I must admit I was unimpressed when my wife announced that she had booked a week in Perisher at the height of the NSW school holidays. Skiing is expensive especially with three kids and the snow can be hit or miss. Sure enough, we arrived to not much snow.
The apartment we were staying in was great, even though the stairs were designed for mountain goats. It was comfortable and big enough that the teenagers could find their own space to cope with a lack of snow.
It had all the cooking facilities that you could ask for, there was no reason to eat in the Stables restaurant.
The thing is that its the sort of restaurant you go to for no reason. It has an early happy hour, with good mix of cocktails but the fun goes on for hours. The restaurant manager had a mix of charm and cheer that made eating there a great experience.
On the second day the snow came, then came and kept coming. Each day the weather conditions varied and more snow came. The snow was great despite conditions that were sometimes less than pleasurable.
When we finally left and we were all in the car on the way home, the kid's verdict was best holiday ever. read more
