Originally I didn't want anyone to know about this store so my wife and I and a handful of people could pretty much have it all to ourselves. But at this time, when people are on lockdown again and staying home more, baking hobbyists and baking businesses need to support this place more than ever. My wife and I drive all the way from Vista to come down here and trust me, it's worth it. Why wait for Amazon when you have it here right now when you need it? I took photos of all the things that would normally catch our eyes when we walk in. Caroliina and Sheryl were very polite and friendly as always. I want to support this place because they make sure bakers have all they need to keep doing what they love. Thank you staff at Standlees! We'll definitely see you all again soon!

I have had this place booked marked for a while and while down here for a dentist appointment so I finally made it down here. I'm glad I did because this place was a bakers dream store. The store is big, had lots of cupcake toppers and a ton of cookie cutters. The owner is what really stuck out to me. She was so kind an went way above to provide amazing service. I wanted anatomy chocolate molds ( like kidneys and hearts ) an she special ordered them for me. ( I'm in nursing school an I kinda thought this would be a great present for my teacher) Definitely would recommend coming here if you love baking, it literally is still on my mind hours later.

I've recently gotten into baking a lot so wanted to find a good store with a lot of decorations and other necessities that I needed. It's a cute 2 room store. They have a good variety of different things for baking. The owner was nice and very helpful. She even gave me a sample so I could try the buttercream icing! They have the icing in white, red and black. They have a vendor in there throughout the week that can specially make different cookie cutters and other items that the store may not have. Some items can be a little pricey. The only discount I know of is the one on Yelp for checking in. They honor it even though it's expired. They have a 75% off clearance table, but it's kind of picked over and random stuff.

What I was making when I made the visit it was not quite finished in this pic

Little bit pricey and I feel like I'm being watched as I shop not quite sure if it's customer service or being micromanaged as I am trying to shop either way it goes if I need help I'll ask for it, it definitely makes me want to just shop Amazon or wish if I have enough time as I said it's pretty pricey stuff there I can get for a lot cheaper but I go there when I'm in a bind and I have to have something right away but as I said again I feel micromanaged when I'm there Kennett as if I'm being followed they offer right away to go put the stuff up that's in your hands at the register and I get the customer service but at the same time it makes me feel like you think I'm going to steal and I don't like that so if I have an opportunity To shop elsewhere I will just because of that.

VENUE-5 stars I am in awe when I walk into this place. They have quite a bit of cake supplies to meet your baking needs. They also have all the colors of the rainbow of chocolate for the candy molds and so many choices of different molds. SERVICE- 5 stars I thought the ladies that work here are so extremely helpful and patient. Really makes me want to better my skills as a cake maker.

Came in yesterday looking for hard candy molds. While they do not have a huge selection it was good enough to buy some at about $3 each. They have a lot of the LorAnn oil flavorings also fairly priced. Great place for weddings. If you bake or you make candy this is the place for you. They also have a guy who can make 3D molds for you within 4 business days. The employees were helpful.

Needed a large amount of pink sprinkles and they had it!

This place had exactly what I needed, more and more bakery supply stores are closing but I'm glad this one is still around!

I stopped here this week for the first time and loved it! I'm far from a professional baker, in fact I'm pretty crappy at decorating cakes. But I've stepped up my Youtube cake baking/decorating video viewing so that I can finally churn out some decent looking sweets once I'm equipped with the proper tools. I'm too lazy to make one, but if I had a "30 before I'm 30" list, baking something professional looking would be on it. Could you just hit the internet for baking supplies? Sure, but then you'd be missing an opportunity to support a local business. The local baking/cookingware shops are drying up around San Diego and I refuse to let them all die. Chef City is my fave place to go for cooking supplies and drooling over commercial restaurant cooking machines, but I need a bakery store. Google presented me with Standlee's. I've read a few reviews saying the reviewer had been ignored or had a poor customer service experience but I had a great visit. There were two women working in this cute shop. The owner herself even walked over because the cashier was busy with another customer at the moment. They both made me feel welcome and like I could ask questions if I had any. There are signs posted to keep your kids from grabbing/breaking the merch which is totally understandable. Maybe leave your kids at home with a responsible adult if they're particularly grabby and destructive. They have a great selection of gel paste colors, liquid dyes, flavor extracts, sprinkles, pearls, sprays, cookie cutters, candy molds, cupcake liners, decorating tools, and all kinds of cake boards. There's a lot of stuff packed in this little shop. From what I've read online the store has actually been expanded so if you haven't been here in 10 years, it's twice as big now! If you need something to decorate with or bake in- they've probably got it. The prices were totally reasonable and some things were even cheaper than Amazon. for 13 bucks I walked away with 5 gel paste colors in the exact shades I wanted and a frosting smoother. By shopping here I saved over 10 bucks vs. Amazon prices. Buy local and support this lovely shop. Keep your eyes on their social media pages for their upcoming classes/events. I look forward to trying a few classes in the future and they vary in skill level/cost. Some are kid-oriented and look like your kids will have a blast. Bring some change for the parking meters and be prepared to get a huge itch to bake something pretty!

