This is a great place if you're interested in a beginning class in mosaic! I just completed the 2-day course (3 hour session on 2 Saturdays via H.A.R.D.) and learned a lot from Christine. She was very helpful, knowledgeable, patient and explained the whole process from choosing a medium (interior vs exterior), adhesives, glass vs tiles, and teaching us how to grout our finished artwork. The price for this 2 day session ($80) is very reasonable compared to other places. If you were to buy (an 8x8 piece of colored glass is about $10 ea.) all the supplies yourself, it would cost way more than the fee for the class. It was nice to have all the supplies available for us to use. Also, if you were to do this at home you would definitely have a mess to clean up afterwards! My only suggestion is to have a simple, design ready before you attend class. That will help save a lot of time so you can focus on what colors you want to use. This business is really a great (and needed) addition for Hayward. Since the opening, Star Arts is continously improving to accomodate every family's need with their various programs. Doesn't matter the age or gender, kids can really get creative, learn some new technics each time and they still have a good time. They touch all types of arts and materials, no limit. The best part is to see the projects done by the kids, they are amazing. I recommended Star Arts to all my friends and neighboors by proudly showing them my kids latest creations. Suzanne has been working on a utility box mural across the street from my home. I've been speaking to her each day and find her to be intelligent, witty, and fun. Her work is a marvel and will be a stunning addition to our neighborhood. I've visited her website and the range and quality of her works is spectacular. I've considered discussing the prospect of a body paint costume for Halloween but don't want to jeopardize our current relationship of professional respect and mutual courtesy.
