Dr. Stacey is a wonderful doctor, however the manager of the optical department messed up my glasses prescription, twice. I went to get my new glasses and again they were wrong. I drove a distance to get them and went home with no new glasses. read more

From start to finish very thorough and knowledgeable. I felt like family. Highly recommen.

I have been seen by Stacy Gorovoy, M.D. twice now and NEVER again. She may be considered an extremely intelligent Opthamologist. But, I found her to be very rude, inconsiderate and inadequate. It is obvious that she doesn't care about her patients. She missed my diagnosis and had no time to listen to anything I had to say. Obviously, it certainly is not just me because the help there sided with me immediately and suggested that I ask for Dr Brown for my next visit. I later talked to a friend that just made an appointment there. She told me that the person on the phone suggested Dr Brown instead of Dr Stacy Gorovoy. read more

I'm shocked there are reviews for Dr. Stacey over one star. I've been going to see Dr. Mark Gorovoy for 35 years and then Dr. Stacey a few years ago. At least my appointment didn't last 3+ hours today. I've honestly given Dr. Stacey a try numerous times and after today I'm done. I will not return there. She was attempting to be attentive because I had bitterly complained that she is in and out so fast and you aren't even able to ask a question and this was obviously noted on my chart. I asked one question and wasn't at all satisfied with her answer but I was not going to continue to let her make me feel not only just like a number, but an interruption in her life. She comes in wearing a mask, ok I get it, but she has the bedside manner of a cockroach. I could go on but not worth any more of my time. read more

Apparently, Dr. Stacey belongs to the "we do not care club". (iykyk). She is annoyed by questions. Races through appointments. Talks "at" patients (not with or to them) in a very rote, scripted way. At today's appointment, she ignored 2 of my questions - just flat out ignored me and didn't answer them. The latter question had to do with what type of readers to wear after surgery for close-up. Without responding to me, she barked a bunch of prescription mumbo jumbo to the tech, then mumbled "enjoy the Fall, see you in 6 months" & was out the door before I could blink. This sums up most interactions with her over the past few months. Tech gives the papers to the optical center & tells gal behind the counter I need the prescription. The optical center ignores me standing at her desk for a solid 10 minutes while she converses with a co-worker. When I ask about the prescription, the co-worker rudely blurts, "We are ALMOST FINISHED!" and huffs away. Then I witness the optical center gal painstakingly type info from my file into the computer without a word to me, print it out, and finally ask me to sign. There is no info or instructions on what type of glasses these are on the paper. I sign and ask - What is the prescription for - are they readers or are these glasses I need to wear daily? She says, "You can wear them whenever you want." I'm sorry, I explain -- "I need to know if these are just for close up or for distance. Should I wear them when driving?" She replies, "You can if you want." I mean, come on, people, YOU CAN DO BETTER. I left disgusted -- I will ahve to call back and ask a nurse because I was afraid of losing my cool at that point. Every single encounter has been that way, save one - only ONE individual has been able to address me as a person to my face and speak kindly to me. I disregarded most of the rudeness because I told myself all that mattered was if she was a good surgeon. My recovery has NOT been stellar, and I am very concerned about the disparity of vision between both eyes. So it's too early to rate her on that. I am trying to be patient, as I know it takes time to heal, and I'm just a few weeks out, but let me tell you I was wrong about the rudeness factor. It causes patients to lose confidence in the doctor, and how their people treat you is a reflection of you. HOW YOU TREAT PEOPLE MATTERS. read more

Dr. Stacey is one of the most knowledgeable, caring and professional doctors I've ever encountered. My mom had a very traumatic/life altering stroke prior to having cataract surgery and I could not ask for a better doctor and staff to attend to my mom than Dr. Stacey and company. I consider myself overly protective and I can honestly say that my mom was in the best hands. If you don't take my word for it, the families of patients echoed my experiences on pre-op and post-op surgery visits as we banded together in support of one another. read more

I tried to look past Dr. Stacey's curt and smug bedside manner, as well as the strict mask policy (if you take it off when in the room alone you will be asked to leave). But the hidden charges and long wait times are inexcusable. After allowing 3-1/2 hours for the 3 exams needed, I had to leave with only one exam complete so as to get to work on time. Three and a half hours were spent waiting in a 64 degree room and then I was scolded for not staying longer to complete the other 2 tests. My time had no value and the fact that I needed to get to work was inconvenient for them. On two separate occasions they were asked to provide me the full cost of procedure so I would know what to expect. Yet both times the bill was much more than quoted. Staff always blamed the insurance company even though they were asked to check with insurance first. I'm told she is a good surgeon but it takes more to win my trust. read more

