This place is massive! You could easily spend the entire day here and still not see everything! I was really impressed by how well-organized it was, especially for such a large space. The selection was great, and while prices were a bit on the higher side, that's expected when you're supporting a local business rather than a big box store like Home Depot or Lowe's. You also pay for quality of the plants and service, so don't let the prices scare you. My only complaint is the limited selection of perennials. They had tons of houseplants, annuals, and other varieties, but the perennial section felt a bit lacking. Still, the overall experience was amazing. One tip: if you get easily distracted or overwhelmed, maybe visit once just to look around, then come back with a list. I made the mistake of trying to browse and shop at the same time and ended up leaving empty-handed because there were just so many options. (Not a bad problem to have--just be prepared!) Wife brought home 3 packs of plants...so 36 total. I noticed some of them already looked in bad shape and basically dead, to the point where it was just rotten stems or none at all. We sent pictures and were told they just looked dried out, so I watered them all down...well that seemed to pretty much finish them off. The shady thing is my wife didn't know anything about it, so they picked them out for her. read more

STANLEYS GREENHOUSE IS AMAZING!!! It takes you a few minutes to wrap your head around it all! It's so big, so start at one end and go up and down each aisle, then go outside, the adventure takes a couple hours at least. Your cheating yourself if you don't allow your self the time to enjoy the options! Their price on plants are exceptional and the varieties are amazing! I had not seen half of what they had and the buggy's allow you to go for it!! Their sales people are experienced and helpful, the lines to check out , if long, move fast! I love this place! Warning: I came here to buy a few trees/bushes for my cabin.... And left with a totally reimagined backyard at home. Cha-Ching! Hahaha... but seriously, I was inspired to better-develop my outdoor space and love the ideas Stanley's brought to mind. The staff here is so friendly and helpful. I love their insight and input. I love Stanley's, I think this place has a lot of heart and the quality of their plants is usually great. I will say, the staff is phenomenal. My car died in their parking lot one day and an employee actually pulled her car over and helped me get it started. They are always incredibly helpful and sweet when you are in-store. I'm hoping the plant quality and availability improves since it has taken a slight dip lately, but I've heard this is due to unforeseen issues they can't control, so I'm not going to let that impact the impression they've made with me over otherwise many years of absolute perfection. read more

Stanley's has an amazing section of plants. Great indoor plants, great outdoor plants. High quality and lots of varieties. They have excellent prices on their plants, very reasonable. They have pots, containers and decorative pieces to die for - although some of the prices on those items were pretty high. If you are a plant or garden fan, this is a dangerous store to visit. You will want all the things. Staff members were also friendly and helpful in answering questions and there's a nice house dog. read more

I live about 115 miles from Knoxville. I discovered Stanley's while doing an internet search for David Austin Roses. How lucky am I? I preordered 4 roses. The bad part of doing this is making your preference known in Feb and not getting your rose til the end of April or May. So worth the wait. They get the roses as bare root and grow them for a couple of months. I was totally blown away. The roses were huge and so healthy looking. In the meantime I had ordered a couple of roses which came planted but very small. Easy to understand considering they are being sent thru the mail or delivery service. Next year, I will happily wait for my roses from Stanley's. And not to forget the staff there is SO nice and knowledgeable. I am happy to make a long drive to shop at Stanley's. read more

I love Stanley's so much! It's one of those places that if I have had a bad day, I step through the doors and it all melts away. Seriously, how can you have a bad day when you are surrounded by beautiful plants? That's right. You can't. Stanley's blows all of the big box nurseries out of the water. Their staff alone is reason to keep coming back. They are trained well and love what they do. They will go out of their way to find the answer to any question that you have. They are always happy and very friendly. Their selection is crazy good. This is where I start my garden season because I know that they will have everything that I am looking for. Their succulent section is the best in town. And you can find anything garden related that you may be looking for. My all-time favorite thing about Stanley's is that all of the plants are grown on site. It's as local as local gets. All of their plants are super healthy and they have had great care taken of them. Because they do all of the work from seed to plant, their prices are very reasonable. Next time you have a bad day, do yourself a favor. Just make a stop here. It's cheaper than the mall and better for you than ice cream. Just sayin'. read more

Would definitely come back here for my garden needs. They have an extensive selection of anything you'd want for your garden. The areas are pretty well labelled too...from trees to shrubs to greenery and ground cover to flowers, herbs, and vegetables to any possible garden accessory or accent one might need. Their prices are either comparable to the regular big box stores or more expensive, depending on what you're looking for. The vegetables and the herbs were comparable; the flowers were actually more expensive. But such a variety not found in other places! I was looking for some vegetables and herbs to round out my garden for the year. I actually didn't find any, but they do have a solid selection. They have a lot of different tomato varieties, which I would have tried if it wasn't for the fact that I had managed to already gather 12 different varieties from other sources. They also do have varieties of peppers, eggplants, squashes, lettuce, cabbage, and cruciferous vegetables. Same with the herbs. I was hoping for some more unique items such as broccoli rabe or winter savory or perilla...but no luck. They do have some of the more trendy herbs such as lemongrass and stevia and chocolate mint. And the quality as a whole is pretty good. I did find lemon balm in the seed aisle, but there was only one cashier open on this weekend day with 10 people deep in line. That stopped me from buying since we didn't want to wait that long to buy one seed packet. Maybe on a weekday I'll be back. They do a lot of education sharing, which is a big plus in my book. Also, there is no sales tax on the plants you buy! Score! Not only do they have an awesome selection, but they also have an incredibly knowledgable staff that can help you find the right plant for your situation (without intimidating the botany-newbies). I went here last weekend with my wife, the staff were all kind enough to direct us to the right plants to have in our bedroom, complete with advice on what would work best given the amount of light and the direction our windows faced. They also carried a great selection of really cool planters to help us get something that would look really nice indoors, and they have a potting station where someone can help you get your plant transferred into its new planter for a small fee. I can't recommend this place enough, I'd give them six stars if I could. read more

An afternoon wandering through Stanley's is probably the most calming consumer experience you can imagine. This review would be five stars but for my experience there today during this COVID crisis. WAY too many people at Stanley's at once; it was a mob. And NO physical distance. It's a beautiful spring day, yes, so that explains the crowd. But there are things other retailers are doing that Stanley's could do to reduce the potential exposure - the most obvious is limiting the number of people allowed to shop at once. Instead of the normal, peaceful Stanley's experience, the seeming unrestrained crowd made it anxiety-provoking and legitimately dangerous. Can't wait to update this to five stars when everyone has adapted to the new post-COVID normal. read more

They also have a good selection of flower pots and garden accessories. Probably more importantly, the customer service here is terrific. I went to Stanley's Greenhouse to find a starter plant for my blooming love of carnivorous plants. I emailed them what I was looking for, and they responded within two days about what carnivores they have currently. I got a Nepenthes x. Ventrata (a hybrid between Nepenthes Ventricosa and Nepenthes Alata) that had a few pitchers forming. As of now, the plant has been sending out vines like crazy, and has four large pitchers and a few more large pitchers on the way. I definetely recommend Stanley's Greenhouse if you are a CP hobbyist and want a decent selection of healthy CPs! read more
