Wow! What a magic place!…read more When I arrived after lunch on a sunny September Sunday, there was a miles-long line of cars on 47N, headed home from the shore. Traffic was almost at a standstill and I felt bad none of those people knew they could pitstop at this hidden wonderland for a much better way to spend an hour or two than bumper-to-bumper! Sperlak Gallery is both an art gallery for artist, Stan Sperlak's pastels, as well as acres of sculpture garden. The gallery is free to visit, and the gardens are $10pp (my child was free). They also host special events (weddings, parties, etc), with indoor and outdoor spaces, and tents! The gardens are just a dream to wander through for a beautifully long walk. Stan said a full tour takes an hour and a half on average. I was there about 2 hours, and felt I could've stayed so much longer, just chilling in one of the seating areas, or even just sitting on the ground in the woods. Every vista is so well thought out, and the art and nature complement each other very well! Every angle is a new frame, a new experience. Stan has thought of views from both directions along the trails too, which does not go unnoticed. I don't need art to appreciate nature, but I definitely felt extra-stimulated by the ideas coming to me from my interpretations of the sculpture. I love that kind of experience! I even found myself wondering if certain natural elements were organic from the land, or placed there as part of the show. Now that is a clever art trick! THEY HAVE FESTIVALS TOO!!! I was so excited when I read about a music festival they had last spring, and even more psyched to hear they're having another. They also have other upcoming public (ticketed) events happening through the end of the year, including being on the free studio tour route for The Artists' Guild of the Cape, a poetry and acoustic open mic, an art sale & live music party, and a winter solstice festival. I spoke with Stan about these events, and I'd love to go; they sound so fun! I visited during their Sat/Sun 10-4pm business hours, but you may contact them to make a private appointment, but that's the only way to visit on a weekday. He asks 24h notice for that. He responded very quickly when I messaged him through social media. Well-behaved leashed dogs are allowed to visit the gardens on non-event days. Note that I had a hard time with my stroller in a couple of spots of terrain, but for the most part I could get around. There is a segment of trail by the pond that is "carpeted" with live moss, and is extremely cool. I parked my stroller aside and took it around the other way to avoid this area, or lifted it over portions of moss. There was no sign, but it is out of respect for the gardens and every component being part of the art. Absolutely WONDERFUL place to visit, and a MUST SEE in Cape May County!

Toured the barn and learned more about Stan and his property. His property and hiking paths along the marsh are wonderful. His own art and those from others are spread throughout the property and are interesting and well laid out. The signs in front of each piece are whimsical and Stan's sense of humor is apparent across the property. We spent almost 3 hours on the property and still didn't see everything. Great spot, we hope to return soon!!

Celeste is incredibly patient, encouraging, and always makes the lessons fun and engaging with songs and games. She gave the kids choices, built their confidence, and skillfully guided them to the next level with each session. The children absolutely adored her and looked forward to their time in the pool! Celeste was also wonderfully communicative with us as adults, keeping us informed, offering tips, and being flexible with scheduling to accommodate our needs. The Principle was one of the worse she would harassed us, split in my face I was 10 at the time, We would go to school hungry and the rich students would laugh at us when we would get sick in school. Daily the rich would laugh and mock us saying your poor and don't have a father... Most of the Nuns would encouraged the rich students to laugh at the poor students and push them , trip them, not allow the poor to participate in events. One day the principle came into my classroom called on my name -- made me stand up and said what is a verb, I said I don't know she keep repeating it and told the class several time s to yell-- what a verb is, I continue to say I don't know == just so it would stop--- but she continue to tell the class to yell to me-- what a verb is ;;;she did this to every person in my family ...My brothers warned me about her.. I remember a first grade NUN took our 6 grade class to play ball --as I was walking down the stairs she screamed at me saying you walk behind us not in front-- this was after some of the rich girls pointed at me and said that's the poor girl we dont like her.....I stopped and let them all pass by with smirks and smiles on their faces---I waited a few minutes to go outside and the NUN yell again and said you stand near the back fence away from us so I did As they began playing hand ball I stared at her from a distance and she hit the ball with her hand and ran around the bases as she approached the home plate she slid on the ground and her face slam into the drain spout blood everywhere the rich girls crying helping her inside...I stood the 20 minutes just waiting before going back into the school .This was a satisfied day for all the torcher they did to my family Sister Angus was the only NUN that was not mean to my family. there are so many stories that these nuns did to my family too much to write about
