Around 1 PM I got a call, he was being called out of the office and couldn't get me my cable but I could get one at another place. Maybe for less. He gave me directions, even told me where to find it in the store. Basically he earned my loyalty for all my computer problems over $10 worth of cable. We were charged a $40 delivery fee for only a few streets away, that is fine I guess. When we contacted the store only a couple of days after receiving the fridge, we were told we had to deal strictly through the warranty. This was unbelievable to us as we wanted to support local and bought it within our community only to find out this. We have been dealing with Frigidaire for over 10 days now of trying to lock in a service man in our area. We were subjected to a service company in Quebec, Les Ateliers Paquette Inc. I have never been subjected to such an ignorant and rude customer service in my life! We were treated poorly by her right out of the gate, given attitude, talked over constantly to the point we simply hung up! To say we will never make another purchase from our local Home Hardware, is an understatement. The fact that we were simply dismissed after spending over $1000.00 om a new fridge only to be tossed within days, that they can't help us, is pathetic! Poor service all around! My Mother has been stressed out all week and I have been constantly on the phone trying to get her a service man! We finally got one today and surprise, the door is faulty and needs replacing. It should have been taken back the same day we called HH and given a new one. No customer should be subjected to this kind of treatment or service! No one called us back to see if anything was resolved either. Not impressed at all and we will definitely pass this along to our friends, family and our neighbors so they don't make the same mistake.

In St. John's (in their current location on Water Street), I found the Newfoundland Crafts Council store and had the pleasure of visiting it a couple times during our stay here. The selection did not disappoint, as I came away with a nice forged letter opener from the Green Family Forge (Trinity) and a nice St. John's house magnet from Northeastern Folk Art. I could have easily done more "damage", but it was early in our trip and I needed to pace myself.

Immediate danger zone - within two minutes of walking in, I had found two pairs of shoes in my size (8... usually impossible to find in consignment) and a dress that turned my head, my cohort in crime found a cashmere sweater for $40 and my mother chirped from each room about one thing or another. It's a great selection of stuff, with some great brand names behind it - they obviously have a good eye for what they select. It's also well laid out over two stories - well lit, clean and packed without being cluttered. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth poking your head in to see what you might find. As far as I could tell, it seems to be only women's fashions but I may have missed a section while I was shoe hunting through the store.

Over the last few years I purchased several items from smiths furniture. I recently purchased a…read moresofa and love seat from them. When it was being delivered, the delivery men did some damage to my home, and they also put the sofa together incorrectly. My hardwood floor was scratched and dented and they loosened my banister by pushing the sofa against it. I called to make a complaint. I was not asking them for anything. I just wanted to speak with someone about it. They sent someone out to take pictures. Then this morning I received a call from a man who was exceptionally rude. He spoke down to me and acted as if I was an imbecile He treated me so poorly that they have lost a customer. He said that when they delivered the set there was nothing else in that room and insinuated that someone else did the damage. I tried to tell him there still isn't anything else in that room. He just spoke over me. Anytime I tried to interject he spoke over me. He pretty much called me a liar and said they would not be able to do anything to help me. However I never once asked for anything. All I asked was to put in a complaint in the hopes that the next time they would send so who would be more careful. Now there will not be a next time. I will be going elsewhere. I have never been treated so poorly by a store that was trying to get my business.
