After spending the last seven nights in Great Britain (three in Manchester, two each in Inverness and Edinburgh), it was time to return to Holyhead and by extension, Ireland. I realize that apart from our car rental and a stop at a totally forgettable burger joint, we hadn't spent any money in Wales, and didn't have much to Yelp about (yeah, our car was fine, but we didn't need any sort of service - nothing interesting to scribe about). But given our exhaustion from our Manchester experience, I'm happy to report that this franchise was a welcome reprieve. Wife got herself a Chai Latte, I a mocha and a scone. As we had time to kill before our half past two ferry ride, we sat down and people watched for about half an hour.
Let me say that for the most part, Starbucks employees work at a pace that's well beyond their pay range. In the States it's to collect tips, but even in Ireland/England/Scotland/Wales, I didn't see a single member lollygagging about. Not sure if it's a testament to the corporation or that their jacked up on caffeine, but you know you're not in a Wal-store. For the most part customers seem happy as well. Maybe it's the Soylent Green in the coffee.... Anyway, by and large, this was a pleasant place to stop. read more
