I really think that the owners had friends to write reviews. I am a person who will make a phone call to compliment great services as well as to complain about a negative experience. I went into this location today only because I decided to go fishing at the last minute and did not feel like going to Walmart like I would usually do. Upon arriving I had to wait a good 3 to 5 minutes for someone to come to open the store up to let us in. That was not a big problem, but a young child came down, opened the store up and asked us what we needed. We replied worms. The child counted the worms out and told us we owed him 4.55 cents, we questioned the price because it was a sign hanging showing 3.45. The child corrected us by showing us that he gave us larger worms and the price was different. I should have actually walked away when a child came down to take care of us. We paid for the worms and left. Upon arriving at the location to fish which was 15 minutes away from the bait store we began to fish. Five hours later every worm that we had purchased was DEAD! Just as the fishing trip. I contacted the number to the shop via text and gave my complaint. The person receiving the text was very RUDE and that should have been expected. To send a child down to take care of a customer is totally not alright, especially when it is unsupervised. I totally get a parent trying to make a child responsible, but when running a business a grown up should have been there overseeing/assisting. When giving my complaint, the person I was texting asked me why would I have paid for dead worms. I will just assume she was not understanding when I said that the worms died AFTER me purchasing them; I am not understand why she would think that I would have paid for dead worms and complained 5 hours later about them still being dead if that was the case. NO! THEY ALL DIED 5 HOURS AFTER PURCHASE!!!!! The conversation ended with the owner stating that if I was having luck at Walmart with worms I should keep going there then they piggyback and stated that they would chose Cabela over Walmart. I would chose anyone over them. The customer service there suck and whomever I was conversating with via text will never have to worry about me every entering the store again. I would not go to that store if they were selling 80 worms and giving another 80 away for free. They also said that they don't sell dead bait, but had a bucket of dead crawfish sitting right by the cash register. The only thing that was alive and kicking were the 100's of flies that were not caught on the various fly traps throughout the store. The store smelled like an outhouse and for those who are saying "Well its a bait store." NO, NO, NO, I have gone in bait stores literally all over the world and have never smelled this kind of funky oder. The person suggested for me to use another store in which I will do and will aslo suggest to other while I am out fishing and telling them about the awful customer service at Stains Bait shop in Hammond Indiana. I wish I could give in a -5 for poor customer service. I should be glad that the kid serviced me, at least the kid was friendly. read more
