I took time off from my current position WITHOUT PAY to meet with a Key Acct Mgr (as she…read morerequested); I filled out an application, provided my resume and took tests - all in the hopes of finding a new job. She sent me 3 job options all with wrong hours and days that I had told her I wanted to work. Months go by I don't hear from her so I contact her - she says she's still looking, still NOTHING! More time passes without so much as an e-mail or phone call. Don't waste your time, apparently they go through the motions to collect their own paychecks!

Oy... Where do I begin? Let me say I've never worked with a shadier agency than Aerotek. In the…read morelast two assignments I've completed through them, I was told the positions were "contract to hire" when the hiring managers at both client companies said otherwise. At my last assignment, I kept my options open and continued looking for a permanent direct hire position. My recruiter, Emily appeared to be somehow monitoring my online activity and saw in a "newsfeed" I was applying for jobs while still on my temp assignment. I applied on my time on my own computer in my house, so this is a wanton invasion of my privacy. Emily calls me in the middle of work to berate me for doing so. I explain to her that I'm keeping my options open until I am permanently employed, whether at the client company or otherwise. As long as there was "no guarantee" I was to keep looking. Emily takes this personally and proceeds to berate me about my "negative attitude". So in the world of Aerotek, the desire to survive is a negative attitude, if it doesn't favor Aerotek. Excuse me, Emily, but I've been in my field since you were probably in elementary school, so don't get high and mighty with me. She lectures me on professional attitude, yet she has a spaz attack on the phone. Not my idea of professional behavior. The snooping is what angers me most, and is most likely illegal.

This company is not what it used to be. My experience working with them back in 2006 was very…read moredifferent then the current experience I'm having with them now. In 2006 I worked primarily with the St. Paul location and the staff was helpful, called regularly with assignments, and it was not impossible to get a hold of someone the way it is now! I signed up to work with them again this summer and I swear that they just hound you to get you in to fill out paper work so they can add another field employee to their numbers but if you want to count on them actually getting you work: good luck. I had to drive to Minneapolis, pay for parking, hang around for a recruiter that was running 30 minutes behind, do all the testing, and then during the months following hardly ever speak to anyone. I've literally spoken to two or three recruiters in the last four months. Every time you call in they are always in a meeting - and after I was told to call the St. Paul office (by the receptionist) the St. Paul office receptionist told me they don't have recruiters at that location anymore. I called in a week later and low and behold - suddenly they have recruiters there again! WTH? If you are lucky enough to speak with someone they will proceed to ask the SAME questions over and over again that you already answered in your initial interview - "What kind of work at you looking for? How far are you willing to travel? Pay rate?" What was the point of answering all of this during the screening process if every recruiter you speak to is going to ask you to do it all again? Then they'll just tell you something like, "Well I've got you on my availability list so if anything comes up..." Right. You're better off working with another staffing agency - Office Team has really gone down hill.
