL VERY NICELY. Starbucks is a Starbucks... all of their products taste the same no matter what location you go to. I love Starbucks hot chocolate, but that is not why I am writing this review. This location is brand new, so it looks immaculate, the interior is nicely decorated and their drive-thru functional. However, despite this location's shininess the staff needs a little help. Despite negative press, the Sumter Starbucks goes above and beyond. They gladly make our very complicated drinks and never balk. A barista, Shanna, who is often at the drive thru window (but not today), took time to greet us and tell us she had been thinking of us. While we don't live in Sumter, we often have errands, drs appointments or even hair appointments to tend to and a drive thru Starbucks is a must. No excuses. We love it there. One of my biggest addictions of all time. They have a super friendly staff. They are very popular therefore their drive-through lines can be a little long but I use the mobile app to pre-order and my order is always ready when I walk in just to pick up and leave I would definitely recommend this place for your mandatory morning coffee needs. Going into the store it's really underwhelming. I take my coffee without cream or sugar I usually say black and I have to explain what that is every single time but they recently hired a new person at the drive-thru window who is extraordinary. She's really really nice she's super polite and she double checks that she got your order correct, which I hadn't experienced before they hired her. And then she repeats her order back to you again and gives you the price, which I hadn't experienced before they hired her. I have had many very pleasurable experiences at this Starbucks however today I went in with my husband and we both felt very uncomfortable with what happened. Hannah, a supervisor at this location, was unnecessarily rude to an employee. Hannah raised her voice at an employee that was doing exactly as she was asked to do. This was done in the middle of Hannah completing my order and handing it to me. This is not only unprofessional but also very degrading to her subordinates. My African American husband felt that this employee may have been target because of her race/ethnicity. We were informed that Hannah may have just been having a bad day when we called to inquire about this incident. Starbucks has been branded to be inclusive and racially ethic, supervisors should understand that perception is everything. They do take their precious time to make your drink. If you're in a hurry, don't even bother. I can't even count how many times they gave me a wrong drink at the drive-thru. Some of the baristas are unfriendly and rude. They made me feel like they are doing me a favor to re-make my drink when I came in the store to tell them that they gave me a wrong drink at the drive-thru, and will give you attitude and excuses for it. Well, here we are.. another starbucks... certainly a good thing for Sumter, but whomever designed the GIS behind the location should really have their liscense looked at, because from a traffic standpoint, its a confusing mish mash to navigate your way through this area which is right next to a dentists office And Lowes...If you think about it, that must have been some kind of funny joke to put a dentists office next to a coffee shop. Have a Latte before you get your teeth whitened? hmmm.. or on the other hand, have your teeth whitened only to ruin it with a double shot of espresso. ok, I digress... having been to a few starbucks, the models of each are somewhat similar, and also very different. assuming what the owner can afford or not changes the way or size of the space ends up looking. this Starbucks is pretty plain, and its acoustically a nightmare. why do I seem to be concentrating on this more than the edible fair? well.. because for more than a few people, starbucks is a place to go to write that "novel" you been working on, finish that associates degree in medical assistant training, or sit and have a conversation , read the paper, and in this place, it looks and feels more like a Costa Rican Hostel for wayward teens with communal style tables being the center piece which almost gets in the way of the smaller more private sitting areas which most starbucks seem to carve out. Because of this, it seems from the few times I have been there, that people dont relax much.. they go in, order, and get out. will this hurt their business? I doubt it from the standpoint that they will continue to have walk-ins and drive thru customers, but that doesnt mean it doesnt really have much else to offer in the amibience world. it certainly doesn't. Now as for the Service, I've been there about 5 times so far, and its a real mixed bag. I grant the newness factor and employees still getting acquainted to it all, but there are some obvious issues at hand here. one of them is attention to details... its a coffee shop, so its kind of important for most people to make sure that a person gets what they ordered to the appropriate temperatures, and or garnishes that accompany the particular liquid of choice. I can tell already that there are more than a few people that work there that just dont really care too much.. its a common theme in this town.. a decent amount of the 19-25yr olds working there, and this is not to say "all" but definately a few, just dont really even care, they rather be listening to their ear buds watching are we there yet. or some other brand of TBS / USA humor instead of concentrating on keeping the starbucks image up to par. I was evident in the consistently "off pudding" ( I dropped some Chopped Lingo there) way of preparing a Iced Caramel Macciato. Sometimes the Milk had been sitting out, and you could tell based on its temperature. Another time I recieved a Hot Macciato when the reciept clearly said Iced. No big deal, it happens and I get that sometimes. This has all to do with how people are managed, so I figure for the first review of this place, I would say, look its starbucks, you generally know what to expect.. the cakes are standard and never bad.. but its about the coffee too.. and if you find that people don't really care about what they are doing, it shows. So this review for the sake of the food should be a 4 ... for the sake of the Coffee and Service a 3. could use some work. Hopefully its a work in progress. read more

I'm typically one to rave about Starbucks.. Granted, this is a baby 'Bucks and is fairly new. I've had a 50/50 experience here. My first visit? I swore I wouldn't come back. Between the rude CSR and the blunder with my coffee.. No way. But I said "Hey, they're new, let's give it another go." Visits this far have been good, up until my last one a few days ago. Coffee: Spot on! But! Some employees have attitudes and don't hold their tongues in front of customers. One showed her behind when corrected on a coffee blend by what I'm assuming was a superior, mumbling and muttering.. Starbucks has always been a pleasant place for me to go but I'm more inclined to avoid this one and stick with ones in Columbia. Always takes a ridiculous amount of time to get your drink. Employees are heard complaining of wanting to go home or or feeling well. While I was waiting inside for my drink (the drive thru was super long and there were 2 people ahead of me inside but I waited 10 minutes for my venti drink) I took a look at the counter and floors and was a bit disgusted.
