Words cannot express how I feel about Dr. Chen and Richmond Plastic Surgeons. I'm very particular…read moreabout who, what, or where I go for any personal services or eateries. I research everything thoroughly, and I'm also very brutally honest. If you don't know how I feel about you in the first five minutes of interacting with me, then you're obviously dead, or close to it. I had been researching for some personal service providers for almost five years. I first went to Richmond Plastic Surgeons in 2018 with one of the other doctors in the practice. I was not ready at the time, but they were on the top of my list. I left feeling disappointed but encouraged. I read both negative and positive reviews about Dr. Chen and the practice, but it's like anything you're spending money on, be it a restaurant or personal care--it's either for you or not. Also, sometimes your spirit is just off, and the timing isn't right. I also saw unbelievable results by patients who had procedures done by him. They always raved about his skills, his bedside manner, and the results. I write reviews often, but only if I feel compelled to share my experiences. I hate to say this and sound insensitive (not really, lol) to the experiences of the other reviewers who felt that they didn't have the best experience with Dr. Chen. I must say that I have read raving reviews about this fake misappropriating Cuban alleged food restaurant in town that serves the nastiest food, and that disgusting place is always jam-packed, which I don't understand. So, I don't take too many reviews seriously. The man is good, but if you feel like crap about yourself and are a sight to begin with, then I don't know that anyone can help you. Also, the one type of practitioner that I DEMAND to be confident and cocky is the effin Plastic Surgeon who's working on me! Jeez Louise! Don't you? You better have a Semi-Stank badass attitude! IJS! I want them so secure and confident about the gifts of God they have been blessed with, that it's almost disgusting, lol. I want to leave assured that they're going to do what I request of them, not what they want to do with me, and I demand brutal honesty. In 2018, I was advised to wait (sometimes we want to do what we want in spite of the risks to everyone; we can be delusional). This year, I finally had enough and bit the bullet and decided it was time to take care of myself. From the moment I met him, I knew he was the one. He was friendly, attentive, professional and confident. He listened to what I wanted and gave me his honest opinion. Dr. Chen advised me that he didn't feel comfortable doing something I requested, and although I wanted what I wanted (delusion overload), I'm glad I listened to the expert. I'm so thankful and glad I went the route Dr. Chen helped me plan out for myself, or my experience might not have been as fruity and pleasant as it was. He explained everything in detail and answered all my questions. He showed me before and after photos of his previous work, and I was blown away by the transformations. I decided to give him a try and booked a consultation. After my procedure he came to the hospital each day I was there, and he and his staff have been accessible through every step! He made me feel comfortable and confident. Angie and Sochi *sp. even made it onto my Christmas list, lol (A very difficult list to get on, lol) I scheduled my surgery, and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. Dr. Chen did for me exactly what I wanted and went beyond my expectations. He is a miracle worker! He gave me the body I always dreamed of, repaired so many of my existing issues, and helped restore the confidence I haven't had in quite some time (believe it or not, I was more confident in my obesity than I am now). He changed my life for the better. If you've never happily cursed or cried, then he's not the doctor for you, but every time I look at myself, I don't believe the transformation, and can't believe how much easier Dr. Chen and his team made my healing process go. The practice is only as good as its leadership, and you better believe the team is thorough (another significant selling point). They were caring, supportive, and helpful throughout the whole process. They made me feel like family. My reviews are pretty consistently my authentic self. I'm not saying he might not have been an ass to someone, or someone at the practice dropped the ball, that has happened to me. IJS do your due diligence, don't take it from me. At the end of the day, it's all about me! I can't recommend Dr. Chen and Richmond Plastic Surgeons enough. If you're looking for a top-notch plastic surgeon who can deliver amazing results, look no further than Dr. Chen. He is the best of the best. Trust me, you won't regret it. Thank you, Dr. Chen, for making me look and feel fabulous! You are a star! I'm so f*****g grateful & happy!!

