Got my deer processed here, great service, great prices and easy. They have a lot of options to choose from, about as many as you need.

This place is a blast from the past. No self checkouts here. The store is fairly expensive IMO. They have some exotic meats which is why I came here as well as a number of preseasoned meats, bacon, fajitas, chicken wings etc. However they didn't have any wild boar which is what I wanted. They have a better selection of meats compared to sprouts but you can get the exotic meats elsewhere for a little cheaper. It's an interesting little store if you are passing by or live in the area but it's not worth a long commute unless you like small town stores with old fashioned hospitality. read more

We love shopping their specialty meat. They even have smoke bones for doggies. Great meat packs. There a restaurant inside which has a great breakfast with coffee refills. They even gave us a free annual calendar. Best meat value. Plenty of parking space especially for large vehicles. read more

Folding grocery baskets greet you at the door- watch your fingers. Any meat you want is in the coolers. Friendly people await you in the tool shop and if you want a baby chicken, you can get one. Sadly dying local shop and restaurant. I stopped in around lunchtime for a few groceries and a meal. Standard greasy diner food, not for the health conscious or vegetarians. Ordered the chicken tenders and fries. Both were incredibly bland. Unsalted French fries are such a cardinal sun I just can't look past anything else. The store itself had depressing, rotting produce; and the household basics are outlandishly expensive ($6 for store brand eggs?!?) The kitschy spice rubs and jerky were a little tempting but again inappropriately priced. Rest In Peace - I won't be coming back and I understand why others are not either. read more

Husband found this place and decided to give it a try. We bought chorizo, marinated chicken and sausage. Can I say wow!! Great flavor. Husband put the chicken and sausage on the grill. HUNTERS BEWARE!!! We dropped off deer meat from the two deer my boys had harvested over the weekend. When we dropped the deer off it was fresh in a cooler with plenty of ice. We were told it would take two weeks to have the meat processed into sausage and that was fine with us. 26 days later we stopped to check on our meat and had them bring it out to us. The second we opened the cooler the smell of rotten meat was overwhelming, and the meat was discolored. The store offered a discount on the processing, but we declined because we did not want to consume rotten meat. They said if we weren't happy with it, we could take the meat home. We did take the meat and disposed of it. We will not have the opportunity to harvest any more meat this year and depend on it to feed our family. I would have never imagined a store that has been here so long doing this to a family. If we hadn't checked on the meat because we were concerned, they would have processed it and we would have paid top dollar for that service just to eat rotten meat. (while we were waiting for our meat to be brought out, we chatted with other customers who said their meat had taken 5 weeks to process) read more

WOW! This is really a different place to shop. It is a unique combination of hardware store, grocery store, hot foods and feed shop. If anyone is is looking for alligator steak then why are you going anyone else??? There really isn't a big selection but it is more unique. Also if you bag a deer they have a special to dress out your kill. My wife bought some meats at a good price. But she said it wasn't worth coming out this far. You can see that it is frequented by locals. Afterward we sat down and ordered a couple of burgers. My wife had the bacon burger which was stacked high with their own in house bacon. My burger was a jalapeño burger which was quite unique. I expected the jalapeños to be in the burger. Noooo! They were simply green peppers stacked on the burger! Huh???? The burgers were thin but very tasty. The fries were crunchy and freshly made. The restaurant was so squeaky clean that my wife thought they were closed. The entire staff were very friendly. This really is a small Texan town for us New Yorkers. Oh yes they had indoor working toilets. I know because I used it! read more

