He also made a suggestion to wait until high tide to kayak, as there would be much more water and it would be more enjoyable. He was absolutely right. We had such a fun time paddling through the bay. Being from out of town, Alex gave a quick tutorial on the bay, sailing boundaries and areas to avoid, from leaving the dock, radio check and arrival back, these guys were great. Boat was in perfect shape and we had an amazing time. The staff was really good with the kids. Will be back here for sure. They also have Hobie wave available which is smaller than the getaway and has only a main sail (no jib). I found the prices to be more than fair.

Let me start this review by saying that I have spent many summers renting wave runners in Ocean…read moreCity and was not worried about my ability to use the watercraft on the water. With that said, if I was a novice, I would have been terrified to get on the water. The inept group of high schoolers and college students that helped us get out were not confidence inspiring. The woman who checked us in told us to "be careful" multiple times and insisted that we watch the safety video. However, not five seconds after we had moved to the area where you watch the video did she tell us to go outside and get a life vest. I was shocked at the speed with which were were out on the water. Once at the end of the dock, the kid that checked us in explained no less than 3 times that "this is really dangerous" without any words of guidance or advice. I got the sense that they were just waiting for something bad to happen. Once we were out there, things were fine, although the definitely had too many people out there. We spent lots of time worrying about other riders coming up behind us or stopping short in front of us while the "staff" sat and talked on or near the path where customers are supposed to ride. Worst of all this was about $150/hour. If you are itching to use a wave runner on the bay, this place is probably your best bet. But for my money, I would drive to Marmora and rent some wave runners on the bay. I would love to give a local small business 5 stars but I just cannot in good conscious given the flippant manner in which our safety was treated.

I found SUP via google and the reviews and prices made my search complete. I actually had a staff member Dominick accompany me on his paddle board and he was awesome. There are two places to learn windsurfing in South Jersey. One is Extreme Windsurfing in Atlantic…read moreCity/Pleasantville and the other is H2 Windsurfing in the Seaside Heights area. My girlfriend and I took a couple of lessons at H2 Windsurfing, which was great and got us riding. Then, we rented boards at Extreme Windsurfing, which was also a great experience. The Lakes Bay location (Extreme Windsurfing), is ideal for riding. There is parking right at the beach and you can use Holiday Inn's restroom and outside showers. Jim the owner is very experienced and friendly. His side-kick Matt set up the boards and offered some helpful tips. Rental rates are reasonable and the equipment was in good condition. We will definitely go back to either location.
