First visit I walked to the store. Wasn't spectacular. More than necessary amount of employees on a Sunday morning. They were loud and joking to where I could hear over my music playing softly as I read my book in a corner with my chai and breakfast food. Today however, was told instantly at drive up could not hear me no matter how loud I talked at the speaker. I pulled around to the window and was told she could not talk to me or take my order at the window. So hearing impaired individuals cannot be accommodated if she cannot talk to anyone at the window. I have been here a few times in the past but I wanted to write a review for my most recent visit. I walked in with my sister and my friend and ordered my drink and told the cashier that it was my birthday. She was so kind and decorated my cup. Then when my sister went to order two more birthday cake pops (after ordering one previously which she so kindly gave to me), the other lady gave them to her on the house. The rent must be too damn high for Starbucks taste in the vicinity of Cape May, NJ as this is the only one of their star crossed coffee houses anywhere near the Victoriana shoreline burb. My family and I were super thirsty from our drive home from Cape May and decided to stop here since it was on the way home. There wasn't a line at all - we ordered three Grande Black Iced Tea Lemonades with Liquid Cane Sugar, and a Grande Strawberry Acai Lemonade. When we pull up to the window and get our drinks, we start pulling away and I take a sip and realize there is definitely no sugar in it. I look at the label and sure enough, no sugar. My family all takes a sip and agrees that there's no sugar and that they can't drink it like this. We go back in line and mention that there's no sugar in the drink. At first, the man on the loud speaker says that there is sugar in the drink (even though it isn't on the label). Then, a female employee gets on the speaker and says that their store is discontinuing liquid cane sugar (what?????) and that if we want sugar, they'll give us Classic syrup "on the side" (which is what is typically used for their coffees). We say okay, that we'll take that. I guess post-Covid, they don't take any drinks back to put the pumps in for us... so instead, they hand us out a cup with probably six pumps of Classic syrup in it (so that we can put it in ourselves). It has to be the slowest starbucks I have ever been to. You wait in line for hours it seems like only to get an overpriced drink and then have the credit card machine handed to you because they expect a tip. If I wanted to use the machine I would apply for a job there. read more

Order was correct, however, the girl on the headset was extremely rude. We placed two mobile orders under the same name. We informed her of that when we pulled up to the drive thru speaker. The girl at the window was so sweet. When she handed us our first order we informed her about the second order. Then the girl with the headset came up and started arguing with us saying "next time you need to say you have two orders" when we explained that we did she said "well you made it sound like you had an order that had two items not two separate orders"?????? The crew at the Rio Grande Starbucks is the nicest, Most accommodating Starbucks I've EVER visited. I come here quite often. The girls here know what they are doing. They are all super nice and sweet. They really look like they enjoy working with each other. And to be honest, It looks like a modeling agency with barista outfits on. I never get a wrong order which is huge sounded I am so busy all the time. Starbucks has a consistent product. The Rio Grande store produces it as planned. They fail to go orders with food though. They miss their timetables on food orders and while waiting in the lobby - one can watch car after car who ordered after you arrive in the lobby leave with their food. Slow slow slow service. Worst Starbucks ever. They give you a partial order, then forget about the rest. Avoid. It was actually better across the street. Some baristas yell the name of the order and the persons name it most just shout the first name. Oh, then nothing is in a singular place. Drinks and other stuff is placed all over the counter. Ridiculous. 3rd time this week where we waited, and waited and waited as the screw up. And they have plenty of staff. It's not like they are understaffed. BTW: Most staff here ignore you. Return visit here was a total turnaround. Went through the drive through. Staff was friendly attentive and the drinks were great. She even took time to offer to treat my dog who was waiting in the back hopeful for a goodie as our last trip to a Starbucks in Wayne, NJ refused. I hope this improvement is permanent! read more

Staff is friendly and is your typical Starbucks. One warning though -- it's the only Starbucks in about 25 miles. Even in the off season, the drive thru overflows onto the street. Highly suggest patience and putting in a mobile order. read more

The last two times I went, they really skimped on things. I order extra cream and it's dark brown. I order an extra pump of syrup and it's bitter with little flavor. Is that the company telling them to short change people or do they just not care about it?! Besides that; I see one gal working her tail off making drinks and three others standing there chatting it up, WTH. If I go to Dunkin, which I usually do, the order is always right and all the people are busy working. I'm an older guy but I get coffee every morning and to me the proof is in the pudding. They messed up our order (3/4 coffees), which I don't normally care about. Oh well, we're all human. However, they tried to overcharge me for a drink, which I have gotten from multiple locations.
