My Husband I were married here last July 28, 2012, at the Stone Steps with our reception in the Maples Hall. We have nothing but wonderful things to say from the get go about our wedding day at Stanleys.
Coming from a small town, I have certain expectations about costumer service and people skills. I had nothing but great service from all the employees, even the parking lot attendants the day of the wedding. We had several elderly guests at our wedding, and Earl made sure there was a golf cart there in the parkinglot waiting for my guests to arrive, and escorted them to and from the pictures and reception hall. I am still, (over a year later) hearing wonderful things about our wedding venue from our guests.
When we went in for our initial consultation, we met with the owner, Earl. I thought it was a very nice touch to have our first meeting and tour of the grounds with the person who runs the show. Earl was very helpful in providing MANY different options we could have for our big day "sky's the limit" he told us. After a tour of the absolutely breathtaking grounds, (I believe something like 8 or 9 acres of gardens and grassy areas) we sat down and he gave us a VERY detailed price list, keeping things as close to our budget as he could. Everything was broken down for us, from ground rentals, government fees, chairs, tables, linens, food, you name it, it was on there. He told us now to go and cross the things off that we didnt want, and if we changed our mind later we could add them back in. We did, with many things himmed and hawed, and our billing was changed accordingly.
Through the planning stage we communicated with many of the girls in the office. If we had a question about food, the CHEF would respond to the email, because they were the best one to respond. When I had MANY questions regarding setup and colours and tables and chairs, the owners wife Joy sat with us for what still seems like a LONG time and we picked out EXACTLY what table cloth goes on what table, and we could play around with the linens and centerpieces. We did, unfortunately have an slight issue with the linen choices, our colour didnt come in the linen sample. Joy took it upon herself to FIND a company that carried a very similar colour and brough it in special for us.
the day of the wedding I was about an hour late getting to the ceremony. I never felt rushed, and being able to have my dad bring his antique car right to the ceremony location was amazing! My dad was so thrilled to be able to walk his daughter down the aisle the was he always imagined it.
We used Stanleys in house catering company, and we were able to pick OUR OWN menu! I was very excited because my husband can be picky when it comes to wedding food, especially dessert. We really love pecan pie, and it wasnt on the pre-made menu. I asked, and we received very generous portions of pecan pie and whip cream. We found out AT DINNER there were a few guests who couldnt eat the pecan pie for various reasons, and without delay the kitchen was pumping out fruit cups!! I couldnt believe that they would even think to prepare something else just in case!
I should also mention throughout the entire day we had this very pleasent young girl who was with me right from the time I arrived, to when our limo came to get us. she fixed my train and veil at the ceremony and brought us out drinks and appetizers while we were taking pictures. it was so great to actually get to eat ALL the food I paid for.
All in All we had such a wonderful wedding day, and I cannot extend my gratitude to the staff at Stanleys Olde Maple Lane Farm for their wonderful hospitality. I recommend any of my family and friends to take a look here when they are planning their big day. I cant wait for my ten year vow renewal! We will for sure be a 2nd time Bride and Groom!
A (still after a year) very happy Bride! read more
