I quickly felt at home and knew instantly this was the place for us. The structure and traditions are similar to the church I grew up in, but Foothills is far more progressive--welcoming to people from all walks of life and levels of belief. I felt instantly welcomed and not at all judged. They are a smaller church community, but well-sized for their building, which is beautiful and peaceful. I visited other churches that were much larger and felt lost, not sure of how I would fit in. But Foothills is just the right size. There aren't a lot of young children...yet, but there is a lot of energy and enthusiasm. A year ago they hired a new pastor after their previous pastor retired. They also have a wonderful associate pastor who has been there for years and helps run the youth programs. They have a great nursery for small children that opens before church (although I brought my baby into church without a problem), a children's choir, youth classes, and an annual youth service trip. Some of my favorite activities/events at Foothills have included: a service day where groups volunteered at numerous sites in the area, an Iftar dinner with a local Muslim community, a peaceful candle-lit dinner for Maundy Thursday, and a potluck dinner followed by outing to see the Los Altos holiday parade. To get married at the church, you need to attend a one day marriage workshop, which isn't bad at all. I love a house that unapologetically preaches the Bible and not only that, equips its members to actually live it out. When my now husband and I started dating last January, he started coming to church with me. I invited him into something that had already changed my life, and then I got to watch it change his. The leadership here is so intentional and so dedicated to people. They really see you. They call things out of you that you might even miss in yourself. Watching him get activated in his faith was so special because it was real. It was genuine growth. Because of that culture that is so beautiful here at Vive, we have both been able to step more confidently into our calling of leading the next generation. It feels like such an honor to be in a place that does not just talk about purpose but actually equips you to walk in it. If I am being honest, when I first started coming years ago, I was hesitant to fully get involved. I would show up and serve but still keep parts of myself guarded. Once I really leaned in and allowed the leadership and community to love on me, everything shifted. The last three years especially have been exponential growth in my faith. My relationship with God is deeper, more personal, and more intentional than it has ever been. And it is not just a church, it is a family. I met my closest friends here. My wedding was full of people from this house. We have been continuously blessed by the leadership and guidance we have received, not just spiritually but in our careers and personal lives. Every aspect of our lives has been touched by leaders who genuinely dedicate their time to pour into you and go the extra mile for you. I am so grateful for a church that invests in people, believes in them, and calls them higher. I enjoy the small size of this church and how the pews are traditionally arranged all facing foward - it works well in a tiny church not so much in the large ones. It definately has a small community feel and the accoustics are great - the lectors, priest and musicians can be easily heard and understood. This church must be popular because they also have a small gathering room off to the side with chairs and televisions that have a live broadcast of the mass - used when the small church fills up. The location is a bit confusing to get to because you go through a beautifully nature filled neighborhood to get to it, so definitely use Mapquest or a GPS.

The service time is short and sweet, consistently one hour on the dot, with a ~20 min sermon. The congregation is very diverse and the people here are generally very nice and welcoming. They have ample organic coffee and doughnut holes laid out before and after every service. The pastor's sermons are bible-based and offer some practical application to modern day life. The bad: the pre-school teacher Jess was cold and not very welcoming to either us or our child. Maybe she was just having a bad day, but she did not make us feel comfortable and clearly did not want to be there. When we asked if my wife could stay with the child, she visibly bristled and said "for 5 minutes." When we explained that this was his first time and that he was not used to being in these kind of situations, she responded "yeah, there may be some tears, but usually they get over it. If he continues to cry, you'll have to come get him." She did not have a good poker face and her expressions clearly showed displeasure and annoyance at our questions. I don't know her personally, but the pre-school ministry is clearly not the right place for her. The other volunteers in the kids ministry were all very welcoming and friendly, taking the time to walk us through the check-in and check-out process. As toddler parents, a big part of our decision to join and stay with a church community is based on the experience for our child, who is just being introduced to God's family and love. We would strongly encourage the church leaders to reevaluate the pre-school program and find another volunteer who is a better representative of God's family and love.

David's sermons are really well-rounded as he's really intent on making biblical points that are applicable but don't stray from the original context and meaning. An additional bonus to coming to Current is the yummy snacks they have on special occasions (shoutout Rocko's Tacos, BonChon, and more). It is an expositional Bible teaching, evangelical, fundamentalist church. If you are reading this far bear with it for a few more sentences, and following is an explanation if what this means. What you will find in our church are genuinely nice people who have a love for God and a Heart for others. You will hear the Word of God taught straight out of the Bible, and be drawn in by worship music like no other! Now what is all of that other stuff? Expositional Bible teaching means you read the Bible, study the context and the original language then "expose" how it applies in one's life. We don't teach how to make a million dollars using biblical principles. Evangelical means we take Jesus' commandment to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28) seriously. We evangelize meaning we promote and verbalize the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It does NOT mean we try to convert you to Christianity (as defined in Webster's dictionary). That's God's job. Fundamentalist is NOT a dirty word. It has become in some circles equivalent to being a terrorist. The Christian fundamentalist movement actually began in the early 1900's. A group of pastors formed a convention to confirm the fundamentals of the historic Christian faith. The church was being influenced by very liberal teachings that were not in line with what the Apostles taught (most of the New Testament). So regardless of what Rosie O'Donnell may say a Christian fundamentalist is not the same as a radical religious terrorist. We meet Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM and Thursday at 7:00 PM. We have heartfelt worship, encouraging prayer, a wonderful head pastor and his dedicated team of pastors & elders who truly tend, feed and love the church body! I love CCMV. I've since moved to San Jose but continue to go back up to Mountain View because that's how much I truly love and feel loved and spiritually nurtured in this church body. Briefly, this is the first church I have ever actively attended. Now, don't misunderstand, I've been to churches: Catholic, baptist, pentecostal etc... and that was prior to surrendering my life to Jesus Christ. But on that fateful Sunday more than 2 years ago, when I walked into this church in my penguin pajamas & bedhead: angry at the world, looking to pick a fight, weary & lost and not trusting anyone, especially not Christians... Not one dirty look came my way, but instead hugs and welcoming smiles and faces ... and the prophetic Word of God coming through Pastor Rick Franks to pierce my heart and bring me to salvation. ALCF will hold its final service at the Leghorn facility on Sunday, May 5th, 2022 at 5:00 PM. This…read morecloses out the long-term, seemingly endless pastoral-Board-of Directors turmoil, which began with the ALCF's founding pastor's "moral failure," surprise resignation, and was subsequently followed by five former ALCF pastors. The final, current and sixth ALCF pastor, Gary Anderson was mysteriously absent from service on Sunday, April 24th, 2022. The facility was sold to the Palo Alto, California based Vive Church, in September, 2021. Vive subsequently evicted ALCF, for allegedly violating a long term lease, originally set to expire in 2023. Vive, a multi-racial, multicultural, multiple site, mega church will soon occupy the site as its headquarters. Vive is committed to keep using the Leghorn site for Christian works only. Vive's actions will prevent developers wrecking balls from bulldozing the facility. Hopefully and prayerfully, Vive and ALCF will continue God's work, grow and thrive.