I am very pleased with Dr. Stacey Gorovoy and Gorovoy Eye. She is an exceptional Opthamologist, very caring, and professional. She goes each patient a lot of time. She diagnosed my Double Vision problem and righly prescribed lenses with Prisms in both my reading and distance glasses and polarized sunglasses. Both lenses are made by Varilus. These eyeglasses have changed my life. I can finally read with new reading and distance eyeglasses. it has been a long time since I have been able to do it. Also, I can now drive at night, which I could not do before. My polarized sunglasses are working very well also. Greg and Aly are terrific, friendly, helpful, professional, and professional Opticians. They picked out the right lens for me and give clients all of the necessary time to adjust your eyeglasses. The quality of care at Gorovo Eye is unmatched. My wife is a retired Nurses and always recommend Gorovoy Eye to our friends for eye exams, cataracts removal, etc. We would not go to any other Opthamology practice. read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. They have a quota so they do a high pressure selling job of procedures. Terrible bedside manner. Brusque even nasty. read more

She promised I'd never need reading or distance glasses again if I got the very expensive lenses when she removed my cataracts. I need both! And my reading glasses keep needing a stronger up grade. Plus, she left a small piece of the cataract in one eye, which she removed while I was not sedated. Her father is supposed to be good, but stay away from Stacey. read more

I hate living so far away from my dad because all his parts are starting to ail him. This year it's his eyes. A cataract surgery over ten years ago included lens replacements in both eyes. That doctor did a less than stellar job and one of the lenses was starting to slip so a replacement was getting rather imperative. This doctor is apparently the very best in the Fort Myers area at this type of surgery- unfortunately he knows it. From the big building with his name in 10 feet high letters to certificates, commendations, and magazine covers plastered throughout every exam and waiting room I understood immediately he was either good or full of himself. Don't get me wrong, I'm very thankful he fixed my dad but his bedside manner is crap. The nurses seem to have the same brusque attitude. A hello goes a long way in establishing some semblance of a healthcare professional/patient relationship. It might just be me but to my way of thinking, anybody that needs THAT much recognition and can't even offer up a "Hello Kimmer's, Dad" upon being graced with his presence a full 93 minutes after his scheduled appointment time isn't someone I hold in high regard. With that being said would I recommend him for your loved one? Darn right. He IS that good. read more

Worst experience as a patient. The male nurse is condescending and rude. He is allowed to talk down to patients and when I complained and asked for someone else to complete my rue exam, I was accused of disrespecting staff. As a healthcare professional myself I understand how it can feel to be mistreated however I was not the attacker yet I was the one leaving the office in tears because of the bad behavior of staff. Never ever go to this physician. read more

Dr. Gorovoy has a horrible bedside manner; brusque, hurried and uncaring. His assistant was very knowledgable & answered questions very thoroughly by telephone, but I have never experienced such lack of compassion from a medical professional before. Although the questions we asked were solely about the vision issues, when she was told that the patient's reason for delaying surgery was a burst intestine that caused sepsis and nearly death, there was no reaction. Nor was there a murmur of empathy when told that the patient is now undergoing chemo for lymphoma. We weren't talking about a stranger, this is a long-time patient who'd undergone 2 surgeries! When her lack of humanity was pointed out, she was completely baffled, stating that she thought this call was just to answer medical questions. Yes, but seriously, not even a pause to say "I hope you're feeling alright" or "I'm sorry to hear that???" I'm more empathetic than that to people I meet in the checkout line at the grocery store!!! In terms of surgical ability, I don't know how to rate Dr. Gorovoy. First surgery a few years ago: Great. Second surgery: disastrous, vision severely worsened. Office's explanation is that untreated pressure can cause loss over time . . . but awfully fishy that there wasn't any difficulty focusing prior to surgery (despite 3-month delay due to emergency colostomy) but there has been since the procedure. read more

Be forewarned! Your bill will be 3X what you think is what you'll need. It's over $635. per eye, just for the initial exam. They DO NOT inform you of the further $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$required to actually have the procedure. I'm considering a call to the DPR or the Attorney General. The way the billing offices publicly tried to shame my husband into thinking he was ignorant. He's actually an MD. Shame on the office. Go somewhere else. Perhaps you'll receive a bit of common decency. read more

This is going to be short and sweet for now. THIS is the place to go for an eye exam. The people at the front desk were very nice and very helpful. The tech was very professional and very nice. The Dr was very thorough. My prescription was perfect the first time. The girl helping me pick out/order the glasses was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. I went back 8 months later to get my glasses tightened and the same girl was there and again very helpful. I'm serious. Save yourself time and money and get your eyes checked here. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Gorovoy for several years now. He did my cataract surgeries and although he is very busy, he is someone I know I can depend on for my eyes. I have been seeing Dr Stacey Gorovoy for 5 years now and have found her remarkably talented, knowledgeable and exceptionally concerned about her patients. I have had extremely difficult eye issues which normally would have had to be attended to at an eye specialist such as Bascom Palmer in Miami but everything I needed done was accomplished with perfection by Doctor Stacey. She and her father are a treasure to our community and I cannot recommend them highly enough. I must also add that their entire staff could not be more pleasant, efficient or courteous! read more

