I was looking for the DJ.. (which may not be a bad idea) The food was pretty good. I tried the Goat Cheese and Fig jam burger on sourdough with regular fries and it was great. The burger was particularly flavorful and the combination of the cheese with the fig jam was brilliant. The fries were fresh and crispy, however I was sad that they didn't have some kind of aoli or chili mayo. That has been a highlight of being in Europe as is it my absolute favorite side sauce that Europe has seemed to perfect and since it can be found everywhere I was surprised that they didn't have it here. The lemonade was good and the cute glasses were a nice touch. They really have the esthetics down. The fries could use some more variety and excitement and a little more diversity and creativity with the sauces but other than that the service, Atmosphere and all around experience was great. I will be back for sure.

There is quite a difference between the way Americans and Germans make their burgers. I am a…read moreEuropean / American and I like both styles. These burgers are the best American version burgers you can find in Essen. The meat is NOT overly seasoned and it seems that it does not contain any onions, pork or any additional veggies that Germans sometimes use to make their authentic burgers and Frikadellen. Therefore, I say these burgers are so juicy, grilled well, great, tasty, well done (if you like your burger medium less done, just ask). The buns are "normal" white bread and dark. These burgers always remind us of home. The staff is professional and helpful. We normally get a big bottle of water, two burgers and fries to share. There is no American senf / mustard on the table, only dijon-like European version, so please note that, but there is plenty of ketchup etc. The "secret" sauce that the restaurant uses on the bun is like In-n-Out burger sauce. Anyway: the best American burger in Essen!

I appreciate the option to order a pound of fries (mixed), which I think was the first time I've seen something like this in Europe. Plus, you have four different sauces to use, including a unique orange (?) mustard. However, the deduction is due to the quality of my chicken burger. It was hard to eat the burger mainly because the bottom side of the chicken was overcooked/dry, so it was hard to cut and chew. If fried properly, it should be juicy and tender. I tried some of my friend's beef burger and it was good, so you may have a similar experience only if you get their chicken burger.

This is an American bar in the sense that if you came to America as a tourist, this is the kind of…read moreterrible place a jerky local would send a foreign tourist as a joke to get them out of their hair. In America, or Chicago at least, no one who's of legal drinking age and has any sort of respect for themselves goes to places like this. Bars like this are reserved for people who are freshly 21 and don't know any better, freshly divorced and looking to slum it, or for tourists who got got tricked into coming here. In this case, we were the Americans-in-Germany version of the latter. Our guide took us here thinking we'd be impressed with this 'American' bar. Obviously, that didn't happen. For any Chicagoans reading this, this bar is located in the Viagra Triangle of Düsseldorf and this place (along with all it's neighbors) would be the 'Mothers'... but at least we know where to send our guide when he visits Chicago next. Payback, for sure. The clientele seemed mostly older, divorcee-aged, though there were a few younger tables. The main level is sticky and standing room only and the crowd goes wild for songs that are perpetually lame to everyone in America besides mid-life crisis suffering suburbanites and people who enjoy piano bars. Songs like 'Who let the dogs out?', anything from Papa Roach and/or Nickelback, new-ish Bon Jovi releases, Lou Bega's 'Mambo #5', and more... but not ironically. A music video mash-up that did not match the songs that were actually being spun played on the overhead flat-screens. I was a particularly big fan of the Aretha Franklin video in black and white, Usher live in concert, and a raunchy Rihanna video. I'm not sure what the 3 had to do with each other, but it was fun to try and guess what the person who did mix them together was thinking. Our guide noted that they mix a mean Redbull vodka, but since the rest of us value our lives and do our best to not mix our uppers and downers, we all just opted for a straight beer. No surprise here with an altbier, but we sucked it up since were heading to Belgium the next day and knew we wouldn't have to drink any more light beers the rest of the trip. Maybe I'm being too harsh, but keep in mind we also came here sober. It's probably a lot better to come here after you've already spent a sizable amount of time imbibing.

I tried the bbq western burger and fig goat cheese burger (both around 7.50 EUR). Both were alright, though I think the beef patties were overcooked. Also ordered some juice, but at 4.50 a pop for not-fresh pressed juice, I don't think they're really worth it. The best part about it is the location. They have so much outdoor seating right across from the Medienhafen, so it's a tempting place to soak up sunny days.

I can't understand how they can call themselves a burgerbar when there is no love for the food. The slice of raw red onion was thicker than the meat itself same goes for the tomatoes. So you end up thinking you have a sandwich with onion and tomato instead of a burger. The meat and the bun are also very dry. There was no allergy information at the salad on the menu and it was ok when asking. so when it turned out when they served the salad and i saw something which i am highly allergic to and said something about it the other waiter went angry that i had to check the menu before ordering something which was incredibly rude. Especially in the summer it's almost impossible to find a parking spot or a place to sit. People park their cars a few hundred metres down the road. The place is popular amongst bikers and sports fans come here to watch soccer games on the screen. Smoking is prohibited in the main restaurant but there's an indoor patio with long tables and benches where you can smoke. Kinda like a beer garden. In the summer you can sit on the huge outdoor patio, too. They have a typical American menu with heaps of burgers, pizzas, meats and salads to choose from. You'll also find typical pub food like onion rings and mozzarella sticks on the menu. The food is amazing!!! I have only tried their vegetarian food but comin here often I can speak for my meat-loving friends too. It's so good I'd actually kill for one of their veggie burgers right now. It's hard to find places that sell veggie burgers at all. The only reason I dont come here as often as I'd like to are the prices. Burger prices range between €4.95 (Hamburger) and €12.95 (Burn Out Burger Giant XXXL). The price is for the burger only. No side or salad. Dips cost extra. So if u get potato wedges for example u pay an extra €1.45 just for a little bowl of sour cream. That's the price for most dips (Garlic Sauce, BBQ Sauce etc.). There's a few cheaper ones for either €0.45 or €0.95. BUT if all you need is ketchup then you'll be happy to hear that there's complimentary ketchup bottles on the tables at least. Pizzas (24cm) cost about €7. The finger food is rather expensive. Drinks aren't that cheap either. Still it's definitely a place worth goin to! So if you're in the area or you wanna take your bike for a ride come check it out. You won't regret it!

For the locals, seems to be pretty popular among the biker community. I would have not known or gone to this area unless was work related, so it was ok for me.

However, they were COLD. Nicely seasoned. Salsa had exceptional heat and taste. And aioli tasted like yogurt. Big disappointment on that one. "Almost nothing frozen." Said the owner. Did not have to wait too much on receiving my entrée. Burrito Werde. Massive portion but for a very good price. Potatoes extremely hot. Not seasoned evenly but good exterior. Not soggy. The Food was also hot. Tasted quite nice. But far too oily. Way too much oil. The meat was easy to chew and not overcooked. Great seasoning and color on the burrito. Salad that came with it. Dressing is standard. Good. Cucumbers far too thick. Literally an inch thick. Room for improvement. Prices in general are amazing for what you receive here which is worth another star instead of three. Ordered a drink at the end. "Sex on the beach". Drink did not arrive in a more fancy glass as expected. Very plain. But the taste was there. It is worth it for the low price.