I haven't ever been to this store, but rest assured, I'll be going back! They had the nicest selection of meats, cheese, in house cut bacon, and in house made sausage and boudain. I purchased an awesome roast that had perfect marbeling, 2 packages of sausage (venison/pork and buffalo/pork), 1 pkg of boudain that had 4 links in it, 2 pkgs of thick cut peppered bacon, a block of swiss cheese and a few extra things and didn't break the bank! The roast was so tender and had a fresh flavor that is hard to find at the regular grocery store chains. The boudain was incredible and had the best flavor! The bacon..... Well, it just doesn't compare! I have been so frustrated at the price of bacon and the fact that it's so fatty. This bacon had more meat than fat and left very little grease in the skillet. Just enough to fry an egg without boiling the egg in grease. The girl at the checkout was super friendly and wore a smile. There is alot more that this store has available including a wide variety of different types of sausage and bacon. I highly recommend anyone to check out this hidden gem in Alvin! read more

When I need something to throw on the grill or slice up for a good meaty snack, I first head to Stanton's. I could go on about it myself, but Steve D pretty well said it all. I can add that its been around since the 20's, it has the best chorizo and marinated chicken items that are frozen and make an instant meal (for the grill), I really enjoy their south Texas sweet summer sausage and their smoked pork jowl is perfect for seasoning your beans, cabbage and the like. And hat's off to Mr. Stanton for the redo of the front of the grocery store and opening up the walk way. read more

My LH and I started shopping at Stanton's when we lived in Kemah. The drive was well worth the shopping experience, and friendly service. Now I make the drive over from Missouri City. What can I say, from Rind-On Bacon, to prime steaks, smoked polish sausages, a large variety of cheeses, chicken, and so much more, Stanton's is my go-to market. They carry a great array of quality cast iron cookware too. Long live Stanton's! read more

Best bacon anywhere, friendly staff, and great deer sausage! Found out about Stanton's after Alan started advertising on public television. The meat processing costs are a little higher than what I am accustomed to paying but the quality makes it worth it. Every time I am there I stock up on bacon. I recommend the apple wood smoked bacon. South Texas sweet bacon is good too but difficult to cook without burning due to the high amount of sugar. read more

We love our neighborhood market.They process game as well. My daughter got her first buck last year and they processed it for us. They did a great job. We also get our ribs and all our meet here. The veggies are usually more fresh than other big stores so we like to check out what they have first. We have yet to eat in the diner, but we always see people enjoying themselves so we will join them one day soon. read more

I like the layout of this place in the heart of downtown Alvin, Texas. It's not only a grocery store but it's also a hardware and building goods store on the other side. I was drawn here because they cure and smoke their own bacon and make their own sausage. The bacon remind me of good down home country style bacon. You can even get it with the rind still on it to add that crunchy bite! Didn't take time to check out the hardware side, but next time in in there I will. It looks like they also had a little coffee shop area and served kind of breakfast. But again I had other places to go at the time and didn't check it out. The restaurant has the BEST COFFEE EVER. I don't like black coffee but I'll drink it here! Our waitress was really kind. The store has a great selection of different types of meats. They have 2 tables of cookies and brownies near the registers and they are heavenly. read more

There is no denying that Stanton's is anything but centrally located, unless you already live in Alvin. But that being said, it is well worth the trip down 35/288/6 (take your pic)to get out there once in a while. While they do offer a full grocers, this will likely be where you spend the least of your time while visiting -with the exception being their speciality meat dept. we picked up a few choice selections on our last visit. Cornbread stuffed chicken (roast breast side down @ 400 for 1 hour, then turn oven down to 225 and cook till reaching an internal temp of 200 - trust me it will not be overcooked) also got peach, pecan and jalapeno marinated chicken thighs (3 different kinds), peach bratwurst, smoked rabbit sausage (was mazing grilled with Stubb's Honey Pecan BBQ sauce) Picked up some assorted beef sticks (elk, buffalo, deer, and the flavor variety pack) But the hands down winner so far was the Jalapeno & cheese Elk Summer Sausage - man, this made quite a few delicious snacks in the afternoons over the weekend and jsut the right mix of spice, lean, fat, chew, etc... I would make trip back just for more of this. Very curious to try the alligator sausage. we have a few more items in the freezer that make Stantons worth it as a meat market alone elk burger, buffalo roast, whole froze rabbit, the list goes on and on. The hardware store reminded me of southlands in the montrose/near town district in Houston, everything you might ever need and somethings you never thought you did. Loved walking around the feedstore section -just a word to the wise, if you go see the ducks and chicks, WASH YOUR HANDS! cuz you are gonna have a hard time not eating beef sticks on the way home. read more

