I've been waiting for 40 minutes. They will bring you in and have someone take your nail polish off. Then they will move you to a different seat to have someone do the same thing ... then! Finally the person who was going to do my nails sat down. She was consistently answering the phone until another woman came in that needed a repair - she STOPPED my nails and went straight to her. I was so mad at the poor customer service that I left but not before they charged me $20. Basically paid that to have my nails filed. I get that sometimes you have to wait to get your nails done but it's completely ridiculous to stop someone's nails to help someone who just walked through the door. Wasted an hour of my lunch and my nails look worse then they did when I came in!! I won't be back. read more

I just received the worse set of gel nails ever. Was my second visit. Will never go back. They didn't compare to any I've ever had done.

If I could give zero stars I would. By far the worst set of nails I've ever had done, and when I said I didn't want to continue/pay for the service I had the cops threatened to be called because they thought I was trying to leave with a full set. I got yelled at and threatened and borderline held against my will. Still has to pay them to soak off. The owner straight up said "sometimes we are good sometimes we aren't you're too picky". AND they said I could never come back, as if I ever would. They were beyond rude like always don't know why I even went there. read more

I don't like to be Negative Nelly on here...but hopefully I can prevent someone else from having a similar experience to this. I had my first (EVER) set of acrylics put on a couple of months ago (somewhere else). I've had one fill (somewhere else) and today it was time to have them taken off and to start over. I decided to try out Star Nails in South Shores. They opened at 9:30am and I arrived as a walk in just shortly after. The woman took toe nail clippers to pull my natural nails away from the acrylic at the tips. Then she took an artificial nail tip and ran it underneath the acrylic and ripped them away from my natural nails. It was painful! I was wincing in pain. I thought for sure she was going to rip off my natural nails as well! (Aren't they supposed to be soaked off???) She asked if I wanted my natural nails cut off. I chuckled and said yes. Because HELLO...the tips were completely ragged and torn!!! Then, she got up and an older man sat down to do the next part (whatever that might have been). When I looked at his hands, there was dried up BLOOD all over one of his palms!!! I pointed it out to him and he said it was just nail color. I told him "No, that's blood." and then he said "Oh,my." He then got up and went to the back to wash his hands. He came back and took a straight edge razor and started scraping stuff that was on the manicure table. (Why was he doing this in front of a customer???) At that point, I picked up my phone and pretended to read something. I said that something had come up and I had to leave. I thought hey, I'll leave them $5 for their "troubles". But the original lady walked over and asked what was wrong. I told her something had come up and I had to leave. She said "Okay, $10." I thought REALLY!?!? $10 for painfully ripping my nails off!?!? Whatever. I paid the $10 and left. That was a horrible experience. I decided to try someplace new today, not happy with other places I've been going. Most nail salons have hired males, who are only interested in getting done as fast as possible. So was disappointed to have a male nail tech here, but was pleasantly surprised at what a GREAT job he did. He was gentle and didn't cut any corners getting the job done. Will be back. read more

I have been going to nail salons for a few years. Star Nails was by far the dirtiest, and most rushed salon I have been to. My nails were bubbly, chipped in 2 days, and I noticed they did not clean their equipment, which was outdated and in bad shape. I have never returned. read more

I went to this place because I had to be in and out early before skipping town for a wedding. I chose this place as it was open the earliest in town. The guy had done my nails before and I knew I would have a good mani/pedi from him so I was not concerned about that. However, my concern comes in with the cleanliness of the place. In the past, they had taken tools of the sterile wrapping which made me not question going back this time. But this time, they did not. There was a ton of nail dust everywhere on the table and it just did not seem like the tools were clean as he just picked them up and put them back in the drawer when he was done with them. The lady next to me was getting her nails redone and they just clipped the old nails off and left them on the floor. No thank you. A guy walked in asking if they had any job openings and quite frankly they may not have nail tech openings, but they could have paid him to do a good cleaning of the place. I believe that they have new owners once again. Sometimes they do a great job other times it's just ok. It all depends on who you get.
