When I studied at King's College London, this was basically where I lived while I was around The Strand during the day for classes. So, I spent A LOT of time mingling with the solicitors and barristers who worked in the neighborhood while I was abroad.
I quickly noticed that it was a very "American" thing to want to study in a cafe setting; King's beautiful Maughan Library was just across the street, but I always felt more comfortable enjoying my coffee and books at Starbucks and the only other students I regularly recognized were Americans, too.
This was a really nice Starbucks and I actually enjoyed spending time here. It could get very busy during peak hours (especially in the mornings and during lunch time), but there were always plenty of baristas working upstairs so service was always quite efficient even if the lines were long. This location also had a large basement seating area with plenty of tables, armchairs, and even special study carrels with individual lights!
Why can't the Starbucks in America be as nice? read more
