Oh how great the feeling is to time travel...I went to school here in the late 80s early 90s and I can say that saint timothy taught me all about friendship, kindness, and the respect you give to the community. Nothing has changed in that aspect...even the sight of the building and landscaping makes me reminisce to a well groomed suburban 80s sitcom type building...where everyone is happy and the problems are fixed with a quick word of advise in the mist of a piano sax solo. Maybe a few cosmetic changes that I'm not that crazy about...like what's with the light green layered wall behind the alter and that green and white marble podium? What's with the drapes around the cross...and oh yeah what's with the cross? It was always a free floating statue of Jesus...well at least the same figure is there....and so are the carpets, the benches and the beautiful stained glass...I love it! Going to that church reminds me of how great life was when I was little in my middle school years...I remember father miyares (probably didn't spell that correctly) mrs d, sister Mary Ellen, mrs trujillo music class, mrs pico...CC hall, summer camp, and school lol... just so many memories. Unfortunately, my grandmothers funeral was held there and ever since then I try not to think of her casket in the isle and I try to remember her holding my hand in prayer during church...I love St. Timothy, and shame to anyone who thinks it's about money...everything is about money unfortunately, but just like every church, they too need to pay the bills...we didn't hear so much of that story growing up...we were too busy trying to act out scenes from top gun or buying garbage pail kids cards from the ice cream truck or even not try to throw up on the gravitron when the carnival came by. After years away from Miami and the innocent years long gone from the middle school days, it's a blessing to be able to time travel back to the same church and smell the same scent and sing the same hymns with my wife from California (who loves the new "lamb of God" song by the way). It sure is nice to see that another inspiring priest is up there every Sunday at 6pm preaching the word of The Lord in a way many of us can understand and still stay awake! Everyone's parish is within their hearts...and St. Timothy's parish will hold true for many years to come.
Come on by, you won't regret it! read more
