So I've been visiting the same barber for over 15 years in PQ. During this covid pandemic everyone had to close. Well, people still need a fade! I tried a shop in Esco... supposedly a true mens barbershop complete with a straight razor clean up along the neck. (They sucked and left small details like around the ears and uneven spots in the fade). Today I called many places, none answered. I was heading home when I found Star Barbershop had its door open. I was skeptical but went in for trim anyways. Surprisingly, I've found a great barber who can fade with attention to detail. He lined me up as he finished. He listens to my requests. And they are even fairly priced!! They are open till 7pm m-Sat., which helps most people. I've found a great barber in Esco finally! read more

I entered the humble un pretentious barber shop, greeted by a woman who was cutting another man's hair. She pointed at the second barber's chair and kindly said, "please sit, and the man will come to you in a moment." And he did. A polite man came out from the back of the shop and greeted me. He got right to the haircut asking me about dimensions and shape and number two or number three. He didn't plaster me with endless questions. He did a great job. After fifteen minutes he was done. I paid him the meager sum of $11 (plus a generous tip), and left. I've received more compliments on this hair cut than any previous one that I can remember. I'm going back. I was visiting my friend in the surrounding area, and was walking around when I found the shop. The couple was nice and genuine. I needed a root touch up and a trim to my current hair cut, and Cindy was quickly to get started. She did a great job with my hair. The cut finalized the first cut that was left somehow unfinished and it looked fantastic. The root touch up result was soft and shiny, perfect color. I couldn't have been more delighted with everything especially with the prices. If you communicated well with what you want they can do it. Don't use jargon and lingo and expect them to get it. Also, as I was waiting for my turn, and saw several clients who were trying to negotiate with them on a $10 haircut. These people ended up spending more than half an hour to do their haircut. If you want to bargain on a $!0 haircut, just cut your own hair and see how much it would cost to fix it or how much it would look. Stop bargaining! Hell to the no!!! Lady was super nice but my hair did not come out how I asked. And the fade is not looking like a fade, more like a bowl cut. Wont be back unless the entire world of barbers all died off. But then Id probably just cut my own hair because I cant have that lady do my hair again. And tell her to get new blades because she sliced and diced my neck and face to death while trying to do my beard. No thanks!!!! And in response to your message, i did communicate my cut or i wouldn't say she did anything wrong. Believe me I woulda rather walked out with my money back or been satisfied with the cut i asked for, but like i said, i had cuts on my neck and around my beard and my neck by her unsharpened blade she said she was going to fix later that day supposedly, and my haircut was just a simple fade and did not look like anything other then a bowl cut. If you look at my reviews i do not go around giving out very bad ones so please dont message me as if i made a mistake, or if i didnt communicate correctly because i dont know any barber who doesnt understand "id like a fade with a 7 on top and 0 on the bottom with medium height on my fade". If she couldnt understand that id rather wear a hat for a week and go somewhere else before anymore damage was done to my hair or my skin. Only reason i didnt give it one star was because she was nice. But i got a bad haircut and literally left there bleeding. What do you want from me? I didnt freak out ask for my money back. I simply gave your barbershop a review and since its not 4 or 5 stars i get a message and a comment from you guys saying i miscommunicated or should have sat in the chair and let her keep trying to get down a simple fade. The Asian lady/owner of the business doesn't speak very good English and did not understand what taper meant. I left before she could tough my hair to avoid looking like Mr. Clean or Buckwheat. Do yourself a favor and go to Los Plebes Barbershop on Midway instead. read more

I went here for the first time because it was more convenient than going to my regular barbershop over in Mira Mesa. I do not regret going here. Staff was friendly and I got my hair cut very quickly. It was a very nice haircut. I came back the next day to get my eyebrows waxed and they did an excellent job. I will be going here to get my haircuts for now on. I highly recommend it. read more

The decor of 5 Star Barber was not quite 5 star but the haircut I received today was. My gentlemen barbar took his time with my haircut and at first I was not pleased with it but he made some minor correction and boom!! Great hair!! Loved the attention to detail he had as well as his concern for customer satisfaction. Great hair cut with a price well under 20 bucks. I will be going back. read more
