Needed to see a dermatologist urgently and couldn't get into either of the 2 big offices in Bellevue for 4 MONTHS!! One of the offices said if it was really an emergency they could see me (and my daughter) in 6 weeks..... I remembered that my husband and gone and seen Dr Bunas several years ago and like him. I called them up and they got us in 2 days later! Very nice office, the nurses were super nice and efficient. Dr Bunas took time to listen and thoroughly examined me and my daughter to try and figure out how to get rid of the skin infection that we had (no one else in our house had it). It is/was one of the worst things I've ever had, he was knowledgeable, compassionate and got us on our way to recovery. If you need a top notch dermatologist and can't wait 4 months to be seen, this is the office for you! read more

Although staff here is polite enough, I was disappointed to have paid so much to have visited with Mr Bunas for just over 15 minutes and without any resolution. He informed me of the name of my skin condition (which I already knew going in), gave me a couple pamphlets (which taught me nothing new), and advised me to check out Wikipedia for more info (????). I was then told to purchase over-the-counter meds and to return for multiple visits so he can monitor it (but not cure or even relieve the insane itching all over my skin, so really, what's the point of that?!). During the same 15 minute visit, I asked if he removes moles and he tells me I would have to make another appointment to discuss that. I was confused and thought maybe he mistook my question for a request to actually remove the mole then and there, so explained I was actually just wondering if he provided that service on non-cancerous moles at all since my previous dermatologist did not remove non-cancerous moles. He again tells me he can answer all other questions on my next visit. Apparently it takes a whole different visit to ask whether the service is provided, another visit to get the mole looked at, and ANOTHER visit or two (or who know how many visits he'd try to squeeze out) to actually get them removed?? Even though a yes or no answer would've taken all but half a second?? Seems like a shady way of forcing patients to repeatedly come back to rack up those bucks to me. On top of it all, I got charged twice the rate of my previous dermatologist, for an office visit that was only 15 minutes long. read more

While we were initially really impressed with his office and service, we've been repeatedly surprised at the bills we received for what were very short office visits. On a related note, it's pretty ridiculous how the medical industry thinks it's acceptable to render services without giving the individual ANY idea how much they're going to be billed. read more

My High School kid had hot flashes all his back and we struggled to identify some one referred us to this joker. He made him go through ultrasound for his stomach and scrotum. Then finally asked to use soap to take good shower. I was so mad at him for wasting his precious time in high school with all the course loads. He was taking ice packs to the college board exams. I found Dr. Bunas on Yelp and chose him based good reviews here and the fact that his office is about five minutes from mine. I've had eczema all my life and twitchy, cranky skin, but I've managed to stay out of the dermatologist's office for fifteen years. Last week, I developed a disgusting set of blisters on two of my fingers that quickly turned into an oozing, bleeding, cracked mess. Just for fun, it was itchy, tender, painful,and sore all the time. If I got it wet or made the mistake of getting soap on it, it was agonizing! And of course, I type for a living... good times. I don't want to live with this any longer than I have to. I called Dr. Bunas's office Tuesday morning. Their first new-patient appointment was Wednesday at 9:45 and I snapped it up. They were running about 30 minutes late but they were apologetic about it, so no bad attitude from me... it can happen if someone has a more complicated case than expected. Importantly, he didn't rush me. He was friendly, examined my hands thoroughly and gently, checked both my feet to make sure it wasn't there as well (as it apparently commonly is with this problem) and said it was a weird kind of eczema (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyshidrosis) -- it's hideous. He put me on an oral steroid and a topical steroid. He was really clear about how to apply it and gave me good information about what to expect -- he's right, the really strong steroid cream does burn. But it's also working; my fingers are already visibly better and they don't hurt as much. I have a follow-up next Wednesday and I'm hopeful that I will be completely cured by then. I'll probably schedule a skin baseline check to get my moles checked out and stuff; being nearly middle-aged, it's probably a good idea. I'm pleased and so far, would recommend Dr. Bunas. He clearly cares about what's he's doing and is interested in your health... he was thorough in his history gathering and hit exactly the right notes with the information he gave me. He also has the neatest handwriting of any doctor I've ever dealt with. For some reason. I really liked that. :-) read more

