I work literally across the street I'm frequently in this location 95% of the employees already know who I am very professional when I walk in always greeted and asking if I need any help. Today I go in for a pick up and the women with curly hair and big glasses on the second floor behind the cashier was VERY rude. I said I'm here for a pick up showed my email and ID but I didn't get a barcode on my email but you see what I ordered and it was delivered to them yesterday. Then she tries to explain the process like please I'm here 2x a week I know the process for pick for buying etc, I signed the paper she was very rude explaining it to me to the point I wanted to speak to a manager but I'm on the clock for work and had to run. I called specifically anout the waterproof paper. I was told they could print on 11x17 waterproof paper. When I arrive they said they cannot. The staff in the print center continued to be rude and unhelpful. The printers do not print the same colors as displayed in my graphics. I spent almost as much money on 28# garbage paper with the wrong colors as I spend at FedEx office for quality 11x17 waterproof paper with the correct colors. Disappointingly after learning the Staples on 776 Eighth Avenue in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan is permanently closed I trekked to another Staples that is currently open in operation. I am exhausted from trekking from one Staples to another in dire need of printer ink cartridges I came to this Midtown West location. The checkout queuing line is utterly chaotic without any system or signage in place one for purchases and a separate line for package shipments drop-off. I stood on line waiting to be serviced for twenty minutes and waited, and still waited prominently visible for a Staples associate to serve me. The foyer area of the store is poorly designed for queuing system of a checkout line. An agent of extreme chaos. How hard is it to walk behind the cash registers (where all the brand name printer ink cartridges Epson, Canon, HP, Brother) are located to search for my printer make and model? Years ago, every Staples location had a master book of brand name printer make and model to match the printer ink cartridges number where a Staples associate would quickly locate the cartridge number and distribute it to the customer for checkout. My experience on the Ides of March 2021 was despondent in the shadow of Julius Caesar's demise. There was only one retail cashier who was visibly acquiesce to check her cell phone to search for my printer make and model cartridge number. This female cashier appeared disgruntled with job burnt out as there were no other staff available, possibly furlough due to the effects of COVID-19, there was negative menacing energy emitted at me. The security guard is utter useless to direct customers as "every man for himself" is the belief here. read more

I have had a somewhat better experience, I would say neutral the staff doesn't ignore me standing in front of them... This is the worst staples I have ever dealt with in my life and now I know why a lot of them are closing. I had a ton of stuff to print out and I was told by the illiterate person who answered the phone to email it to a certain address, which I did, having to print out at least 30 different things, after about an hour I received an email from them saying that the email I was given was incorrect and that I had to send it to another address associated with Staples. Apparently the email I was given was for large projects. Upon arriving, I was instructed that I had to go over to a copier and print out each thing using the barcode that was on the email. The scanner on the machine did not work, and other machines were being use (the Place was crowded). It is not as simple as it seems, and even the guy next to me was having issues nobody was around, and I finally asked does anybody work here? Out loud! Finally, an employee came over and showed me. This is all the while a homeless/strung out guy stood near me, and if they had a security guard in disguise and I give them kudos, this was the worst customer service I ever (?) Received. The staff at the shipping center when you walk in are rude and act surprised when you ask them to help you ship something. *****UPDATE:******* they lost my package and refuse to take any responsibility because someone did not give me a tracking receipt, as if that is MY FAULT? They barely let you touch their tape, never mind getting a tracking receipt yourself somehow when the associate was off doing other things while she was working on my shipping. I tried to buy toner and the young woman rolled her eyes and took her time finishing texting her friends before addressing me. On another floor, I asked for help finding glue. I was told to look for it behind a pillar, meaning supplies were actually hidden behind the pillar against a corner where I would have to wedge in there to reach it. Then it wasn't even the correct aisle. The genius employee doesn't know the difference between ink stamping pads and glue. Will absolutely never ship from here again. They expect you to print your own UPS labels before you come OR stand at their computer and type your information in for Steps 1 and 2 (Sender snd Recipient) and then keep calling them back and forth to measure and weigh the package. Ordering online at Staples is a pretty great experience for this Staples - they're responsive by phone and their prices are reasonable for their turnaround time. The woman who answers calls at the print center has the level of customer service I pray for and knows literally everything in response to the array of questions I've asked. Coming here in person is always hectic - they're usually understaffed and have very limited "print from the computer" capabilities. I've seen the tiny queed sized bed space of printing space here be completely filled to the brim. Waiting in line even to just pick up online materials can take a hot minute as there's always a computer user with another question or issue or whatnot. The employees here really do what they can and I'm surprised they don't break down every day handling all the requests and deadlines and computer issues that come in. The quality of stuff I get from Staples is always so-so, but that's what I've come to expect. The posterboard might fray easily or not last as long but you kind of get what you pay for. I get things that are "good enough". This isn't the fault of this store though so no points deducted there. My recommendation? Expand the print center, hire an extra employee, create a more seamless troubleshooting process for all those customers and their problems. Make the computer user interface faster, more intuitive, etc... the whole "print from a computer in-store" process feels like everyone is using Dial-up internet access. Come on Staples, you can make things so much easier than this. If you're coming here - do all your interaction with them elsewhere - especially if it's printing services. If you're already here, hopefully it's not for printing services, but I've never had an issue with checking out/finding what I want in the actual store. The employees are super helpful and aren't intimidating. For that you guys deserve 4 stars (might be a shaky 4, but it's not the fault of the employees, it's the fault of Staples's cruddy computers, lack of space, needy customers, etc...). read more

