Some road construction on the main road right next to the church. Mass this morning was with Fr. Edmund. This church is really big and beautiful with stained glass. The grounds are exceptional with sitting areas to pray. As you walk around you will find the stations of the cross. We moved from Oregon and will register as parish members. It also has a chapel, community center, food pantry, and gift shop.

This church is next to a park and Thrifty's. Other than these great commodities, this church is really nice. It feels homey and the people are really friendly they feel like family to me. They have a gift shop outside of the chapel and the parking lot gets really full so you have to come a little bit early if you want to get a close parking spot. The location is really easy to find and it's close to home

I love this church. It's clean, spacious, modern and close to my house. I attend the 530 mass on Sunday evenings. It's more upbeat, has livelier music and is catered toward a younger crowd. Before mass, there are always announcements on volunteer work or how we can help the community. After mass, the priest stands outside to greet everyone or to bless anyone that needs the spiritual assistance. I recommend arriving at least 15 minutes early to mass because it does fill up quickly. As long as I live in Vegas, this will be my #1 church.

The choir is awesome and the priests give very nice homilies. The place is always clean and the sound system setup is great so that you can hear the procession from any seat in the church. This church holds thousands of people and many people are friendly at this parish. Even when the St. Francis of Assisi opened up nearby. I heard people went there but came back because there was a sense of family and community that gathers at St. Thomas More. They have a huge parking lot which also is nearby a shopping center where overflow park. What I also like about this church is when you walk your way to the front during the spring time, the trees flanking the path have beautiful pink blossoms that smell really nice. Regular attendees will know what I'm referring to. This is the best church in Clark County/Vegas/Henderson if you ask me and I'm willing to drive to it from the other sides of town.

This update will be more of an informative session, especially for engaged couples. We had set an appointment up to see the church's wedding coordinator, Pam, a few months ago to see what details needed to be covered by an interested couple to get married in the church. It went smoothly for the most part as an appointment. The main office is to the left of the church's front doors, but parishioners should ring the doorbell as it's always locked. For engaged couples, they have to be registered and regularly-attending parishioners. There's also a $100 deposit (made by check) required for the wedding. For music, you have to contact the church's music director. The priest will also meet with you as a couple about 6 months prior to your wedding day. The couple also has to attend mass regularly for at least 3 months (at least once a week) prior to meeting the priest, which is tracked by the donation envelopes. Even if my fiance and I can't make it to a Saturday or Sunday mass, we could make up for it by going to 8AM mass on the week days. As for other Catholic church records, at least one of the couple is expected to be baptized and confirmed - my fiance in this case. The records this parish asks for is time sensitive. When I say this, I mean that your Catholic records have to dated/printed about 6 months prior to the wedding date. There's also a class that couples have to take together, which is organized about 3 to 4 times a year - only saw 3 available dates last year. That all-day class welcomes couples from all over Vegas, and it's $75. Last notes/words of advice: 1. Try to set an appointment with Pam to actually fill out the paperwork after the initial consultation. Otherwise, you're going to be on the lookout for her before Sunday mass times, and she's usually walking around to help prep mass. 2. Be active with the church, so the staff (like Pam), priests and other parishioners recognize you. This church seems to try to support their regular parishioners first.

Ask the Community - St Thomas More Catholic Community

Does St Thomas still have a teen Mass in 2025? What time?

Hi! Yes, our teens attend the 5:30 pm Masses as part of their Confirmation program when classes are in session (they’re not in session now during the summer break). It still is a Mass with our lively, Life Teen Band and such as well!

    When do you have confession's?

Saturdays from 2:30 - 3:45 pm or by appointment by calling 702-361-3022.

Do you guys do services for funerals?

Yes, we do! If you’re interested, please contact Lisa Fairweather in our parish office at 702-361-3022. She coordinates our funerals.

Is there a Spanish mass? The website only gives the times but not the language, unless it's only English?

We do not have Spanish Masses here. You can try nearby Henderson parishes that do; St Peter’s and Holy Family! Hope that helps!

