Starbucks has been overdue a location within Burnley town centre for a while now, so I was excited to visit their location on Pioneer Place, at the new part of the Charter Walk Shopping Centre on a recent trip to the East Lancashire town, previously the only other Starbucks in Burnley was a drive-thru at Barracks.
The interior is large, clean and modern and feels new, as expected with it opening towards the final quarter of 2023.
It is a franchise location, so prices are a little higher than most other Starbucks stores although mobile ordering is supported, and they still accept Starbucks cards and rewards.
They were short-staffed on my visit, with only one staff member appearing to be both serving and making drinks, although she did seem friendly and to be trying her best despite the circumstances.
As of March 2024, they're open until 7 pm between Monday and Saturday, I do prefer which is reasonable, in an ideal world they would be open later, but I can understand not wanting to remain open long after the rest of the shopping centre shuts at 5:30 pm, the Starbucks at Barracks remains open until 10 pm though.
I ordered a Venti iced Blonde White Mocha, with no whipped cream, and an extra shot, the coffee tasted good although I couldn't taste the white mocha syrup, and the drink did require a bit of a stir.
3* - An exciting and much-needed brand for the town centre, not the best Starbucks I've visited, but it's clean, modern and tidy and not all bad. read more
