I saw that they also had a Sunday service but didn't realize that the Service and study group would be related. I am so grateful that I found this genuinely loving group of people, so much so that I now go to the Service and study group. The weekly message during the Service many times coincides with the Workbook message and I can't begin to express how I feel when we're done. If your looking for a Spiritual experience that lifts you to the next level, I highly recommend you give COTH a try.

My attendance dropped off during and after the pandemic. I missed being part of the church community and have revisited twice and both times I have not enjoyed my experience. The first time I brought my friend who was struggling with a drug addiction hoping to introduce him to an environment for spiritual health. The last time I went with my partner. The church as become too political. I am surrounded by politics constantly and for me, church should be a place to escape and to address my relationship with God and my spirit. Even the emails I receive are consistently about political matters. The church seems to have changed from a place that is Jesus focused spirtuality to political activist focused. I really loved this church but as the leadership has changed, the environment has only become political.

This is not a mega-church, so it is easy to connect and you won't end up feeling lost. The service is low-key and welcoming, and the pastor, Kevin, seems to really make an attempt to make people of all backgrounds feel comfortable. He also uses his sermons to work though tough questions, which is refreshing. I would highly recommend The Table to anyone looking for a church home.

One of the most welcoming churches I have ever been to in my life!…read more The service is started with showering the room with love and happiness through religious-based modern music (eg. Elevation Authority Workshop), followed by greeting 5 people that you have never met paired with a snack, praying for those who had submitted praying request, and then the actual service. What is different about this review is that I am actually agnostic in belief and not that religious. I come to this church because I am open to learning more about religion, I absolutely love the environment, and a lot of the teachings that they state could be applied to anyone's life. I love how they take one passage from the Bible and apply it to everyday in a very modern way, such that we are all inspired to always improve ourselves. After service, they sometimes have a little snack you can help yourself to. I was here during the soup season! In addition, if you go downstairs, they have tea, apple cider, and coffee. If I live here, I'm definitely choosing this place as my long-term church!

As…read moreI seat down to listen the wonderful teaching from the Pastor about turning life around to Christ, to reconcile, to reconstruct and rekindle the relationship with the Holy One. My heart was touch and I began to smile. It brings back the memory of how the first time I found this Church on Christmas eve 2004. The same excitement and peacefulness I feel today while listening to the message of God through the Pastor sermon with what I feel back then. Of how at that time I feel that God has speaking to me through His servant during the sermon, I experience same way today. God has reveal His love to me through the message I hear today to restore my life and to bring me back closer to Him. It is so good to be back after sometime missing attending the sermon at this Church. It is a good feeling to be in the House of God and to see some familiar faces. The First Baptist Church of Washington DC has done a lot of good deeds for the community around it. This Church has been involved with helping the unfortunate, such as homeless people by providing food and clothing and has provide shelter to them. And the most important thing is every time I come back to this Church, I feel home. I feel I am among my family. I can see their beautiful soul embracing my presence at Church. As I usually do after the sermon, I go mingle with some of the Church member at the fellowship room to have a fun conversation and enjoying my cake and yummy coffee that been poured into those fabulous china tea cups. Those pretty cups, my favorites! :) From time to time, I attend the Church splendid luncheon, as well as attending the classic but fun concert at this Church. And within the next two weeks, on October 24th at 4 pm, Thomas Pandolfi, the classical pianist, Juilliard music school graduate, will held his concert here. And I am planning to attend. :) As much as I enjoy and love a modern mega church, the same feel I have about this Classic and elegant Church. I feel home. Giving me this wonderful feeling, and remind me of this lovely worship song... As for me God came and found me As for me He took home As for me He gave me a family And I never walk alone God is in the house, there is no doubt God is in the house, can't keep Him out As for me and my house, we're gonna to serve the Lord! :)

St. Columba's is an extremely welcoming, inclusive, open church. Holy moley, it's big! But it's not a mega church, or even close. It's a fairly liberal episcopalian church with an intellectual edge. But you don't need to be episcopalian, or subscribe to any particular beliefs, or be of any race, color, creed or sexual orientation, in order to participate fully here. If you like traditional services with all the trappings, this is the place. If you have kids and want a pared-down service that's strictly for kids, this is also the place. (There are tons of young families, but also plenty of singles, so you won't feel like a fish out of water if you go.) Probably the major draw for most people at St. C's is the music, which is truly phenomenal and professional quality. Chose from among a zillion choirs: boys choir, girls choir, boys and girls choir, adult choir, instrumental ensembles, several bell choirs (yours truly belongs to one of them), music theory classes, and more. The sermons are generally engaging and intellectual, two non-negotiables for me. Outside speakers are regularly brought in to discuss a wide range of issues. This past Sunday, the "Newshour"'s Ray Suarez (a member) discussed his new book, "The Holy Vote." There are tons of outreach programs, so you can feed the homeless, save the planet, mentor disadvantaged kids--name it and claim it. St. C's can be daunting to the uninitiated, but as with most things in life, you need to take the first step and join a group if you want to meet people or learn a new skill. Oh, and they have a rockin' playground.