Woohoo! Great place to go see a dermatologist! I had a small patch of eczema on the left side of my neck for 2 years. I asked my doctor for relief and she gave me a hydrocortizone cream--Very generic brand but it never went away. Then I developed a rash on my neckline and finally decided to actually see someone who could treat my condition. My older sister who happens to work in the medical field referred me to someone named Dr. Bunas because I live in Bellevue. (She lives in Northgate but said she goes to see him because he's great.) I read good reviews on Yelp too~ It's right across Seattle Children's Hospital (conveniently located for me.) Their whole staff was efficient, friendly, and made me feel comfortable. The doctor himself had a mild sense of humor and was gentle. He took time to figure out my condition and explained his procedure/insights when checking my skin. Then, instead of sending me to the store, he gave me a bunch of samples for night and day use! I was thrilled he didn't make me go and buy more stuff so I was like YAY! At the end, he recommended me to go see him again in a couple weeks. Luckily, my condition cleared up just after a week or so. I let them know and they didn't pressure me at all to come in, which I really appreciate. Thank you so much! read more

Dr. Bunas is ok. The office always seemed a bit messy and out of sorts. I hated that the billing was handled totally separately- different people/office. Dr. Bunas is a bit old school. He was fairly patient with me and my issue. It turned out to be an easy fix. I went for several visits and there were a few times I was convinced he was just sucking me (and my insurance) dry. Wanting to see me weekly and ongoing business... I would trust him with a more serious issue and thankfully mine wasn't that serious. The nurses/ aids were helpful. Lots of samples and easy with prescriptions. Good location, easy access- parking a bit tough but quick to access. read more

WORST AND MOST UNPROFESSIONAL doctor and all around staff around. It's really quite sad because I've came here twice before. I have never had such a profoundly negative medical experience that involved the staff. While I'm checking the the front lady asks me to provide a copy of my medical insurance which I couldn't obtain immediately so I told her that. It's strange because I've never before had to confirm my insurance, this was the only time they've ever asked to. She proceeds to become increasing demeaning and hostile over a simple insurance card that I told her I was working on getting a hold of. This whole encounter only lasted around 3-4 minutes because that's how impatient the staff are, like seriously do you have to demean and speak to me in a rude tone just for not having the insurance on hand? I proceed to ask to her why she is being so impatient and ignorant to the fact that Im actively trying to obtain my insurance copy but just needed a little bit of time as it is highly unprofessional. That's where Dr. Stanley comes in telling don't call my staff ignorant" like I said something super rude but in reality It wasn't, I wasn't yelling or cussing at all and I was speaking very calmly. You can guess what happens next, he kicks me out immediately without asking me anything or saying anything else. What's strange was that there was only one person at the desk I could see, Dr. Stanley came out of nowhere, so I'm assuming he was also eavesdropping on my conversation which is extremely weird. This place was empty when I came so imagine if I came during a busy time, the front desk lady probably would've had a mental breakdown. Wouldn't recommend this place to anybody because nobody deserves this kind of treatment especially because of how expensive it is. You can find much better for cheaper guaranteed. read more

Re-reviewing as Yelp deleted the last review after saying it wasn't sufficiently descriptive. Odd how Ive gotten that from Yelp a few times now, but ONLY for negative reviews... Back to this review. My primary complaint is that the doctor is booked out 3 or more months for existing patients. My son needed to be seen urgently due to pain caused by cystic acne but there was simply no way to get him in for treatment in time. Ultimately, permanent scarring was the result of difficult to obtain treatment and slow clinics, but we did find a dermatologist who could see my son in weeks, not months. read more

