I've gotten a couple of London Fogs here and they're pretty on the mark. So many places make them way too sweet. The building faces east and there's some nice big windows at the front so you can enjoy your morning brew sitting in the sunshine and reading something from their sizable magazine rack. They do have some food options including sandwiches and baked goods which are pre-assembles and individually wrapped. The service has been friendly and served with a smile on both occasions I've popped in for a pick-me-up while out on a job site.

Last Friday, I went there specifically to buy their mix vegetable pakoras. After taking my first bite, I felt something extremely hard -- it felt like an uncooked channa (raw chickpea or another hard object). When I bit down, my tooth cracked severely all the way to the root. As a result, I now need oral surgery and a tooth extraction, with treatment costs totaling more than $7,000. I contacted the owner, Balwinder Virk, the same day to report the incident. Unfortunately, they denied responsibility and refused to help with the dental expenses. This wasn't the first issue. Three weeks ago, we ordered paranthas from their Westwind location, and the paneer parantha had an excessive amount of red chili powder. After taking only two bites, I experienced severe stomach pain that still continues today. These repeated issues have made me extremely disappointed and concerned about food safety. I will no longer recommend Chai Baar to anyone, and I urge others to be careful and check their food before eating.

When I went inside, the store was cleaned well. It has also been well stocked minus after a certain time when they are cloae to cloaing the dining room. The staff has mostly been friendly and quick at their job without akimping on customer service. I typically go through drive-thru, though, so I will speak more on that. I used to work at Tim Hortons and know their policy on drive-thru orders. For example, drive-thru orders need to be out within 2 minutes of the order being submitted. Now, we all know that rarely happens. As long as customers aren't trying to buy the entire store through the drive-thru, it can be accomplished. But it's really not the end of the world if they don't. However, something that they have recently started doing is taking the order, putting it on the screen, and then asking us to give them a minute. And then we are sitting there wondering what is going on. Is there a problem with our order? Are they checking to make sure they have something we ordered? Lack of communication. Once, we sat at the order box for 5 mins with no reason. Eventually, we ended up driving up because no one was telling us anything. As we were coming up to the window, a hand popped up gesturing for us to stop. When we got to the window, the young woman on the other side got mad at us and was raising her voice at us for driving up because we would hit the drive-thru plate, which would force the timer. We found out our order wasn't submitted yet because she wanted it to be ready beforehand so the timer would show less than two mins. They don't want the times to be over so they don't get in trouble with their head office but she was willing to sacrifice customer service for it and that seems to be what the standard is these days at this location. The supervisor on duty apologized for the wait and lack of communication. Other than that, I have never had any problems with this location. I still continue to come here as the rest of the staff has been wonderful and they always get the food and drinks right.

The café itself is not super spacious, but there is seating both upstairs and downstairs. The seating upstairs was more spread out compared to the seating downstairs, so it was naturally louder downstairs. There is free Wi-Fi as well as a self-serve station to get free water. While the chairs upstairs are comfortable to sit on, I found it difficult to do work (i.e. using my computer on the table) as the chairs themselves are leaned too far back and are unadjustable. I would recommend driving here versus public transport, as it was quite a walk from Rundle station (should you take the train). Overall a great café with good drinks and food, perfect for having a good conversation in! But I probably would not come here to study or do work, in my opinion.

Came early morning to grab some coffee…read more One of the few Vietnamese coffee places in Calgary. Ordered Thai green milk tea, egg coffee and coconut coffee. All the drinks were delicious, especially the egg coffee. Super creamy, and didn't have that egg taste which surprised me. Definitely worth the visit.
