I took it in for an oil change and forgot to tell them I use synthetic, to my pleasant surprise, synthetic oil was used...nice. Also, I asked him to look at the transmission because it has been shifting funny. In spite of my terms, he looked at it and had a solution for me when I picked it up. This man is honest, and as a woman, it's very good to have a mechanic that doesn't try to pull the wool over me. They've earned a new customer.

Just over a week ago on a late Friday afternoon we were cruising along to our vacation spot in Red…read moreRiver to spend the next week when we heard bad mechanical noises coming from below. We barely got pulled off to the side of the road (no shoulder) while pulling our camper and side x sides. I called a couple places and no one nearby could help, called a tow company and they appeared helpful however after an hour we still did not know if or when they would come. One of the places I called advised us to call A 1 Automatics, who was both a tow company and a transmission shop. They were an hour and a half away in Trinidad, Co. By this time we knew it was our torque converter, fly wheel, and hopefully little else. I'm bad with names however I called and believe I spoke with the owner who asked a few questions and was on his way. Friends who had arrived before us came out and got our camper and toys for us, moving them to our campground. A 1 Automatics took the truck to Trinidad , he understood we needed the truck to get us home the following Friday. I canceled the other tow company who said they had someone on the way, however failed to let us know, and interestingly no one saw another tow truck. Transmission work is never cheap however they let us know what needed to be done and what didn't, as well as the cost. They used better quality parts and had us up and running for less money than we thought and by the following Thursday morning. We had absolutely no issues during the 10 hour trip back home. My husband and I truly appreciate these folks getting us in, taking care of us in a timely manner, and at a fair price. If your in the Trinidad Co., area and have trouble these are the guys to call.

A great honest, customer service oriented business starts with the owners. Joe and his wife are…read moredefinitely light years ahead of many mechanic shops. His employees are also very happy and have the same friendly attitude towards customers. They are also helpful for anything you need. This is the best experience I have EVER had at any mechanic shop. I was traveling from Denver to Dallas when my brakes started squealing bad, along the way my transmission went out. They repaired my brakes (Reasonable price) but I had to go to Pueblo for a transmission because fortunately it was still under warranty. They helped me through the entire process working with the warranty company, towed me to Pueblo (Their tow truck driver had the best personality, he was spectacular) and for being broke down and feeling a bit vulnerable to any situation they made it the best experience it could possibly be. I VERY HIGHLY recommend J.M. Tire in Trinidad for ALL AND ANY mechanical work you may need. THANK YOU ALL AT J.M TIRE FOR YOUR HELP AND INTEGRITY THROUGH MY MECHANICAL ISSUES. YOUR THE BEST!!!!

The wheel bearing on my nieces SUV started failing about 10-miles outside of Raton, NM and got drastically worse by the minute. With ~4 mile to Raton we hit the flashers and crawled along the shoulder about 5-mph until we reached his shop. We were an unexpected repair to add to his already booked calendar, but he was able to fit me in after verifying the parts store had what was needed. In about an hour he had the car repaired and we were on the road again to make the delivery. He and his team didn't have to take on the extra work, but he knew we were in a bad situation we couldn't control and he was able to fit me in. You took an extremely stressful situation and literally made it go away. We are EXTREMELY grateful and can't thank you enough for getting us back on the road. If you and your family are ever in the Austin/San Marcos, TX area let us know, we'd love to repay your kindness as many others have mentioned on Google reviews. YOU AND YOUR TEAM (FAMILY) ARE A BLESSING! Thank you again!

I was living and working in Northeast New Mexico this summer, and my car started to have some…read moretrouble. I took it to a mechanic in Raton twice. The first time he said nothing was wrong and simply turned off the warning lights. They popped back on an hour later, so I took it back when I could. This time he did $120 of various work, pronounced it good, and gave it back. The lights came on about an hour later. By that time, I didn't have a chance to take it back before I was going to be leaving for the summer. The night before I left, the car hit a record FIVE warning lights on simultaneously, before crapping out. Through luck, it turned back on, and the next morning I made a beeline for Trinidad, with the car breaking down once more along the way. Needless to say, having my Camry crapping out at 70,000 miles was very worrisome. When I got it to Phil Long Toyota, on a Saturday morning, they said they were booked but would have the mechanic look at it when he could between oil changes. Completely understandable since I didn't have an appointment. Three hours later, the guy at the counter came over and said it was a faulty filter making the computer freak out and go haywire. They fixed it for $80. I've driven the car over six thousand more miles in the month since and have had zero problems. Phil Long solved the problem relatively quickly, for a very low cost, far less than the guy who didn't fix jack squat. Top notch service!
