After going back and forth, they said they could meet at 11 am on Saturday. Now, Saturday came, my husband was in the online meeting room, but nobody showed up. He waited for 30 minutes there and ended the online meeting. Now, after he left home, Evelyn called him and said she had forgotten the meeting, with no legitimate reason. And after wasting part of his weekend, she told him that they only offer the full management service and do not help just with finding a tenant. The purview of their service is fine; that is their choice, but this could certainly be communicated via email instead of going through this unprofessional and disrespectful experience. I was surprised to find many great reviews about this company, which was good for them, but I guess our need wasn't lucrative enough for them to care if you can drop a meeting they scheduled without giving a legitimate reason.

The apartment I rented was exceptionally well-maintained, and I lived there the entire 3 1/2 years I was in Ann Arbor. Every time I called Bob, he answered the phone. And anytime I needed a repair or regular maintenance, his warm and friendly staff (the wonderful Al and Tony), arrived within the hour. Whenever I called Bob, he asked how I was doing, and it took me a while to realize he was really asking and really wanted to know. And once, when I was horribly sick with the flu and I had to be on campus until 10 p.m. and I had a flight at 6 a.m. the next morning and my car was snowed in, I called Bob to tell him of my predicament and ask if he knew anyone I could call for help, and he sent over his crew to shovel me out, just out of kindness. I felt cared for and taken care of by the folks at Arbor Properties. I'll miss them, and I give them my highest recommendation.

This is the worst real estate experience I've had after working on deals in several states. The General Manager was only interested in trying to cover up an unethical practice rather than seeking to improve and rectify poor performance. It is stunning that two agents from the same company would not work together, and in fact openly feud with each other and the General Manager would not seek to address the issue. A previous agent from the company had contacted us and indicated that Nancy Bishop had a bad track record of poor dealings with clients, but the general manage wasn't interested in addressing that issue. I would strongly encourage you to seek another real estate firm as you look to buy or sell real estate in Ann Arbor.

Jon mostly handles commercial properties, and is also an associate broker, so we weren't sure if he would take up our cause or pass us along to another agent. We were happy when we heard that he would indeed be our buyer's agent. We knew from the start that we had a good "gut feeling" about Jon -- he seemed to have enough experience in the business to know all the ins, outs, and everyone around town, but he also seemed honest, up-front and on the level, something I haven't always sensed in my interactions with other agents. Throughout the process, we were glad to have Jon representing us and going to bat for us. He was a great listener and plenty personable, but could get tough when the situation called for that approach. And, of course, the situation did at times. We honestly could not have been happier or had a better guide through the process of first-time home ownership. We had previously been with another property management company for ~5 years, and we lost A LOT of money while with them. We are very trusting, but over time we couldn't trust them, as they're accounting was horrible. Hey couldn't understand the simplest of requests. They used antiquated systems, and we would get statements 1-2 months late. It was just horrible. We knew it was time to change, and to be honest we didn't think there would be a huge difference between management companies. We interviewed 5 places. One place has been in the business for a long time, but he was too arrogant, and the others were nice but didn't seem to do anything extremely special. We settled on one, not J Keller at first, and then Jon convinced us to just give his company a shot so we switched last minute. We were impressed by his motivation and professionalism. We can only thank Jon tremendously now for convincing us to go with him because for the first time in years we are in the black. He is honest, organized and uses updated technology for accounting. His team is excellent at communication, and we trust them 100%. We were at API t where we couldn't afford the losses we were taking when with the other management company, but we have now decided to keep the properties since with J Keller they are in excellent shape, and we finally have cash flow. You have to be crazy not to go with J Keller, and I say this after being a landlord for over 10 years and having worked in the Ann Arbor real estate business. You really can't beat a 10 min walk anywhere. The unit itself is better on the inside than the outside. The countertops and cabinets are in good condition. They offer a pretty decent furniture deal but you should buy your own mattress. Plus, free laundry!* Also, the maintenance guy, Ahmad, is a chill dude who will always go the extra mile for you. Negatives: 1. It's old. The building is literally falling apart. A 15lb piece of the ceiling fell and almost hit my neighbor's car. When emailed about it, they just took the piece and did not repair the wall. There's rust everywhere and most of the windows should be replaced. The asphalt where you park your car is literally rubble and jagged rocks. A three person apartment is about 650sq ft, smaller than you think. 2. It's dirty. The laundry room is covered in dirt, hair, trash, and smells like a potluck of sweat and garbage. There's trash from the neighboring frat everywhere and graffiti on the walls. Also, my roommate had bed bugs in his mattress. We had to be fumigated twice... 3. Safe? I've had multiples incidents of homeless people sleeping below our stairs, yelling at me while digging through the trash, and had my car broken into. Also, there's no lights around the building. 4. Management doesn't care. All the complaints about fixing serious safety and maintenance problems were ignored...My roommate's and my car were towed even though mgt said that we were okay without a pass temporarily because they were closed when we tried to get one. When confronted, they blew us off. They just don't care about tenants. They didn't even trim the lawn for five weeks until I complained. 5. Mgt office is far. They are located east of campus deep in the residential neighborhood, a problem without a car. This isn't a huge problem, but it's a residential house and a few times no one was there during OH. 6. Communal water bill. Doesn't matter if you take a 30 minute shower, or don't shower at all, the entire building splits the water bill! This allows for "free laundry." 7. Parking is tight. Backing out of this driveway is difficult. I smashed my side mirror trying to back out. Also, people are forced to weave in between your car and often there are scratches "appearing" now and then. Location is the only reason you choose this property.
