I believe I have finally found a barbershop for the long term. I came to Arcadia to fix the worst haircut of my life; see my other reviews to find out where. When I called for an appointment, I was scheduled for later that same day with Heidi, the owner. Upon arrival, Heidi saw the mess on my head and suggested I sit with Sweets because a fade was needed for the fix. I appreciate when someone can humbly admit that someone is better for the job. I should note that while getting my cut with Sweets, I saw Heidi do a cut and it looked really good. Sweets did a fantastic job. She told me exactly what she needed to do and confirmed that it was OK. By the end of the cut, it was one of the best cuts I've ever had, you'd never know I was butchered 24 hours earlier. First haircut in San Antonio, looking to get a fresh fade and beard shaping before a job interview. Called ahead of time to verify times and ability to pay by card and was treated very politely. I was told that I could make an appointment or just go as a walk-in, which I did. Wasn't far from my home and was pretty easy to find. My barber ended up being Dave and couldn't have asked for a more polite and courteous person. Explained what I wanted and what I like and was perfectly understood, which can be hard in some places. Dave explained the services with the beard including the straight razor and hot towel treatment. I was extremely happy with my haircut and felt good about going to an interview. BLUF: Great cuts, great people, great price! I love coming to this barbershop as it's been my go to in San Antonio. It's hard to find a place that has an old school barbershop feel, but with younger barbers. Heidi is especially awesome and makes for good conversation during your cut. I always appreciated how the barbers here take their time to make sure you get the cut you want! As far as logistics go, you can either arrange an appointment or just walk in. I love how you always get a straight shave after the cut is done, and if you're with Heidi she'll offer you one of the machine back massages! I really really like this awesome place. I appreciated Heidis honesty. She could have rushed through a trim with the shaver for the money but recommended I wait and have it done with a razor and it would look better. Watching her take care of a couple of her usuals I could tell she is very skilled, and still personable and really enjoys what she does. I like the casual feel of the place and the friendly vibe. Very welcoming and dare I use the word "hip". Heidi is very sweet and she helpful. Dave on the other hand. Let me say he will now be my new "go to" guy. A true craftsman and pro, he takes his time and doesn't just cut your hair or trim your face he's last of the true barbers. Hot towels, straight razor and an eye for detail. With suggestions and an eye for style I highly recommend you let him take care of you. This great shop seems right at home with styling a cutting edge haircut to classic rockabilly. After reading the reviews here I made an "appointment" with Sweet for 11:30. I showed up early and started talking to a friendly lady out front named Heidi. She had a bubbly persona and later I had to check with Sweet. I guess she had recently started on a dude with plenty of excess hair. I waited for ten minutes and it did not appear as if she was close to being done. Not being a big fan of waiting, I asked Heidi if she could give me a hair cut. I happen to be in San Antonio the weekend of April 16th & 17th from Dallas and came across Arcadia Hair Studio, in all honesty I was looking for their competitor's place but I'm glad I did not find it. When I got there there was only one person cutting hair and she only took appoints for what I need it to get done, she asked Elio to come in for a hair cut which eventually he did and I'm glad I waited. Elio made a simple thing, cut my hair, a heck of an experience, we spoke about many things the festivals, music, past places we've lived at and origins of greek words. I feel like this place came alive after he got in and just made me feel like I was home, San Antonio is beautiful town and people and business like Arcadia make this town shine brighter that much more. I was in town one day and desperately needed a haircut and clean shave but was unsure about barbers in the area. The one that I was originally referred to would have cost me around $100 before tip for a trim and shave and there was noooo way I could pay that. I saw the great reviews on here and thought I'd give this place a try. Man, what an incredible experience I had! I walked in soon after opening and Heidi helped me right away. She was so friendly and fun, we talked the entire time. Probably spent an hour making sure she did a good job (I had a really long beard and needed to be clean shaven so that took a while), and the finished product was incredible. First off, we were walk-ins on a day when most barbers/salons required appointments, but they let us in and helped us out. The stylists on-duty were very nice and social. There was nice holiday music playing and one of the stylists put on a Minecraft show for our youngest son to put him at ease - very much appreciated. The woman working was very sweet to our youngest son who typically has a hard-time with haircuts and spoke to him at length after his haircut (gave him candy). Unfortunately the quality of haircuts that both my wife and my son got were very poor. They were very uneven - especially my son's. He sat still for the haircut so it wasn't his fault but the haircut looked like someone without proper training gave it to him. Also this place is extremely over-priced for the quality we received. In short, the people were very kind and warm, but the quality was terrible and the prices were far too high. We very much do not recommend and we will not be returning. Here's hoping they hire more skilled labor in the future. read more

That being said, Arcadia Hair Studio is an old school barber shop that does a great job. I mostly do walk-ins, but I believe they have appointments as well. This is everything you need in a haircut. They actually listen to what you want/need done to your hair, and you have options of a straight razor shave for your neck and a complimentary shoulder massage. The stylists take their time so you should leave happy with the results or at the very least have the chance to detail your needs. My roommate frequents here, and he referred me. Referrers get a free haircut, so don't pass up this deal! It was a Friday and Elio was the only stylist working, but despite there being several people ahead of me, the wait time wasn't that long at all. Elio was very professional and friendly. He asked what I wanted and went right to work. The whole time we made conversation, he was very genuine and sincere and not simply making small talk, as is customary for barbers. This is the best barber shop I've found in San Antonio. My hair is very difficult to cut - I have four cowlicks to deal with, and because I'm in the military there's a limit to how long I can keep my hair. That means I need a much better barber than most people do just to get a decent looking head of hair. Enter Helio. Phenomenal barber with great people skills. Be sure to ask him about his music! Although I use Helio exclusively now I've had my hair cut by three of the other barbers in the shop and they were all very good. I've never seen a bad haircut come out of the shop. read more

Beyond disappointed with this barbershop. Asked for a simple fade and it looks like the clippers never touched my head. The barber never wet my hair for an even trim on top, but instead, used thinning scissors all over my head. By the time I noticed what he was doing he had already butchered my hair. My hair was completely uneven when I got home and had to cut what I could on my own. I'll be wearing a hat until my hair grows out. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. read more
