Came in for a pedicure... they didn't have the "typical" men's pedicures I've seen others have, with parafin wax, etc, so I opted for the hot stone pedicure. It was "just ok" nothing special. The stones weren't very hot and were ineffective. The leg massage was alright. For the price, it was double the cost for what I feel I got. Inside is nice though and the chairs seemed like brand new with perfectly functioning massagers in them. read more

I have been here a few times and I have been impressed by their services and hospitality. They have always paid attention to detail on my nails and will correct something if asked. I have gone for gel pedicures and dip manicures- always happy with the final product. They are slowly renovating the space and it looks great. I moved here recently. This is the fourth place I've tried looking for a place that does good pedicures. I've finally found it! It's clean and they took me right away. She did a terrific job. It took about 45 minutes, which is how I rate an excellent nail salon. My biggest pet peeve is a place that rushes you out the door. I expect a place that gives you a pampered experience. I don't want someone who is in a hurry to move on to the next person. The owners are really sweet people and I enjoyed my time there. It will definitely be my new place for pedicures. read more

I made an appointment for 6:PM I arrived 5:50, as soon as I walked in, I was greeted and told to pick a color. Before I picked the color, Henry, the one that my appointment was with told another customer to have a seat in his chair. I informed him that my appointment was with him for 6PM. Tiffany, his wife, who was doing a pedicure at the time said to me that she will be doing my nails. With that I told them I'll come back another time and she had the nerve to ask me what time will I be coming in? This salon is amazing! Super clean, they actually line the pedicure bowl- love that. I almost always get cut or nicked at least once, but the ladies at star nails are super gentle and still effective. They have a HUGE gel polish selection. While Star Nail doesn't offer much in the way of ambiance, they do a great job making sure you feel great when you leave and while you're there. I've had both manis and pedis here and the staff go above and beyond for your comfort, adding lovely hand and foot massages depending on your treatment. For $12, the manicures are a quality steal. For $25, the pedicures were a bit overpriced in my opinion, but they definitely worked their magic with my feetsies. Will be coming here for all of my nail needs! read more

