Stopped off here today after a shopping trip. In the past I've gone to the nearby Starbucks but it…read morewas so full there that there was no hope of anywhere to sit. Costa was busy but there were a few seats - in fact, I got a nice comfy corner seat which was a bit like a soft sofa with a table in front. The lattes are lovely and served in a tall glass (nicer than the Starbucks' ones which always come in a chunky mug, and cheaper too). Good for snacks and cakes as well by the look of them although I didn't indulge in extra calories myself! The staff were pleasant and helpful and there wasn't any background music, which made chatting to my friend easier. I'll definitely go there again the next time I'm in Swansea.

However, I unfailingly get a decent cup of coffee there. it is rather expensive ( I drink a flat white which at time of writing is 2.40 gbp) and the reward points aren't as lucrative as other coffee shop loyalty cards, but I've never had a dud coffee from this branch, or the one in Fforestfach, or the one in Carmarthen.

As over the years I've become rather addicted to Starbucks, it was with somewhat horror that I…read morediscovered in my last few months at Swansea University, that there was in fact a Starbucks located on the basement floor of the James Callaghan building! Now if you're a Swansea student who didn't already know this vital piece of information, don't get your hopes just yet. Whilst they do serve Starbucks coffee and muffins, that's pretty much just it. So don't expect to be able to get that Strawberries and Cream Frappuccino. However it is handy, especially during exams season. When you'll need all the coffee you can get your hands on, to get you through those late night revision cramming sessions.

Absolute disgrace of a place. The worst Starbucks I have ever been to. Slow service, and unhelpful…read more Rude woman serving that was unhelpful and rude. Took 15 mins for my order to come with no sorry or apology. My 4 shot iced latte tasted like milk with no espresso. I then asked for another drink as it was very weak. No apology and just put another shot of weak espresso in there. Don't come here if you want to leave with a good mood

Pleasant place to sit after a fraught shopping experience. There are usually several free tables…read moreand chairs as the shop goes quite a long way back. I was there today and was extremely impressed by the excellent, friendly, service from both members of staff who were there at the time. OK, the coffee isn't cheap but you do get a lot for your money - even the 'small size' coffee comes in quite a large mug! There are lots of delicious cakes and pastries too, and I can recommend Starbucks own lovely chocolate bars.

This is a recent addition to the Starbucks coffee shops in Swansea situated in the Village Hotel…read moreand a nice improvement from the previous hotel cafe. It is slightly different from the other local Starbucks as apparently it is a franchise of Starbucks, only small differences with a price menu on top of the display cabinet instead of individual priced sandwiches etc. The cafe is well laid out with plenty of comfy chairs and as the Village has free wifi so a cheaper way of accessing emails and qype :) than the standard Starbucks tmobile tariff. Plenty of choice with their sandwiches, paninis and cakes and staff were friendly and efficient.

His attention to his customers is excellent and he goes to great lengths to find tables for people, even when they are busy. But I have to admit I go for the coffee more than anything. His coffee is the best I have tasted. My favourite is the cappucino but I have tried others and have never been disappointed. When we go elsewhere my wife (not a coffee drinker) always asks, "How is the coffee?" I always reply, "Its fine, but its not Franco's." What else can I say?

They do a really good full english breakfast (according to my husband and he really knows his full english!) and they have a good range of pasta dishes on offer too. I really like the fact that all their pasta dishes also come in half-sizes for children - a far better option than the usual chicken nuggets and chips that most places offer their younger customers. Having said that - they do offer meals with chips too. The specials board is always worth considering. My favourite special is the cawl with toasted french bread. Surprisingly, it doesn't contain any meat, but it's made with lots of fresh vegetables and flavoured with fresh herbs. Its very tasty, very filling, and I would imagine pretty healthy - especially for those of us who are watching our waistlines! Oh, and I mustn't forget - try the hot chocolate - very moreish!

They have paintings on the wall that are available to buy and I always love going in and looking at them (even if I can't afford to buy any of them). The seating is comfortable and there is plenty of it. It looks small from the outside but they have an upstairs seating area. The service is excellent. They bring your food and drink to the tables, which is great for clumsy people like me who always spill their coffee. The coffee is also very good. I would highly recommend this cafe.

Additionally whilst Cardiff seems to attract some prolific authors (and the not so prolific- I'm thinking Jordan), this branch never seems to get any.