Dr. Bunas is an excellent doctor, takes a detailed history and really analyzes your problem or concern from many angles. I suddenly began suffering from eczema several years ago, exacerbated by a secondary infection. Dr. Bunas quickly diagnosed the infection and gave me medication to clear that up. In follow-up visits we worked out the triggers and the causes of my flare-ups. In the end, I got a great perscription and a plan on how to prevent further issues. I really liked that he didn't just give me a perscription and call it quits. Because he went over simple tips, like adding a calcium supplement and taking cooler showers, I have been able to avoid using my prescription more than once or twice a year. Why only 4 star? I guess if I was rating this purely on my medical experience, it would be 5 stars all the way, but I am also factoring in the facilities and the overall experience. The office is up two flights of stairs, which are not enclosed, so no fun on a rainy day! Also, it is a medical dermatology office, not one of those medi-spa hybrids that you can find other places. I actually like that, because then I felt like Dr. Bunas was there to take care of my medical necessities and not pushing extras like fillers or Botox. I went to Dr Bunas a couple of months ago to have some skin tag remove. He indicated that the insurance should pay of it since it was under my arms are around my eyes. I just received by bill and found that the insurance did not pay for any of it because it was coded as acne. After talking with them and found there is nothing they can do. I think that that the doctor as falsified his record so the insurance does not have to include there discount and I'm now stuck with the bill. I know that I'll never step in this office again, and I think people should with this doctor that they should be careful on what he puts in his records. I'm also seeking an a lawyer to see what can be do of this doctor. read more

I was charged almost five hundred dollars for an office visit and a 10-second zap that typically costs $50-$75 by other dermatologist I've seen. When I asked Diane and the billing department for a simple discount the answer was no. In fact both parties simply tried to justify "the billing code" as being totally legit. Let's see, 10-minutes in the office (mostly just waiting) at $500.00 = THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS AN HOUR!! What a shame that after having me call their office repeatedly (over 6 times) to "seek some sort of discount" nobody even gave a sh---. Ironically Dr. Bunas is probably totally unaware of this situation and is at the mercy of his staff for stuff like this. read more

I was hospitalized in October 2007 for a week for a weird foot infection. My foot was so swollen I couldn't fit it in my shoe and it was very painful to walk. I saw 5 different doctors. They hypothesized that something had caused a secondary bacterial infection. They treated that successfully with antibiotics, but the primary infection lingered on. Nasty blisters covered my foot. They oozed and itched. It often hurt to walk. I stopped going to the gym, dancing, and other activities I loved. I got fatter and fatter due to the lack of exercise. I started getting depressed and drinking more which just made me fatter. I'd taken so much time off work that I started using up my vacation time to visit doctors trying to fix it. They couldn't figure out what was wrong with me and treated me for multiple different conditions. It got to the point where I couldn't take any more time off work and my foot was still terribly infected and painful. So I looked up the closest doctor to my office that I could possibly visit on my lunch break. I wasn't expecting much. My medical bills at this point were over $25,000 (~$7,000 of which was not covered by insurance.) I walked into the office and he said "Oh god! That's a horrible looking fungal infection." I said "That's what I thought it might be too. But the multiple other doctors I've seen have tested me multiple times and taken cultures and told me that it wasn't a fungal infection." Apparently I have an allergy to fungi which exacerbated the problem and also caused a strange rash on my hands called an id reaction. He was flabbergasted that I'd spent so much money and time on a relatively common ailment that was repeatedly misdiagnosed. I'm very frustrated that I wasted so much money, time, and vacation time on this... but simultaneously very grateful to have a doctor where I was in and out of the office in less than 1/2 hour with a correct diagnosis which resulted in a quick recovery. He's friendly, efficient, and I'm very happy to be able to enjoy life like a 'normal' person again. read more

I went to Dr. Bunas for the first time last month, because I needed someone to reassure me about some changes in a mole and because I was considering treatment for a problem with my facial skin. He seemed very professional and listened well to my descriptions of my concerns. My experience, while nothing was resolved, was positive. At my follow-up today, though - wow! Apparently his assistant was having an awful day. I took too long to answer a question I was confused by, made the mistake of checking the time on my phone while talking to her (I was nervous about being late for work and wanted to make sure I was out by 8:45), and she blew up at me. OK, she didn't raise her voice *that* much, but she didn't need to - it's a very small lobby and the other patients who were waiting by that time could hear everything she accused me of. When I asked her what I'd said or done to deserve this attitude from her (the word I used was "defensiveness"), she allowed that I hadn't actually done or said anything "yet", but that she had "gotten a vibe" from me that she didn't like. No, really, that was the phrase she used - she had "gotten a vibe." Yes, I hadn't actually complained about the situation, but she was sure I was going to. She expounded on that a bit and wrapped it up by saying, "Now you're giving off a vibe of frustration." No kidding! You think patients might be frustrated after you bite their heads off and then excuse it by repeatedly blaming their bad "vibes"? The funny thing is, even though they had kept me waiting for over half an hour (instead of the "few minutes" she told me on sign-in), I hadn't said anything about the wait up to that point because I had arrived late. My appointment was for 8:00, and it was 8:07 by the time I finished checking in and handling the copay. I was just worried about getting to work and figuring out how to schedule the replacement appointment. But after having her chew me out I was suddenly feeling a lot less charitable... She said she would have Dr. Bunas call me, but eventually it was the other assistant who called me, much later in the day, to tell me Dr. Bunas wouldn't call and I would have to make another appointment. Thankfully I have an appointment with another dermatologist, who can hopefully tell me whether to continue or stop the prescription from Dr. Bunas. read more