I don't really write reviews unless the service was extraordinary, which this was. 8.24 I ordered online a custom stamped in the morning and came to pickup earlier than timed. The young gent which the styling hair (I apologize for not remembering his name) helped me. When he saw that I was not satisfied with the size that I had picked (hard to tell online the size) he immediately offered to make another one of the bigger size. Sometimes I wonder why this Staples exists. It's a smaller version of the other ones and it seems to just really be a print center that happens to sell a few supplies upstairs. Sometimes I come in, I get greeted, sometimes not. I will say that when I needed toner and didn't know for the life of me what it was, the employee took her time to find out which toner was right for my printer. I think that's a rarity here though. It's small, but if you're like me, you're always wandering around, because you just KNOW they have that cardboard box/ metallic stapler/ huge bag of m&ms like the other Staples. Um, yeah, they don't. This Staples is pretty decent. At first, I was getting a bad vibe because it's always questionable people standing outside around the establishment. Once inside, however, everyone was nice. They spoke to me when I came in. I made my way upstairs because that's where the electronics are. When I got upstairs, I just walked around, observing different options. Someone made a concerted effort to come where I was and asked if I needed help, but they weren't pushy. That was refreshing. If I could give no stars I would. So I had 3 posters that were supposed to be done yesterday at 5:30. I was in the neighborhood at 4. I figured it wouldnt be done but would just pop in to see. The guy said he hadnt got to it but it'd be done at 5:30. I decided to come back the following day at 2:35. Unbeknownst to me nothing was printed. The gentleman said he came in and it wasnt done. I went for the self-service copiers on a Monday at 5p. They've so much functionality as to not require staff assistance which is key as they're very much slow and overwhelmed with work. The copiers can even accept jobs emailed to them which returns a barcode which you scan on the unit to pull up the file in addition to the usual USB drive insert. I made 11 copies of ledger-sized (11"x17") which went perfectly. Very nice resolution and print quality. Machines are new and work great with big bright user interface so no confidence loss there. It prints the receipt. Many office supplies are kept in stock such as rubber bands, staplers, rulers, pens, refill paper, etc. Retail area looks old, in need of updating albeit it serves the purpose & all Staples in Manhattan are in similar shape. Ok, so I ordered a large banner and a small banner. Large banner was fine but the small one needed to be reprinted. Fine. I come back to pick up the reprint, turns out the reprinted the large banner instead of the small one! They need to send the file to reprint again! Fine. I get a confirmation email that my reprint is done. The lady says it is not there. I show her the confirmation email. She says that the employee probably never asked them to send the banner to the store. So it's done, but it's hanging out at some factory because they carelessly forgot to send it to the store. Ok seriously came here 5 different times and wasted over 2 hours trying to figure this out. What's the point? Why don't they just make self-serving kiosks??? The employees are nice, just completely clueless, understaffed, and empty minded. Got a refund. Sent in a complaint. Selected the option for a manager to call back, they never did. They'll print for you. And they print for me, and will, until I finally get a printer. It's not bad because you can email them your document and then go in to pick it up. Unlike FedEx Kinko's, you don't have to pay by the minute to load up your document and print it yourself. (In fact you can't actually access the computers there, so you have to email in your doc - the address is: cc1574@staplescopycenter.com.) Also unlike FedEx Kinko's, its cheap (16 cents a page for resume paper, vs. $0.49+ for regular paper.) And they're nice. read more

Went to print out some stuff after work only to discover that this particular Staples is trapped in 1998 with painfully outdated computers, a prehistoric version of Internet Explorer and dial-up speed internet that worked maybe 40% of time for the 10 minutes I was there. Do you think nobody in this city has a goddamn Gmail account, Staples? DO YOU? The computer took a dump all over itself trying to open a .zip file for 5 minutes so I gave up and left, $3 poorer and not a printed document in sight. This place is right across the street from my job, so this is my emergency office supplies place when I forgot to order something online. I have varying levels of customer service, upstairs in the store I get a lot of help from all of the employees and wonderful checkout services from the cashiers. But at the copy center... they seem like that hate their jobs. They don't like to come out from behind their desk. I've had one good experience with a copy center member, and maybe she's medicated or high on life, but it was at 8pm during back to school season and she was just the happiest employee you can come across. More power to her. It's an ok place, I mean it's Staples! It's always better to order online and have it delivered to your door... I came in here looking for a frame for an award certificate I received last week. I was presented with a frame but it got shattered in a million pieces because I hadn't had a chance to hang it yet. I went upstairs, using the elevator this time. I asked one of many employees milling about if they sold frames for certificates. The employee directed me to an aisle that had several frames in different sizes and styles. For the size I needed, they had a few to choose from. Once I made my selection I asked if they had the picture hangers. The same employee directed me to where they were displayed.