They make custom cookie cutter! Made within 72 hours. Quoted $18.99

I am a former student of PMI in the Clinical Medical Assistant Program which I completed as a CCMA…read morein 2013; and then went on to get my Associate's Health Care Administration Degree online in 2014. I'm really glad PIMA offered Online training since I was immediately hired out of my Externship in Urgent Care (which was my Goal) as a Clinical MA where I learned even MORE in a fast-paced environment not unlike the pace of PIMA, but I could still get my Online coursework done while I was working full-time. Since then? I've gone on to MANY more positions of exciting responsibility in Healthcare; like Scribing for Multiple Urgent Care Providers (which I really LOVED,) and Lead Positions in the Back Office, and Establishing an MA Call-Center for 10 Urgent Care Clinics in SoCal, and being in charge of all the Xrays/Labs for the same 10 Urgent Care Clinics and actually training brand-new Providers in EHR ... I LOVE anything and Everything to do with Urgent Care (I'm an adrenaline junkie I guess.) And? All with no small thanks to the outstanding foundation I received right from the very beginning in Career Prep in Chula Vista (Time Management Skills were/are priceless) and thanks to my own hard work, as well. I've learned from both Life and PIMA that you have to set goals, and then focus and finish whatever it is you set out to do. For me? That has included asking questions, and challenging the answers every once in a while because that's what you DO in school, and sometimes on the Job too; especially when lives are at stake. But those questions should always be asked with the understanding that you are there to either LEARN (in school) or SERVE (on the Job) and sometimes you are learning on the JOB, too! However, Valid Questions should never be turned into Invalid Challenges simply to make excuses to "just get by" or complain about "How HARD it is/was." And we certainly shouldn't be complaining if we didn't do the due-diligence to know what we were getting into, or follow-up on things that didn't make sense. Those would be the Times When We Are SUPPOSED to Ask Questions. Calling teachers "names" or referring to them with disparaging remarks doesn't help anything either without knowing WHY someone felt that way, but I suppose it helps validate why we go to school; to Learn, to GROW UP. If any of those words resonate for you? Well, then Lesson learned. Plenty of us have made the same mistakes in our lives. That just means you dust yourself off, pick yourself up, and start over again down a different Path, armed with more experience/wisdom and hopefully more closely aligned with Success the next time around. So, surround yourself with EXCELLENCE!! CHOOSE who you want to be Associated with and are proud to BE with, or Learn from, or who you want to call a Friend or Teacher or even Family the next time around. This is YOUR Choice. YOU get to Choose. And so, having said all that? PIMA has been called "Preferred, Trusted and Respected" for YEARS and for good reason. YES, PIMA is demanding! YES, they have high standards! And YES, Employers want to hire PIMA Graduates because the training is so excellent, the Grads are reliable, and the graduates actually know what the heck they're doing straight out of school. And, YES YOU HAVE TO WORK HARD. Just like LIFE. You have to set your Goals and focus on them. Nothing is handed to you at PIMA or anywhere else in life. If you can't cut the higher standards, then look elsewhere for your Education & where you might be more comfortable; but I promise you, once you pass the entrance exam (really, you can DO it!) Chula Vista PIMA Staff will do everything in their Power to help you succeed, short of handing it to you on a silver platter. I prefer to EARN my way, and if you've read this far? You probably do too. I'm so grateful that there is an Institution like PIMA where we have the choice and opportunity to finish a program quickly instead of dragging on for years; where the curriculum is fast-tracked for those who are Willing to put in the hard work to succeed and yes, pay the extra money it takes to invest in a more rapid return, while also demanding EXCELLENCE every step of the way. That means not complaining when you have to memorize things quickly, and then get ready to build on that and learn even more things even MORE quickly the next week. And you might even think about helping your fellow students; like form a study group and learn together even FASTER. Imagine that. If you have what it takes to be among the Best of the Best? Look no further. The Teachers and the Courses at PIMA are GREAT. I understand there can/will be bumps in the road along the way, even at PIMA. Demand EXCELLENCE, Always!! Expect it from yourself, DEMAND it from YOUR school. If you want or need help to get you through it? There are plenty of Staff and Alumni who would be happy to Mentor/Help you. I am one of them. Char(lene) charlenean@gmail.com