Several months later, they kept sending me bills for the same service I paid in full. In the past Dr. Bunas has seen both my BF and I just to keep an eye honour freckles and moles because we are both blondes with very fair skin. But recently he was tasked with figuring out skin irritants on both of us at the same time (totally unrelated). He is a great doctor with great bedside manner and fixed us up lickety split. I think he's so great because he went to medical school at UNC-CH in NC of course where I'm from. Kindred spirits you know. Also my undergrad Alma matter. Anyway., whatever your dermatological need Dr Bunas can handle it quickly and with a smile convieniently in Bellevue. read more

Not sure why all the negative reviews? We had a very good experience. Took my teenaged son in. Was treated well, and the doctor took the time to explain everything slowly. One thing I REALLY liked was the fact he asked me, the parent, about all the treatment options. My last experience with a dermatologist was bizarre; how so, I was asked to leave the examination room because I kept asking questions! I was told I was not the patient!! Nice office, very friendly stuff. Doctor Bunas was very attentive, did very thorough investigation of my problem, took sample, prescribed medication, answered all my questions. I've asked him a few questions I had, got good answers. Especially liked his reaction to some questions about non-traditional remedies proposed on internet. While dismissing them wholesale, as any professional doctor should, he kinda recommended, very subtly, one of them over the others. That was a good info to take home. I scheduled appointment over internet, the first-time appointments are 1-2 days wait only, very convenient! I am from the Midwest and it seems like if you need any kind of specialist appointment, you have to wait months to be seen, especially for a non urgent appointment with a dermatologist. I was shocked when I was offered a same day appointment. Dr Bunas' office was easy to find and the parking was easy and free. My appointment started within 10 minutes of my appointment time. Reception and nursing staff were friendly and professional. Dr Bunas was very friendly and personable. He gave solid advice and made me feel confident about his treatment plan. I've been seeing this Dr. for couple of years now. Recently since they sign up with new online booking system, I noticed that no one in his office answers the phone. I understand it for scheduling, but his nurse also don't answer any phone even if you leave a message on their Nurse line no one will ever call you back! I was waiting for my referral to be sent the same day as my visit, kept calling the referred Dr. to see if I can schedule with him, they said no referral received yet! Dr. Bunas told me that he will text me a copy of my referral to me once he sent it but after 2 weeks he still didn't send it! And now he is going to charge me for a my referral that he never sent. read more

Dr. Bunas was friendly, patient, and explained things clearly. In reading the other reviews I see people complain about being given pamphlets and recommendations on where to find more information about their condition. I thought this was helpful when he did this for me. It gave me time to assess what I had and figure out what I wanted to do about it. Scheduling was quick. The office staff was friendly and helpful. I had to take my infant with me to two visits and all three of my kids to my last visit. Dr. Bunas and his staff were very understanding. They didn't make me feel out of place or rushed. He did a great job on my procedure. Since I had met my deductible for the year I didn't have to deal with any billing issues. Some commenters complained about Dr. Bunas spending little time with them and not remembering them. I experienced this as well. But I didn't take it personally. Dr. Bunas sees a lot of patients every day so I don't expect him to be able to spend hours of time with each client (otherwise he would be booked out farther) and I don't expect him to be able to remember all of his clients. In the end, as long as the job gets done properly, what do I care if the doctor was with me 10 minutes or 2 hours, or remembers my name and what kind of car I drive? I had great experiences with Dr. Bunas and I definitely recommend him. read more