Do you have only one mass everyday? Thank you.

Hello! Yes, our weekday Masses are at 8:00 am. On Saturday, Mass is at 4:00 pm and on Sunday, Masses are at 8:00 am, 10:00 am, 12:00 pm, and 5:30 pm.

Is there a way to get holy water or have bottles of water blessed?

Yes, feel free to stop by our Parish Office during business hours!

Do you a place to light candles?

Yes, in our church and chapel.

What time can I come visit the Blessed Sacrament? What time does the monstrance open?

We have Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament (open to all) the first Friday of each month from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. The church, chapel, and our outdoor prayer gardens are also open for personal prayer during the weekday office hours.

What's the typical donation amount for funeral services (mass)?

Hi! The suggested donation is typically $450.00, however, our parish is great about working with families on it all. All information for funeral planning with our parish can be found here: https://www.stmlv.org/funeral-planning

How can i inquire about getting my son baptized at this parish?

Hi! We'd love to help! Please call the Baptism Coordinator; Stacey, at 702-361-3022! She can answer all of your Baptism questions!

    Is the gift shop open?

The gift shop is not open at the moment, however if you contact Mike Ryan in our Parish Office (702-361-3022), he may have you make an appointment to go in the shop privately.

Is church open even with Covid concern? If so how is distancing managed.

Every. Single. Year... I go back and forth about posting this. But I'm at a point in my life, where…read moreI'm choosing not to stay silent about what I've been through, regardless of whether a lot of time has passed. So here are just some of the instances that happened during my time at this church, as a young 20 yr old trying to find peace after some trauma. This all happened several years ago, but clearly is something that has weighed heavily on me since then, and was ultimately the demise of my attendance with the church. 1) I was told very private information about other members of the church by leaders... information that should've never been shared, and information I had no business knowing. "Don't tell anyone I told you this, but..." -the woman's pastor. What had she been telling others about me? 2) being told "your works do not define who you are" and then being told that I'm not doing enough to serve the church after bending my back over for them and the children's ministry. 3) This is while I was venting about an unrequited love... Women's pastor: "did you have any kind of intimacy with this guy?" Me: "yes" (In my head: we kissed and that's it) Women's pastor: "well, when I was your age, I was a whore too" (those were her actual words) 4) "you're too young to know what real hurt is." Told to me by a member after I told the women's group that my boyfriend died of cancer 5) women's pastor: "are you an alcoholic?" Me: "no. I grew up around alcoholics and no i am not an alcoholic" Women's pastor: "well, alcoholics usually say they aren't..." I told her she basically just called me an alcoholic and then she gaslighted me into believing that it was my own insecurities and pride that took it that way... looking back on it now, no one else would have taken what she said in a different way than I did. As you can see, my review is mostly about one person. My experience is complex, like many others. I was easily influenced during these years, as I was desperate for healing, which is why I think I stayed even after seeing the red flags. Most people that come to church, come with trauma. I understand the idea in which people think their own healing journeys are the "answer" to everyone else's... it's not. But that is how I was treated. I did have positive experiences here too. The actual sermons and worship are really great. The members are typically great. It's a beautifully diverse church and I really loved how there were many different people from many different backgrounds. I found this church out of desperation for healing. My relationship with God strengthened at the time, but the way the women's pastor treated me through the mentioned experiences above, was gross. What's worse is that the two other members I confided in about my experiences with the woman's pastor, was not surprised. I quit the church cold turkey after reflecting on a year of my experiences with her.

I found The Rock two yrs ago and knew as soon as I walked through the doors that I would be loved…read moreand accepted! The staff and congregates genuinely love the Lord; the worship time is upbeat and intimate, glorifying our God, And the teachings by both the lead Pastor and Associate Pastor are incredible!! You actually leave having learned something, being encouraged and maybe convicted, but all in love! I could go on, but you really need to check it out for yourself. You'll be blessed and your search just might end as mine did!?!
