The owner is nice. The coffee's nice (no better, no worse). The home-made Bara Brith and other assorted cakes? Most accurately surmised as "nice". Last time I was in the Corner Cafe, the adjacent table was occupied by local Green Party representative, who was quietly discussing her plans to make the world a better place with her policy team (her mum, her uncle and her daughter, as far as I could make out). There's a McDonalds over the road with coffee half the price and no pretence, plus a toilet you can use without dehumanising yourself in the process.

In any event, it certainly is refreshing to be able to grab a non-instant cup of coffee and a tasty muffin from a smiling cashier/barista. I know there was a big palaver to get the proper permits for an eat in coffee place. IMO, it was well worth it. This place is comfy and comforting. Normally, I wouldn't give a chain coffee joint 5 stars but the consistency of Costa is refreshing in deed.
