It's a Beefeater pub, so they specialise in grills, therefore it's no surprise that the steak is so good. And if you've read any other of my reviews, you'll know I'm a steak fanatic, so appreciate a well-cooked piece of meat (although I like my steak rare, not well done, just cooked well!)

I've not been here and stood at the bar - I get the impression it's more of a food first, drink later kind of place, but I could be wrong as I'm not a local of this area. I know that quite a few people are fans though - whilst working abroad last year I was talking to a couple from down south who were excited about the prospect of driving their son up to Liverpool for the start of uni in September. They were particularly excited, though, because they could call in at The Stag once they'd got rid of their son. "Not wasting what I've heard is a bloody good bit of meat on the likes of him" I believe was the sentiment. read more
