We left feeling so many emotions, but renewed, grateful and inspired were the strongest. Check in was simple. I was sent an extremely well laid out itinerary for checking in, what to expect during our stay, procedures, directions. They thought of everything. I didn't need to ask a single question. We stayed in the Pine cabin. I was booking 2 weeks in advance, so I had to take what was open and change my dates to stay during the week. Initially I had my sights set on the cabin with a screened in porch, but this sweet cabin was perfect for just the 2 of us. I can't say enough good things about our stay. The view from our little front porch, paired with the symphony of frogs, cicadas, and other wildlife was intoxicating. It was my favorite spot to eat breakfast, have my morning coffee, and then tea after lunch and dinner. It was still cool enough at night to open the windows and enjoy being sung to sleep by nature. Our private, large hot tub filled with mineral water from the hot springs was heaven on earth. It really did ease our achey joints and my skin seemed to love it. There's just enough of an opening in the trees above, in this secluded little haven, to be able to see the stars at night. I thoroughly enjoyed floating on my back, gazing at the stars at night. Then again in the morning, while the light, cool rain washed over the top of me. Everything about our stay was sensory heaven for me. The cabin was well stocked with what we may need. Very clean and cozy. By bringing our own bed linens and towels we saved $35 off of our cleaning fee. Cell service in the community is really spotty, so I was relieved to have wifi access in the cabin. For some reason, we figured out that we got the best connection on the couch by the patio doors. While we wanted to unplug for the week, we still needed to be able to check on our feral roommates that we call grandchildren. I hope my review inspires others to travel to Hot Springs. This community is still recovering from Hurricane Helene and could use our support. Everywhere we went, we were met with such friendliness and warmth. We heard several stories of resilience and of a community coming together for the greater good. They deserve more help than what they've received so far.

You cannot drive up to LeConte Lodge because there are no roads. It's on top of one of the highest mountains east of the Rockies. The highest mountain east of the Rockies is Mount Mitchell (in west NC), which is 6,683 feet above sea level. Mount LeConte (in east TN) is 6,594 feet above sea level. Meals and bed linens are transported up the mountain by the lodge employees on the backs of llamas in rain-proof bags (the only place I've seen llamas outside of the Andes is on Mount LeConte). There's no electricity at LeConte Lodge, so you go to bed when it's dark, however they do have lanterns and propane heaters. Bring your own towel.

It was my friend's first trip to the U.S. Sadly it was this hotel's irresponsibility, ignorance, and the terrible sanitary conditions that constituted his first impression. Very disappointed.

Pull down blinds would have been fine had they not been giant murals of Clingman's Dome and other Smokies sights. The wood slatting of the cabin is nice but please get someone in there to redo this room...good grief!! The hand drawn exit map was ...smh! Covered Porch out back was the highlight and the running stream was beautiful. The roosters crowing at 5:30 am wasn't a great addition. As you turn into the property there is a house that someone is obviously living in that looks like a junk yard...I'm being kind. Maybe it's the owner?!?! A bulldozer would improve this place. If you like extremely junky and rustic...this is your place. It is not an easy walk into downtown Gatlinburg either...and all uphill on your way back. When securing the hot springs resort and spa, my "friend" wanted to book it late at night around 9 pm. I wasn't too fond of that idea since I wanted to view the scenery. Anyway, he changed the reservation time by phone. We went with the basic package for 60 minutes. Once we arrived, the parking lot was spacious. We went to check in and purchased some souvenirs that were a bit on the pricey side. An older gentleman who was nice walked us to our hot springs which was just a secluded hot tub near a free-flowing body of water. The hot tub temperatures were warm and not skin-burning hot, but it was perfect since it eased my tense and painful muscles that I had been temporarily suffering since the beginning of the week. I can't say if the water was real mineral water or not. I just wasn't expecting the hot springs to be a hot tub with jets. My expectations were much higher, as I had imagined like the ones in Colorado. I was hoping to nestle my body against some geological formations as I was engulfed in peace and relaxation.

Sitting at 5,400 feet, expect temps 10-15 degrees cooler than Maggie Valley. An elk walked through our camp site while we cooked dinner. Bathrooms are rustic but clean and the shower is hot.