She said the spot on my cheek was nothing but was happy to charge me a few hundred bucks for whatever she did to my forehead. Now that my personal information had been captured I was also provided with a document stating that I would be responsible for any charges that the insurance would not cover up to the amount of $1500.00. This organization stated that they would have full access to my personal account and could make withdrawals at will and I would be notified via email prior to the withdrawal. At that very moment I felt extremely uncomfortable with the arrangement but thinking that I would be adequately notified I would be able to adjust accordingly. Here's where the whole program falls apart. Taking it from the top the first charge, a $25.00 co-pay was debited from my account on 08/16/2016. The second charge of $51.41 was debited from my account on 09/06/2016 and I was never notified. Approximately a week later I was debited with a charge of $104.00 again not notified. I caught this in process and asked it be stricken and a stop put on any further charges, (date cannot be provided because it is no longer on the ledger,) action was reversed. On 09/13/2016 I get hit a second time for the same charge of $104.00 and this time it has been processed, a temporary credit was issued and was reversed on 11/30/2016 finding no fault on the part of your organization. Now mind you, this organization hit my account three times in a period of only seven days with each and every time I have not been notified. Suddenly I'm an ATM for Christine Rauch! I reiterate, I was NEVER notified by email, (or any other form for that matter) of any impending withdrawal. Closer examination of the documents forwarded to me from the banking institution had revealed that one of their staff had input my email address incorrectly as baherden@verizon.net instead of the correct address. Given that this can prove to be a most critical factor it would behoove Dr Rauch and her staff to confirm this information rather than take it for granted. Clearly this organization deserves to be paid, I don't take issue with that. I take issue with this organization being paid at the expense of cleaning out my bank account and leaving me with not so much as enough cash to buy gas in order to go to work the next morning. I am currently 68 years of age, (was 63 at the time of the procedure.) I have an advanced education in aviation, I am grossly underemployed as well as under paid. Since I do live paycheck to paycheck these people have absolutely no idea what it's like to have your checking account cleaned out and you have to knock on someone's door at five in the morning hoping to borrow $20.00 so you can get to work? It's coming to the point where it's no longer a service for a fee, it's all about sucking someone's bank account dry. It's beginning to feel like it's a contest to see who can empty my bank account first. I understand that Dr. Rauch's husband is an emergency room triage doctor. Everyone should be justly compensated for their knowledge and intelligence. Between the two of them I'm willing to wager that together they are knocking down half a million a year. It's really a shame that they have to resort to unscrupulous means to accomplish their wealth. Having worked as a trained and licensed aircraft mechanic were my associates and myself are required to maintain and fly aircraft, were the aviation field to be handled like this office has handled my account there would be a bunch of broken aircraft, a whole lot of dead people and someone would most certainly be going to jail. The medical treatment was excellent, the way I was treated on the business side of the house is absolutely deplorable. If I had to do it again and was diagnosed stage four cancer I would turn and walk the other way rather than to be subjected to this kind of abuse. Brings new meaning to the aged term, "A license to steal." Makes me wonder if a crime has been committed?

Their surgical facility looks like a full hospital theater from pre through post op recovery. It was in recovery that I was invited to see her as she came out of general anesthesia so I could listen to and remember what her surgeon and assistants said to her about the procedure. Sure enough, even though she asked questions, she couldn't remember anything that was said for another half hour as her cognition slowly returned. Everything went very well with the eyelid reconstruction. Turned out there was no need for skin graft, as the surgeon was able to stretch and extend her remaining eyelid, which was the least invasive method available. We were very pleased with the time spent with her in recovery making sure she was ready to go home with all questions answered to the best of their ability. They gave her light drink and snack to help with minor gastric discomfort that was anticipated as part of the post operative process. Too, she hadn't eaten since midnight and she was very hungry. Two days later when she removed the bandages this morning it did look like she had been punched in the eye, but there was only minimal swelling and she was able to see clearly from both eyes. She has instructions on how to continue with the recovery and a date in a few days to visit her local ophthalmologist who began this story with a keen observation and recommended follow up testing and specialist consultations. FIVE GRATEFUL STARS PS. All that is needed for perfection would be to offer the surgery and best physicians in Newport News to avoid the nearly four hour drive to/from Richmond. Had we been confronting a worse case scenario, this travel necessity would have been incredibly problematic. Thank G-d, it wasn't.

I am deeply disappointed with my experience and surgical outcome…read more I underwent a liposuction and abdominoplasty with this surgeon and the results were not what was promised or reasonably expected. The incision was placed approximately 2 cm higher than where it should have been, causing my belly button to sit noticeably higher and giving my waist a squared appearance rather than a contoured one. Despite undergoing liposuction, there is still noticeable residual fat remaining on my abdomen. In addition, the incision was closed without adequate tightening, leaving visible bulging above and below the incision that creates a quilted or puckered appearance. I now have a pooch that I did not have prior to surgery. Liposuction of my flanks and lower back was missed entirely -- not once, but twice. I even underwent a second liposuction procedure, and the flanks were still not properly addressed. The ends of the incision also have what appear to be "dog ears," further affecting the cosmetic outcome. Despite raising these concerns, providing photos, and attempting to have a reasonable discussion, the surgeon would not acknowledge the issues or take responsibility. I was repeatedly told that "no harm was done," and therefore no refund or corrective support was offered, even though the agreed-upon services and expected results were not delivered. This has been an emotionally and physically difficult experience. I am now seeking revision care elsewhere. Based on my outcome and the lack of accountability afterward, I would not recommend this surgeon to anyone considering body contouring procedures. Feel free to reach out 540-336-8162 for more info of my experience with this surgeon. Happy to provide more before and after photos as well. See this surgeon results in attached photos.

