Haircut was simple and done great. Shave was even better...hot towel to begin then trimming before the shave. A straight razor was used with cooling sensation from products applied to skin. Really great attention to detail...lined up the sides and neck portion of goatee plus the gaps near bottom lip. Cool water shampoo and finished appointment. Well worth it. Definitely recommend and will seek out Sandra again for next visit.

Pretty good fade, and attention to detail in my hard-part, plus a razor-shave on the neck and sides with a straight razor. Otherwise, pretty boring in delivery. I'm not sure if North Star was ahead of the curve of upscale "beer while you wait" barbershop trend, but otherwise it was pretty forgettable. I had made an appointment that didn't seem to matter, because I had a pretty lengthy wait. The staff seemed pretty set in their own pace, but it was easy to recognize they had regulars. I think the most disappointing part was my barber taking calls on a headset while cutting my hair. It makes good business sense, but it felt a little impersonal. The seating was a little tight, but overall acceptable. Not the total package I was hoping, considering how much the bill came out to be. Good, not great.

I was told that I could make an appointment or just go as a walk-in, which I did. Wasn't far from my home and was pretty easy to find. Dave explained the services with the beard including the straight razor and hot towel treatment. I was extremely happy with my haircut and felt good about going to an interview. My wife loved the haircut as well. With the customer service, the price, the offered services, and overall good atmosphere, I will certainly be back.

I try to go online to read up on different hairstyles for men, but the language is all alien to me. Taper? Fade? Undercut? It's all Greek to me. I needed someone to take the time to explain what was being done, why, and what it means in the long run. Going to a place like Super Cuts or Great Clips in the past meant I would sit in a chair and just be looked at blankly. I didn't know what to tell them I wanted because I didn't know any better. Chris, my barber, was patient and explained the mechanics behind hair cutting. And maybe that's not important to a lot of people, but for someone who felt anxious getting his haircut, it was great for me. The barbershop itself is unassuming on the outside, but the interior is great. Wood and leather are the main textiles giving the shop a classic masculine atmosphere. When I entered, I was offered a beer (whoa!) and told to have a seat next to a foosball table. Batman was playing on a big screen TV and I could hear conversations between customers and barbers. It made me feel relaxed and safe (for want of a better word? Idk. Not anxious about my ignorance when it comes to hair. That's how I felt). Chris walked me through his process. He explained my face shape and my hair texture. And maybe most importantly he asked what I do for a living. He took that little bit of information and gave me a great, well shaped, appropriate look. He explained how to style it in the morning - which was so appreciated. You can leave a place looking great, but if you don't know how to maintain it, it's useless. So that tiny nugget of information was incredibly valuable to me and I appreciated it. And honestly, I couldn't be happier. This was a great experience. The people were friendly, the shop was great. I *feel better* coming out of this shop. I'll definitely be returning.
