I wrote back to the Pastor and explained my disappointment in this, especially for a church member that had tithed with that church for over 37 years and also served as a deacon for the church. I got an apology letter and a revised answer that they would actually provide the service. I was advised the the pastor would contact me prior to the service. All the information was provided to the church including an obituary type letter for the Pastor. Well, the day came for the service, no call and no Pastor. And this goes to prove why I don't believe in church. God Yes, church No.

I still vividly remember my first small group. It was at Peter's house (chgo boy while still single). Walter lead my break-out small group. This…read morecloses out the long-term, seemingly endless pastoral-Board-of Directors turmoil, which began with the ALCF's founding pastor's "moral failure," surprise resignation, and was subsequently followed by five former ALCF pastors. The final, current and sixth ALCF pastor, Gary Anderson was mysteriously absent from service on Sunday, April 24th, 2022. The facility was sold to the Palo Alto, California based Vive Church, in September, 2021. Vive subsequently evicted ALCF, for allegedly violating a long term lease, originally set to expire in 2023. Vive, a multi-racial, multicultural, multiple site, mega church will soon occupy the site as its headquarters. Vive is committed to keep using the Leghorn site for Christian works only. Vive's actions will prevent developers wrecking balls from bulldozing the facility. Hopefully and prayerfully, Vive and ALCF will continue God's work, grow and thrive. No one ran around the sanctuary waving banners over us while we tried to worship. The messages are excellent. The word is always practical and drawn out of the scriptures. Unfortunately, in my past I experienced a pastor who is comfortable telling lies, and that's made me a somewhat cynical person. Now when I look at a church, I really check it out, and especially check out everything about the pastor. This pastor, Greg, is a solid guy. A Christian. A man's man. Above all, someone who doesn't lie. There are 200 to 300 people attending the church. They have a full list of various kinds of small groups available AND Friday night softball! This church has become our home and I recommend it to anyone who is looking around for a new Church.

Even though their numbers are small (less than 200) , they support mission work locally and around the world. I recommend OVCC to anyone who is looking for a local church with a strong on-line presence.

They do about 4-5 songs per congregation lead by a strong worship group. Overall, it is completely different from my catholic upbringing - no book readings, no "breaking the bread" book. I do enjoy coming here, but prepare yourself for that different structure. The focus here is on people and relationships. It's a strong community that exudes "extended family". They are welcoming and accepting, although it takes a while before feeling like one of the "in crowd". On Sunday mornings you'll find Biblical, Christ-centered teaching through books of the Bible. There is a strong emphasis on not just being a hearer of the Word but a doer of the Word. I have personally found this community to be welcoming, loving and caring. In 2023 I broke multiple bones which landed me a wheelchair for 3 months. This community provided love and support in so many different ways as people prayed for me, bought meals, spent time with me and offered practical supports. Community groups have offered a place to be transparent, deepen my relationship with God, and grow in my faith with people who genuinely care about me. I am very thankful for the pastors and elders who leads us and encourage us. This church isn't perfect but I feel like our leadership has a desire to grow and learn and glorify God in their lives.

Sadly, neither a lead pastor nor officiating membership are anywhere in scripture! We are all priests in Christ as head Priest and there is No mandate for who should preach. It went to his head and hopefully will stop emphasizing to the world his " title" at some point in his walk! He bow away a few people who were regulating but members elsewhere. I know this because I posted on Facebook about titles and membership only to have two people I met at Church of the Valley tell me they were asked to leave essentially for not membering! Tim's need to Lord over them became a contention and they left. Recently he blocked me and mine after ignoring texts previously common between us! This is flawed " pastering". When you only will fellowship with those in your flock and shun Christians you know outside it you are creating a cultic community. Sad! The all of the sudden four reviews from members who don't right reviews within the past few days is silly gossip Tim. And you Block Chad whom you have unresolved sin against now because your conscience doesn't except the reality of my testimony about you only further validates your problem!