so i've been back twice now and don't know that I like him so much anymore. he was really resistant to doing a skin allergy test even though his assistant told me 3 weeks ago he would do it at my next visit. he finally agreed and then i went back 2 days later for the results. while i was there he was looking at my back and asked me if i ever had a reaction to tattoo ink and i said yes, i do have a reaction and began describing what that reaction is. halfway through he started talking to his assistant. um...ok. so you don't really care, you were just making conversation? weird. at any rate, he's fine, i guess. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Bunas for a few years now. Since the very first tiem I have seen him I have always thought that he is the best physician I new. He always have time to talk to you and explain the condition and discuss your options. He really cares and it shows. Your questions are answered and your worries addressed. Okay it's dermatology - nobody is right 100% of the time. But Dr. Bunas will make absolutely sure the cure is found. He will thoroughly investigate every possible solution. And he is one of a very few doctors I have met who will actually work hard to prevent a future problem. After I was his first patient in my family I have recommended him to numerous family members and friends. Everybody loved Dr. Bunas. Sloppy work. Exam was seconds, treatment was seconds, then talked about extraneous stuff for 5 minutes. Then bill was way too high for one minute of diagnosis and treatment. Very upset with actions of Dr Bunas. Made an appt for my daughter n granddaughter for skin issues n hair loss. Dr Bunas would not take a skin scraping as just assumed that my daughter skin issue n hair loss r do to using drugs n had zero concern about my granddaughter. Said she appears to be very stressed...ya because of concerned health issues n not one doctor including u Dr Bunas cares or takes her serious. We just need to know if there r any infections fungal or bacterial n if not fine we can at least go another direction n see counceling and maybe it is stress related n she's aggravating by picking it. How can we without proper tests! Dr Bunas had no problem taking my 225.00 for those 2 appts booked back to back n basically told her she was out of time n he had other patients. Didn't know appts where timed at a dermatologist office! Assuming one is just plain crazy or a druggie makes you a fool Dr Bunas. But suggested she make a follow-up appointment with him...why u didn't even take skin samples. Your actions of concern n compassion r a joke. I feel totally ripped off n I'm sure I was. The charges are very steep and the office runs first and foremost like a money-making pipeline. Not that it's uncommon among doctor's practice these days, but the good doctors at least add some human aspect to it. Not here though. A 15-min visit with a basic procedure ran me close to $300; minutes I stepped out of the office I realized the doctor have missed something during the procedure (his mistake BTW!). Asked to talk to him, and the response was basically "doctor is busy, you'll need to schedule another appointment". Are you kidding me? Really I just needed 3 min of his time at most, to let him fix his own mistake. I expected better attitude towards the patients at doctor's office, will not be back here again. read more

He was very organized, he asked how many issues I wanted to talk about to day up front. He took a good history. He did a thorough examination. He explained what he saw and what the thought might be the causes. He wrote down that information for me so I didn't have to remember it or take notes. He told me what to look up on the internet so I could get more information. He also has a silly sense of humor which I find endearing. i went to see Dr Stanley when i was suffering from itchyness on my scalp. he recommended me topical creams, which didn't seem to work efficiently at all. Infact they ended up causing more damage. Following that, I developed allergy reactions all over body, where I ended up having flares. Silly me, I went to him again to seek help. He prescribed me the same topical medication for my condition. I wasted 2 weeks of my precious time, applying those medications and staying indoors. They had absolutely ZERO effect on my condition. I couldn't take it anymore. I picked up the phone and booked an appointment with UW Factoria Clinic and saw NP Heidi. She prescribed me allergy medications, and my symptoms went away within 3 days of taking them. Dr Stanley diagnosis sucked and he barely spent time listening to my problem. He is always on a clock and arrives 10 minutes later to your scheduled appointment. NP Heidi from UW on the other hand spend more than an hour with me, listening to my problem and actually diagnosing my condition correctly and prescribing the right medication. If you want to get good medical attention, Please refrain from going to this man. He does nothing but damage !!! read more
