It was a fairly pleasant day in early September so I'm not convinced having the heating on full blast was totally necessary, and my sister kept accidentally catching her arm on it. That's not much of a complaint though, just an odd observation. I love the look and feel of the place, especially the drawings on the far wall. I mentioned to my sister that I thought it was affiliated with Federal in Manchester. She asked one of the staff who told her they're totally independent of each other but that the owner of Tamper helped the guys from Federal set up. This really shows in the decor, atmosphere and menu of both places. We each ordered a flat white. When they arrived they were lovely to look at, and delicious too. My sister ordered the Big Ozzie breakfast, and I ordered the smashed avocado on sourdough with poached eggs and halloumi. My dish was really beautifully presented. It came with a sweet chilli cucumber salsa, which is not necessarily something I would have chosen to go with the dish, but worked really well. My sister really enjoyed her breakfast as well. I tried a bit of the sausage patty and the hash brown and they were both delicious, really nicely seasoned. We didn't have any cake as we were fit to burst but there was a huge selection and everything looked lovely. I would definitely return and would recommend.

I blame Mr. Snarky as he didn't do shopping for my birthday gift when he did Christmas shopping. When we first came into the mall, we stopped to talk about where and when to meet up and I noticed Coffika... a new cafe where there used to be a Costa. After doing some shopping, we met up, but Mr. Snarky said that there were queues of traffic and suggested we stop at one of the cafes and wait a bit when traffic might ease up. I suggested we try Coffika, especially as this was right next to the exit we had parked near. They have some lovely sandwiches, unique cold drinks (Root Beer and Cream Soda), and obviously some very nice looking cakes :). I decided to have tea and noticed that they had cakes resembling Lamingtons... which I only knew about because Work BFF (remember her?!) had told me about them. So I decided to try the Sour Cherry and Pistachio one... although they had called it something else... scrummington maybe? Anyway, Mr. Snarky decided on a slice of the Victoria Sandwich. There are some tables and chairs downstairs, or you could retreat to the quiet and calm of upstairs... not many people know it is there. Upstairs there are sofas and coffee tables. I didn't try the Victoria Sandwich, but the lamington was really nice. It was so moist and I liked the Pistachio flavour, I just think it could have done with a few more sour cherries on top. The chocolate on the outside was really nice and probably helped keep the cake moist. I noticed they also had one in a coffee flavour... so I will probably be back. It is a nice change from all of the coffee chains in the mall and I would highly recommend it.