I was initially put off by some of the negative reviews about bedside manner, etc, but two other ophthalmologists in town both told me that they thought Dr. Gorovoy was the best in the business, and would be their doctor of choice for their families. My wife and I have been seeing him now for several years, and he has done several complicated eye surgeries on my wife that no one else could have done. The results were excellent and we're super pleased and thankful for his skill in solving these problems. No, he's not warm and cuddly in his bedside manner, but he's brilliant and incisive, and he does superb work where it really counts. read more

Argumentative, rude and condasending......and that was just the receptionist. I made an initial appointment by phone a few weeks ago for contact lens fitting. I was told, 18 Jun 2019 at 1100. I made the note in my calendar. I arrived for my appointment on 18 June at 1045 and was told that my appointment was at 1000 and would have to reschedule because the Dr.went to surgery at 1100 and that it tool 2 - 3 hours for the contact lens appointment. That was the first questionable indicator......if it took 2 - 3 hours for the appointment and the Dr. had surgery at 1100, why was I scheduled for a 1000 or 1100 appointment? That would not leave enough time for the "comprehensive" appointment. I told the receptionist that I was told 1100 and that I made a note of the time and date. She held up an appointment card and told me unless the time was written "on one of these cards" she would have to go with what was on the schedule. I reminded her that I made the appointment over the phone. I told her I would Not be rescheduling and to give me my insurance and drivers license back. I told her that I had driven up from Naples so she felt compelled to tell me that she had to drive 45 minutes to get to work there too. I wasn't going to work, I was paying for a service! As I got into the elevator, she had to get one more dig in and have the last word so she told me "good luck on my drive back to Naples." I told her "good luck on her write-up" as the elevator door closed. The front Desk is often a direct reflection of the attitude of the medical staff. Having never met the Doctor, I can only guess. I can assure you that I will never go back to find out. read more

Dr. Gorovoy is supposed to be a good eye surgeon. I had eye surgery with him (so I would not have to wear glasses anymore) and was left with poor vision in both eyes. I could not get a clear answer as to what went wrong. He seems to be in a hurry to get out the door and on to the next patient. Shows no concern that here you are with horrible vision and cannot return to work. Things were not clearly explained to me prior to the surgery, but this was only apparent to me post-surgically. The office is like a factory. Way too many patients squeezed in with very long waits. Some of his staff is pleasant but several are not nice at all, especially his assistant who is in the room with him for your one minute and 30 second visit. Not only was I talked down to but, in the many visits I had, I saw several patients treated the same way, even in the surgical suite. I should have left then. Overall, this was a very bad experience. I don't think Dr. Gorovoy or some of his office staff truly realizes how scary it is to lose most of your vision. I have since gone to another eye surgeon to get answers as to what is going on with my eyes, a little compasion and resolution. read more

If you don't mind waiting for a full hour - or more - to see the doctor, and you love having more tests than necessary done, then this is your kind of place. In response to my irritation his response was "if I could charge you ten times more I would, I'm worth it!". No joke, exactly those words. Six months ago I went in for an initial exam after moving to FL from CA and expected the battery of tests and got them, but when I went back for a simple pressure check I was met with a dilation from the tech for a new test. I refused, and when I Finally got to the doc he was visibly ticked off, and to be fair, so was I. Seventy minutes in the office, 7 spent with the tech for the pressure check and "discussion" and another 7 with the doc. The rest in their waiting rooms. Oh, did I mention they have 40 (really, no joke) chairs in their front lobby? Another 15 in the next one. He may be a special surgeon, but bedside manner is not a strong suit, nor is manners. read more

A few years ago I went in and had the cataracts removed from both eyes. Also had corrective lens put in. The right eye was done first since it was the worse. I went back a week later and complained that I could see better before. It was like looking through wax paper. I was told that he decided not to put "relaxation" cuts in and that he would correct it after he had done the left. The left eye has turned out great. But when approached him about the right eye, he said nothing could be done. I waited and went to my regular optometrist appointment and talked with him about it. He tested my eyes and I told him I COULD see better with a corrective len. If that can correct it then Gorovoy could very well fix the problem. He agreed. He, my optometrist, even made the call for me and set up the appointment with Gorovoy. At the appointment Gorovoy maintained his previous stand, that nothing could be done. I don't know if it's a money thing or his ego. My guess is the latter. I've moved to Venice recently and at my wife urging, I had a second opinion done by the Center for Sight. I went in for the recommended corrective surgery to correct the right eye. It went from 70 to 30. Now I can see well with both eyes. If I had it to do over again, I'd find someone else to take care of my eyes. You should have second thought too. read more