I recently moved here from Arizona and I am always so skeptical when it comes to having someone new do my nails, feet, and brows. Let me tell you Lynn is amazing! I didn't write a review right away because I wanted to make sure they held up and they did! No lifting, breaking, chipping etc. the ONLY reason I gave 4 stars is because of the lady who did my pedi. (I forgot her name) She was so nice and sweet but rushed and didn't clean my cuticles and I paid extra for a salt scrub and she rushed through it and didn't lotion my feet But other than that I have nothing but good things to say. Today I went in for a full set acrylic service, this was my second visit at this salon. My nail tech was the woman with very dark black hair. Staff was very welcoming with my first visit as well as this one so that's one thing I can't take away from them. I went in with a picture of how I wanted my nails to be, I was so excited when my nail tech assured me (3x) that she would be able to do the shape/ style that I wanted. Ok, I said as we were getting down to filing the nails I realized that she was just doing a square shape, which I told her I did not want!!! She proceeded to tell me that it wasn't square shape and that she wasn't done. At this point, I asked to speak to the manager because it wasn't coming out how I wanted AT ALL. She told me that the nail tech knew what she was doing. Ok, at this point I'm aggravated because it's not even a little like the picture that I showed the nail tech multiple times throughout my visit. After speaking to the manager and going back to the nail tech, she started throwing my hands around I guess out of frustration of me wanting to speak to the manager. I was indecisive on what color I wanted, and she was very rude about me wanting to change my color, if I'm paying you all of this money for such a trash job, which I brought to her attention I didn't like it she brushed me off, me taking an extra few min to pick a color should be the least of your worries. That was your first wrong, instead of worrying about your unsatisfied customer, you worried about the extra time I took to get a color that I would like more(floored at this point). I was charged $31.00, this wasnt worth $31.00 in the slightest!!! I was also told to pay before my service was completed ( none of the other ladies were asked). I'm a college student, I'm upset that I didn't get my money's worth. For that price, she should've just offered me gel. I started going here when I was 14 years old, which would be 12 years. Johnny and Lynne are the best to go to. They are also the owners. I haven't been in a few years because I've been going to Escape since I get pink and white now. But when I was getting acrylics, my nails NEVER bubbled, popped off, anything. They were able to do the crazy designs I wanted and were fair with pricing. The staff is always friendly. Very clean and friendly. I had been going to Allure down the street. That day I called Allure to make an appointment with the guy who has been doing my nails for 6 months. The person who answered the phone made my appointment for 4 with TONY. When I got there I was told he was on vacation and I needed to wait. I watched the guy paint and re-paint then repaint again the same girls nails. She finally told me he sucked & I decided to leave! I had been sitting there over 30 mins & 3 people came in..each time he said wait 30 mins! ANYWAY, I yelped and found good reviews on Star Nails.It was only 2 miles down 610. I went they took me right away. I got Jenny, she did a great job. The massage chairs there are the best I have ever felt!! I will go back to Star from now on. Will never go there again! The nail tech obviously didn't know what she was doing. I asked for a ballerina shape but that's not what I got. My nails were a mess. The staff is very nice, but this salon is not sanitary. I went in to get a pedicure with my mom.. my mom pointed out that they dont use bed liners in the foot bath.. which is disgusting.. the tool she used on my feet I believe it's called a scrubbing brush or a buffering brush I'm not to sure, however I noticed while I was waiting for the toe nail polish on my feet to dry, that the tool she used to scrub my feet she also scrubbed the foot tub with it to clean it out and she put it back in the drawer.. and all the other tools she used on my feet for example the (nail file) that was still sitting in the cup with the other tools...and when I arrived to get my feet done she never got the nail file out of a package or anything.. it was already in the cup! It really makes you think how many feet she may have used it on before she did mine...its just gross, makes me cringe even thinking about it. & I also got a really bad foot rash and painful blister like bumps on my feet the next day. A friend told me about Star Nails, and I decided to give them a try. I was planning on going on Saturday evening with a friend, so called earlier in the day to confirm their hours. I was told that they would be open until 8pm, but took their last clients at 7pm. This would work out perfectly for our schedule. We got to the salon at 6:35pm, and the ladies in the shop told us they were not taking anyone else this evening. I realize that they all had clients at the time, but they would have finished in plenty of time to give us our pedicures before 8pm. We went up the road to Angel Nail Salon (Doc Stone Commons, 32 Doc Stone Rd, Stafford, VA 22556), and got there at 6:45pm. Even though they were supposed to close at 7pm, they were more than happy to accomodate us and we got wonderful service there. I've been here three times to get my nails done. The first time I had to ask if they would use SANITIZED tools on me, since the cuticle trimmers had someone else's old skin in them. the next time was ok but yesterday i made an appointment at 1 and wasn't seen until 1:40! Finally a man came over to start my pedi - he was nice and trying to make small talk, but my pedi was over in half the time as the people around me. As he started to paint the first nail I noticed that he failed to trim my cuticles at all. I asked if he would just trim a little and he was so angry he slammed the tools down and didnt talk to me for the rest of the time (mani to follow). He quickly cut around my nail and scraped (which hurt a lot!) I came home and that night my foot was throbbing - it is totally infected. Poor customer service - he didnt even look up at me when I handed him a tip. I waited 40 minutes for a crappy 5 minute pedi that left me with a FOOT INFECTION. Went here instead of my usual place b/c mine was not open that particular day before I went on vacation. Came in wanting a mani & pedi. Waited over an hour to be seen and another hour sitting in the massage chair waiting for the woman to finish w/ another customer. When I finally did get seen the pedicure lasted maybe 10 minutes and the lady finished painting my toes while another guy did my gel manicure.
