Just after they arrived, Jessica came over with her impressive camera and crawled right into the bush to get a photo of my dog! Out she came with the most beautiful photo I have ever seen. A photo of my dog surrounded by tiny puppies, and the yellow petals of the caraganna bush somehow framing her eye lashes. I think the photo should win an award. Jessica updates her blog often and I think she has quite a following for both her website and her blog. If you are getting married I would recommend her to anyone as the photos I have seen of her wedding work are stunning. She will be photographing my wedding next year! Marcin & Dorota hiked with us to Peyto Lake for the ceremony and then we all drove to Lake Louise for photos and lunch, followed by more photos at Moraine Lake. They were committed to us for the entire day. We even had a sunset helicopter trip planned, but couldn't fly due to a pop-up thunderstorm. They are such wonderful, fun people who have a true passion for photography. They will go out of their way (laying on the ground, crawling into bushes, etc.) to get the perfect shot. I had been part of other weddings where the photographer did not handle big groups well and I felt that Kelly's own ability to manage may have been a good indicator of his experience and expertise. Now, having gone through my own wedding with him as my photographer I was definitely not disappointed. Throughout our entire experience with Kelly we were impressed with his professionalism, attentiveness, but especially his friendliness. I feel like his photo style reflects a bit about what you can expect when you work with Kelly - relaxed and easy-going yet detailed and professional. His pictures are the perfect touch of candidness and in the moment yet beautifully composed. He gave really good instructions for us modelling newbies which was another concern of mine. But luckily, he knew how to explain poses well and how to direct us and the bridal party. Another thing that I loved about Kelly is that he was willing to take into account the bridal party suggestions and the personality of the bride and groom. I was part of a wedding where the photographer militarily stuck to their planned poses and rejected most suggestions from the bridal party. The photos did not capture the heart of the bride and groom or the bridal party. My friends were incredibly disappointed in that experience. So make sure you find a photographer that you jive with! I also highly recommend spending the extra to do a day-after or engagement shoot with him. We loved our day after pictures and he came up with such brilliant ideas for them. You get more time with Kelly in your respective wedding outfits so the poses and shots get to be more creative. It is wicked fun. Of course he is a bit on the medium-high price range for Edmonton wedding photographers. But for my husband and I that was one area we felt it was okay to spend extra on while cutting costs in other less important areas. The wedding day goes by so fast that many of our friends and family said photography is one of the most important parts of your wedding planning as they will be the ones capturing the memories. We now have photos that we love showing off and getting prints of.