I am deeply concerned about my experience applying to the radiography program at Pima Medical…read moreInstitute in Chula Vista. I completed the admissions testing process and scored 100% on one exam and high 90s on the others. Despite these results, I was told I would be placed on a "waiting list for the waiting list," without a clear explanation of how candidates are ranked, prioritized, or selected for advancement. I was also informed that I would receive follow-up communication regarding my status. That follow-up never occurred. Months later, I had to initiate contact myself, only to be told to "check back." This raises additional concerns about what criteria or procedures are being followed for applicant communication and follow-up. Is there a formal policy outlining when and how applicants are contacted? Are all candidates receiving consistent communication, or is follow-up handled selectively? The lack of transparency in both the admissions ranking process and follow-up procedures is troubling. Applicants deserve clear, written criteria explaining how acceptance decisions are made, how waiting lists are structured, what metrics determine advancement, and what communication standards are being followed. Given the demographics of the surrounding community and student population, I would also appreciate transparency regarding diversity and admissions data. How many Hispanic applicants are accepted compared to non-Hispanic applicants within this program? What objective standards ensure equitable evaluation for all candidates? Without clear answers to these questions, it is difficult not to question whether the admissions process is being conducted with full fairness, consistency, and accountability. I hope the institution will provide greater clarity and transparency so that all applicants, regardless of background, are confident they are being treated equally and professionally.

Cheap price, but you get what you pay for - ruined my hair and wasted my time…read more I normally pay $50 for a haircut from my regular barber, but with prices going up I thought I'd try this barber college since it's only $15 and the reviews mentioned supervisors always being present. Unfortunately, my experience was a total miss. First, the atmosphere is extremely loud - blasting hip-hop the entire time, which made it hard to communicate. The place is clean and the building looks nice from the outside, but it felt chaotic. Students and people hanging around were in oversized baggy clothes, and almost none of the students had sharp, well-groomed hair themselves (only one guy had a decent self-fade). That alone made me nervous. I got assigned to a student with 250 hours who genuinely seemed clueless about basic barbering terms. I asked for a classic taper with mid-length sideburns ("halfway down the ear"). He asked me about sideburns, I repeated "midpoint," and he immediately shaved them completely off and gave me fenders. Couldn't follow simple verbal instructions at all. He also didn't know what split ends were when I pointed them out. Multiple times he had to go find the supervisor, who was nowhere on the floor. We waited 5-10 minutes each time before the instructor finally appeared. The students seem to only know one style: high or mid fade finished with a hard razor lineup. If you want anything more traditional or natural (taper, no lineup, softer look), you're out of luck. I get that it's a school and the price is low, but there needs to be real supervision and students need to learn how to actually listen to clients and execute something other than the same "hood fade" on every head. I left looking worse than when I walked in and I'm still mad about the destroyed sideburns. Maybe some people only want that one specific urban fade and are fine with the vibe, but if you're looking for a clean, classic, or customizable haircut in a calm environment, spend the extra money and go to a real barber. I wanted to support a school, but I won't be back.

Originally, we looked into a CNA program at a location nearby...they had too many applicants. The program was well structured, the instructors were incredibly knowledgeable and supportive and the learning environment was professional and encouraging. He had a thorough clinical rotation at a skilled nursing facility/rehab nearby. My son learned so much during the course and more importantly he PASSED his CNA exam on the first try (btw, he really studied hard and practiced blood pressures, checking respirations and heart rate on each of our family members.) One of the best parts is that all the credits are transferable. He's on track to apply to further his education and pursue a career in nursing. I highly recommend Healthcare Science Academy.