I've seen Dr Sundin at this practice for my upcoming liposuction. He was very friendly, professional, and thorough in explaining my options, treatment, follow up, and answered all my questions. My surgery is tomorrow and I feel very confident thanks to the doctor. Based on the outline I've been given, I don't expect hidden fees (obviously if that changes I'll say something). I have already gotten my medication for post surgery recovery so I won't have to worry about running astound, exhausted and in pain waiting to get my meds. Everyone has been super friendly and helpful and despite youse being elective surgery, no one has come even close to body shaming me which I appreciate. I'm happy with my body and weight, with the single exception that I'm going in to address. At no point did the doctor attempt to disparage any part of my body, even what I came in to address, only asked what I wanted. Edit: Post surgery I can't tell if the hospital tried to double charge me or if there was a genuine computer issue, but the intake rep was great and only charged the correct amount. The lead up in hospital was friendly and helpful, answered all my questions ahead of time. My follow up is later today since one of my incision sites is leaking. Overall, I'm very sore, but only in minor (threatening to verge into extreme) pain when I move or make to stand up. My legs feel fine so I keep thinking I should walk around, but I know better thankfully. The drainage site is right at my panty line so I'm having to wear my panties a few inches lower than I normally do which is a little annoying but whatever. Depending on when surgery is, I definitely recommend dresses immediately following to accommodate access to drainage bulbs. I left around 5pm yesterday and got home and settled at 6pm after my scheduled start asst 12 noon. That's all I can think to share that's relevant but if I think of more, I will of course edit.

I had a breast reduction back in 2008 which never made me happy. The result was not what I wanted or asked for. The insecurities I had surrounding my body, never vanished. Not only did that doctor not listen to me, but he made me feel like he knew what I needed more than I did. To top it off, he didn't remove enough breast tissue to support the lift and ultimately, I bottomed out. Fast forward to one year ago. Dr. Reddy performed a flawless execution of my breast reduction with bra line lipo. I gritted through pain and recovery all the while smiling from ear to ear because I could finally feel the literal weight off of my shoulders. Dr. Reddy asked so many questions, laid out clear expectation and cared. She cared so much. Over the past year, I have bonded with Dr. Reddy and I'm already plotting my next procedure. Partly because I trust her so much, but also (not an insignificant amount) I'll miss seeing her regularly. She's funny, witty, matches my humor and can laugh at herself as well as laugh at me (and with me). And don't get me started on her staff. Top notch, chefs kiss. Especially Courtney who cared for me post-op and held my hand through so much of my recovery. Bottom line, these ladies are pure magic. If you're having any hesitations, book that consult. I guarantee you'll book that procedure with the same confidence I have. Because I'm not an anomaly. This is the Reddy Plastic Surgery Gold Standard of care!

I was being vulnerable and open about what I had been through in the past in regards to body shaming, fear of gaining weight and other private matters. While I thought her assistant was taking professional notes, she was in fact commenting on my body in a private message to another employee. Laughing and making jokes. I'm pretty sure what happened to me has happened before to many other patients. I just so happen to catch them on this day. I wish I hadn't because now it haunts me. Bullying is serious and people take their lives from situations like this daily. No matter their age. I say all of this to let others know that you may be subject to the same thing. You think you're in a safe place at a plastic surgeon's office. Things are supposed to be private. You're being vulnerable and open. But they will talk about you behind your back. I found out because after my pre-op she handed me an iPad where the whole conversation was visible. They didn't know the conversation was open for me to see. The iPad was to sign pre-op documents. I was offered my money back by Dr. Reddy to go elsewhere and also a discount on surgery. I was comfortable with Dr. Reddy and trusted her so I moved forward with surgery. She had nothing to do with what they said. And told me there would be consequences for their actions. Yet, they still work there as of today! I suffered mentally after more than I thought. I have PTSD just going back to her office. I am almost 4 weeks post op and I refuse to go anywhere near the place! I asked for more of my money back to seek therapy for what her employees did. I was refused by Dr. Reddy. Just be wary and cautious. I felt red flags in my gut but didn't listen.
