The two gentlemen were very personable, obviously knowledgeable of their craft, and considerate; from protecting the carpeting, to the arrangement of the gas logs for proper air flow and aesthetics. They even gave us a recommendation for a good place to look into replacing our gas-piped grill. I especially want to brag on their kindness. We have a dog, and I know service men either love or hate dogs investigating them and barking, but they were so patient. Second, my dog is an epileptic rescue, who had a bad experience with a groomer that has left him terrified of the iPhone notification bell, to the point that we keep our phones on vibrate. During the service call, one of their phones went off, and they immediately noticed the panicked reaction from the dog. Once I explained the situation, both immediately set their phones to vibrate. I know it's a dog, and I know they were there to provide a service (which they did with thorough professionalism), but their kindness and compassion throughout the appointment was much appreciated. We will definitely be keeping them for services for our gas fireplace. I cannot recomme

Well two years ago, I gave Archie's a 5-star review, but not today…read more In the second week of November, I made an appointment for a technician to come to our house to service and turn on our Heatilator. They couldn't squeeze me in until three weeks later on the 4th of December. The technician arrived at my house, a day early, on the 3rd of December. Fortunately I was home. The technician worked on the unit and told me that the valve was faulty and that he would have to order a part. He had no idea how long it usually takes, but he said he would have the office give me a call. After waiting a week for a call from the office, I decided to call to check on my part order. I was placed on terminal hold with the same recorded message repeating every 2 minutes, until finally, after holding for nearly 20 minutes, someone answered the phone, but the person who answered the phone said they didn't know anything about my parts and transferred me to another phone line with a voice mail box that couldn't accept messages. I had things to do, so decided to call back the following day. I called back the following day, endured the same recording played over and over and over and finally someone answered. He said a part was ordered but had no idea when it would arrive. Finally three weeks later, I called again and endured the same recording .... and so it went. After calling three separate times on that day, someone answered and said the part was in, but they couldn't fit me into the schedule until the 22nd of January. Geez Louise! You'd think they would have set aside a time in sync when they anticipated the part, but no. So finally on January 22nd, some 10 weeks later, the part was installed and service restored. Then came the shock that I was not prepared for. The repair total was $600. I have recommended Archie's before based upon the service in 2022, but not after this fiasco.

Four Seasons Fireplace & Chimney - Knoxville TN wood stove

We have 3 properties in Maryville, TN that I wanted the chimneys cleaned. I scheduled them for the…read moresame day -- was told $249 for cleaning per chimney. They then proceeded to tell me each of the 3 chimneys were unsafe. I asked for estimates for repairs and was told that none of them could be repaired for a wood burning fireplace and that none of them were up to code. Our cabin was built less than 20 years ago but they claimed the chimney was too narrow to be repaired. I was told I needed flu liners and woodburning stoves as my only option -- interestingly, when I looked into it for the cabin, I would have had to special order a stove base with side panels because the chimney and the hearth were too big! They never got back to me with the promised photos or detailed estimates. I was told the 2 regular houses would probably run about $8000 to $10,000 and for the cabin, it would be much more because it was so big. I had had all three cleaned 2 years before by a fellow who retired and at the time, he said they all looked great. We hadn't used 2 of the fireplaces at all in that time and we used the third a total of 3 times yet I was told they were very dirty and it was lucky I'd called to get them cleaned.

Absolutely terrible company to deal with and I'd encourage anyone to steer clear of them. I…read morescheduled an inspection and cleaning for $249 and when the tech (Joe) came out he worked for 30mins (ring cameras at front door and watching both rooms with fireplaces) and then announced that my chimney had loose tiles and he couldn't clean it. He then checked the wood burning stove and said it was outdated and he couldn't clean or inspect it (home is less than 25yrs old). He said a report would be sent to me with pictures explaining the problems and left. The next day I get an invoice for $349 and when I call the office to ask about the difference in quote the office manager (as she identified herself) was rude and condescending telling me that there might have been endangered animals in my chimney and that their insurance doesn't allow them to clean outdated equipment. While trying to explain that I was unhappy paying and not getting a cleaning she cut me off several times mid-sentence and was very rude from beginning to the end of the conversation when I asked to speak to the owner or manager. A few hours later I get a threatening email from Dion Martorella - Ops Mgr who says I "have refused to pay my invoice" and goes thru a whole list of reasons why they are right and I am wrong. I never refused to pay an invoice and just wanted to find out why it was not the agreed upon price and why my chimney was not cleaned while their tech was only at my house for 48mins including being on the phone for a portion of the time. Horrible experience and I can't believe they're in business with multiple other reviews that match my experience.

Fred came out and gave us a very reasonable quote for the work and then returned a few days later to accomplish the work. Fred and his assistant (I didn't catch his name) were on time, very professional and did very thorough work to repair the cracking mortar throughout our stone chimney. Not only did they completely tuckpoint (redo the mortar) the entire chimney, they also sealed the top of the chimney, and water sealed everything to ensure we will have zero problems for a very long time. When the work was complete, their cleanup process was excellent and they left no trace of any debris. I highly recommend Chimney Sweeps West!

However, they ghosted me after running a half-hour past the scheduled appointment time. I called them and the office lady said that the sweep should be there any minute, and if not, then "I will call you back". 1 & 1/2 hours later, still no call. I attempted to call them four times, and my call went straight to voicemail--as if they were no longer in business or did not want to take on any more business or most likely did not want to be straightforward and honest with me that the chimney sweep was not going to do the job. Not a way to run a business! I cannot recommend this company to anyone, ever. UPDATE: After receiving a call from CSW, I wanted to add to my post for increased accuracy. It was reported that the sweep went to another house down the street for servicing the chimney. CSW apologized for the mixup, so it wasn't a complete ghost job. Having since scheduled with another company, I will not be doing business with them this time around. RECOMMENDATIONS: In the future it would be best for this company to conduct follow through to completion of the work. Nothing extravagant or time consuming. For example, the office person could make sure to call the customer for ensuring that everything occurred as expected. The office help could make return calls as promised. The office person could call the customer immediately after the sweep indicates that the customer "decided to postpone the job." If this step was incorporated, the job would have likely occurred as scheduled and all would have been satisfied. The simple things make a big difference. The sweep was very nice and so for that I have changed my rating from one star to three.
