I saw a…read morecouple of other psychiatrists before I found Dr. Madkaiker and when I saw him for my first visit, I knew he was the doctor for me. Like most psychiatrists, appointments are not very long. They are not therapists; they are there to manage your medications. Dr. Madkaiker has been very good to me. When I first started seeing him, I had been on the same medications for many years and they had been working great. He listened to me and actually believed me and that I knew about my body and he kept me on the same meds. Many other new doctors want to start changing meds around. I'm of the mindset of "if it's not broke, don't fix it." When I had cancer and had to have a kidney removed, I had no choice but to finally get off one medication that was helping me the most because it would have interfered with my kidney function and I only have the one left. He took me down off that medication and then introduced a new medication. The new medication he chose doesn't work quite as well as the other one (but we knew it wouldn't), but it does work pretty darn well. He always listens at each visit and he makes suggestions and allows me to choose my treatment with him. It really makes me feel like I have a say in what is happening with my mind and body. Telehealth appointments! Yes! I'm all about those! His front office staff is phenomenal! Tommy works the front office and I absolutely love him! He's usually the one who calls me and I'm always thrilled when he answers the phone! I like the other people in the front office too, but I just feel Tommy has made a point to get to know me and I enjoy talking with him. I love the fact that after Telehealth appointments, they always call me within half an hour or so to make my next appointment. Major points for that because I would totally forget! If you are in need of a psychiatrist, I highly recommend Dr. Madkaiker. I've been seeing shrinks since 1987 and he is one of the best I have ever seen!! Wheelchair and service dog friendly!

He is always there for me when I have an issue or going through a bad time in life. He listens and offers advice and is always ensuring my medications are working and making any adjustments we both are agreeable to. His staff, especially Brooke have been so helpful in assisting me with setting up my follow up appointments and ensuring my other physicians are receiving coordination of care forms faxed over when I need them. She has been a blessing, always replies same day and is kind, compassionate and will make sure i don't have to worry about having to change my appointment time with my busy work schedule. I visited in November 2024, and the poor communication and abject bedside manner by the doctor is irrelevant compared to the ensuing billing process. I received no bill in the mail, no phone call, email, or update on the MyChart app. After 13 months I received an email from a debt collector, including daily phone calls even on Christmas Eve. I had spoken to 4 people in the office multiple times, all of whom said I had a 0 balance. Despite this, repeated calls from the debt collector ensued. I have no late payments to any institution in almost 5 decades of life. But despite my best efforts to uncover a possible bill, only NMET had any record. All this for $99. The few workers that attempted to help me explained THEY were responsible for a poor and inefficient billing system. Sadly, UF's inability to manage their own system may become your problem. Beware and avoid patient care as they have demonstrated a lack of trust.