We drove to Stanton's on Sept. 20, 2013 from Wharton, Tx. and had such a great time looking around and shopping with our friends from San Antonio, Tx. We found many fun and interesting things to buy. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We met Allen Stanton and he was very friendly .He visited with us for a long time. We enjoy watching his commercials on Channel 8 but to see him in person was even better. We have eaten a lot of the things we purchased that day and it has all been wonderful. We will be back. I would give this place zero stars if it were possible. I came to Stanton meats because of all the raving reviews I read but let's just say.... they did NOT live up to the hype. I dropped a deer off for processing over 2 weeks ago and they lied for weeks telling me that the deer was almost ready. Come to find out they had yet to begin. I drove over an hour to pick up my deer they lied about and when I got there I had the worst customer service ever to exist. The cashier was rude and the staff was even worse. The treated me like I was dirt on the bottom of their shoes rolling their eyes with their noses in the air. They left my yeti cooler covered in blood and rotting for weeks without washing it before returning it to me and then had the audacity to question if the cooler was actually mine. I was charged $90 for deboning when they never even processed the deer they lied about. Needless to say, I do NOT recommend them. Rude people. Lies. Terrible service. Period. STAY AWAY! read more

Went here to pick up some pork bellies to make my own bacon but they were out. Instead ended up picking up some Stanton bacon. The cure and smoke were good and the quality was terrific. The bacon didn't cook down to nothing. The only issue that kept me from giving them five stars was that the bacon wasn't cut the same thickness. Most slices wee thick and proper but there would be a random paper thin slice every so often. Just an example of poor QA/QC. Otherwise it was a fun shopping experience. Its good to see that old school family owned businesses do still exist. The selection and mainly the quality of the meats, sausages etc is impressive. Top notch. Their meat department has done wild game processing for me a few times done a great job, well packaged and is reasonably priced. The other things I really like about Stanton's is they have a hardware store, Feed store, Appliances and all sorts of other stuff in one place. Its just fun to walk around with the kids and check everything out. Last year in the early spring they even have baby chickens for sale in the feed store which was cool. It makes me think of how things used to be back in the old days of "General Stores" that sold just about everything. If you need some groceries, an oven, horse feed, baby chickens and a 2x4 this is the place for you! read more

Alvin has a small town charm and Stanton's helps maintain the home town feeling. This is more like a General Store where you can buy lawn and garden supplies, have keys made, buy a gift, or pick up groceries. I have been seeing commercials for Stanton's for years, but never had occasion to go see what they had. Finally, after one too many pork chops with the consistency of a dish sponge from the big name stores in my area, the wife and I decided to make the thirty-something mile trip to see if they had a better quality of meat products. I love the old store vibe of the place, and that it was clean. We were pleasantly surprised by the variety of meats and offerings. We bought much more than planned, but wanted to give everything a try. Several meals later, two things are clear: 1. The trip was worth it, and, 2. We'll be making more trips in the future! The quality of the meats is apparent on first taste. Thick sliced bacon is actually thick, and remains so through cooking on the griddle. The chicken (marinated) cooked perfectly on the grill, and made one meal as an entree, and a second cooked into a pot pie. The pork chops... oh, happy day, actually tasted like pork chops! No watery, spongy taste at all, just great flavor when baked. We have more to go, but I have no fear the quality will be there. We'll do our regular shopping locally, but plan a once-a-month trek to Stanton's for all of our meat supplies! read more

I had a selection of game meats from Stantons for my birthday. It made for a great experience. I was surprised at how much I liked the Kangaroo sausage, Everything was really great. I don't like close to Stanton's but I plan on making the trip often. The prices are very reasonable as well, and its just a great place to shop. read more
