Ask the Community - Central Church - Henderson

I am new to Henderson interested in attending a non denominational church. Are people friendly and welcoming because I don't know anyone. Is it casual dress or do you have to dress up?

Yes, Central is a place for everyone!

What time is the Sunday services?

Saturdays at 5:00 PM and Sundays at 9:45 AM, 11:30 AM, and 1:00 PM.

Please, Please do tell us where's Drew?

The church needs to start answering the congregation and address the rumors that Drew is being investigated for sexual assault. Why is the church and leadership (his dad) covering this up?

What happened to Drew Bodine from Central live and the worship team?

Check Reddit. Quite the coverup it seems.

Will this church provide clarity and transparency in regards to what happen to Drew? So many in the congregation are seeking answers.

Is he still gone? I am horrified at what I have been told after the investments I placed into this church.

How much time should I allow to park and get seated before the service. And, is the Saturday evening service as busy as a Sunday?

All of the services are busy so definitely give plenty of time for navigating traffic delays, parking lot and making it into the church. 15 minutes before service is always a good time to arrive to ensure that you get yourself settled, find seating… Read more

I have a 13y/o who needs to connect with others . What do you offer? She is home schooled and needs socialization.

Central has church services for middle and high schoolers every weekend. They also have mid-week events every month or two just for middle and high schoolers. In the summer, they have a summer camp.

What kind of Christian is this church?

Central is a non-denominational Christian church.

Do any of the men wear short pants? I don't want to be out of place. Please be honest. I don't want to show up in shorts and be the only one. Carl A

It's come as you are my husband wears shorts every Sunday

Do they have mass on mondays?

No, Saturday at 5 and Sunday at 10,1130, and 1

Is the church gay friendly?

Yes!

Is there a Christmas eve service?

Yes. 1:00, 3:00, 5:00 and 7:00

Can anyone tell me if this is a come as you are church, lgbtq friendly?

Yes! This is a church for everyone! We love you as you are!

Every. Single. Year... I go back and forth about posting this. But I'm at a point in my life, where…read moreI'm choosing not to stay silent about what I've been through, regardless of whether a lot of time has passed. So here are just some of the instances that happened during my time at this church, as a young 20 yr old trying to find peace after some trauma. This all happened several years ago, but clearly is something that has weighed heavily on me since then, and was ultimately the demise of my attendance with the church. 1) I was told very private information about other members of the church by leaders... information that should've never been shared, and information I had no business knowing. "Don't tell anyone I told you this, but..." -the woman's pastor. What had she been telling others about me? 2) being told "your works do not define who you are" and then being told that I'm not doing enough to serve the church after bending my back over for them and the children's ministry. 3) This is while I was venting about an unrequited love... Women's pastor: "did you have any kind of intimacy with this guy?" Me: "yes" (In my head: we kissed and that's it) Women's pastor: "well, when I was your age, I was a whore too" (those were her actual words) 4) "you're too young to know what real hurt is." Told to me by a member after I told the women's group that my boyfriend died of cancer 5) women's pastor: "are you an alcoholic?" Me: "no. I grew up around alcoholics and no i am not an alcoholic" Women's pastor: "well, alcoholics usually say they aren't..." I told her she basically just called me an alcoholic and then she gaslighted me into believing that it was my own insecurities and pride that took it that way... looking back on it now, no one else would have taken what she said in a different way than I did. As you can see, my review is mostly about one person. My experience is complex, like many others. I was easily influenced during these years, as I was desperate for healing, which is why I think I stayed even after seeing the red flags. Most people that come to church, come with trauma. I understand the idea in which people think their own healing journeys are the "answer" to everyone else's... it's not. But that is how I was treated. I did have positive experiences here too. The actual sermons and worship are really great. The members are typically great. It's a beautifully diverse church and I really loved how there were many different people from many different backgrounds. I found this church out of desperation for healing. My relationship with God strengthened at the time, but the way the women's pastor treated me through the mentioned experiences above, was gross. What's worse is that the two other members I confided in about my experiences with the woman's pastor, was not surprised. I quit the church cold turkey after reflecting on a year of my experiences with her.

I found The Rock two yrs ago and knew as soon as I walked through the doors that I would be loved…read moreand accepted! The staff and congregates genuinely love the Lord; the worship time is upbeat and intimate, glorifying our God, And the teachings by both the lead Pastor and Associate Pastor are incredible!! You actually leave having learned something, being encouraged and maybe convicted, but all in love! I could go on, but you really need to check it out for yourself. You'll be blessed and your search just might end as mine did!?!
