I knew he wanted to be cremated and placed in the memorial wall at the Barrancas Cemetery in Pensacola NAS. So I did a Google search, I saw that this place was the closest funeral home to NAS that was open, and I figured that they've done the Barrancas thing before, so I called them. What followed next was service that was so wonderful that it took a huge load off of my mind. During our initial meeting, everyone was so kind and delivered customer service like Chick-fil-A employees. They have different service packages based on the amount of life insurance there is, which is actually pretty nice, because you don't even get bothered with seeing the various boxes or flower arrangements that you can't afford. I hate to talk about it so nonchalantly, but it was like building a burger at a gourmet burger restaurant. We just went down the list checking off stuff together. The box, the flowers, the prayer cards, the catering packages. It was really easy and nice. They will take your photos, digital or tangible, and add them all to the slide show at the service for you. So you don't have to worry about scanning them all yourself. Also, side note, if you have some real photos that you've been watching to make digital, just give them a flash drive during the photo process and they'll put them all on it for you. So nice. The actual service itself went seamlessly. We showed up and everything was set up perfectly. The priest we hired did a good job, and the funeral home was able to coordinate wonderfully with the full Naval honors that he was given due to his service. The catering was laid out for us and the staff there was going around asking everyone if they needed anything, taking trash from us, and just being super helpful in general. Overall, this place was perfect. I couldn't imagine them going anymore above and beyond for me and my family during our time of turmoil. If you're looking for somewhere to go and you're reading this review, call them. I vouch for them.

My parents are 86 and 87 years of age and were overwhelmed with the loss as well as with preparing for the impending road trip from Jacksonville to Pensacola for the funeral. My mom was the closest living relative and as her eldest child, I found myself in the position of making all of the arrangements- asking my parents for input (like when choosing between different floral arrangements and what should be included in the obituary) but more or less having to spearhead everything for them. I am beyond fortunate to have never had to plan a funeral in my life up until then- but because of that, I had absolutely no clue of where to start. I found out from the staff at my aunt's memory care residence that this chapel was handling the arrangements. When I called, the Funeral Director Beverly Thompson was the first person with whom I spoke. She was so professional and experienced and so kind to me on the phone while she was guiding me through what needed to be done and in what order. I literally asked her what was the first thing they needed to start the process of arranging the funeral (first they needed permission to embalm) - and then over the next few days we worked through the whole process together- starting with choosing a date for the service working around when the chapel AND my aunt's pastor would be available. My late uncle and aunt had preplanned/chosen and prepaid years ago for almost everything connected with a service and burial. They had secured the plot and headstone, chosen coffins, chosen the design and type of lettering for the footmarker. This made the process so much easier for my parents- choosing clothing and flowers for the casket was more than enough for them to handle. Beverly Thompson had the timeline nailed down for every single detail- everything from when they needed the clothing- to choosing the photo for the obituary and making sure we met the deadline for getting it into the newspaper in time- to choosing the cover art and text for inside the memorial leaflets to be handed out. She edited the obituary to make it read more smoothly- was incredibly consistent in returning phone calls if she was working with another family when I called- and then on the day of the service, she was onsite the whole time to coordinate and handle everything inside the chapel, to guide the friends and family from the chapel to the gravesite- she was with us all the way through to when the graveside part of the service was finished. They even had transportation lined up from the chapel to the gravesite for those who were older/unable to walk the distance. Backtracking a bit- when I visited the chapel on the day before the service, the room was decorated and set up with round tables- prepared for a gathering to celebrate and remember the life of an individual who had been cremated. There was a long table at each end of the room with pictures and mementos of the person- such a sweet and peaceful atmosphere for this type of a gathering. I thought it was so nice - yet I knew that my parents and other relatives as well as my aunt's friends would be expecting that room to look more like the inside of a church when time came for her funeral service. Ms Thompson and the staff literally transformed the room overnight into exactly what my parents would expect- with chairs lined up in rows, the piano in front, the flowers and plants carefully arranged- and I am still so grateful for their handling this so quickly and kindly. EVERYONE with whom I came into contact whether on the phone or in person- during the planning process while we were hitting the deadlines, during the actual funeral or then afterward as we were ordering and placing the marble footmarker- has gone above and beyond to make this process as smooth and easy as possible. Fantastic communication and follow-through. I was never alone - they were always as close as the phone. I can't imagine if I had been in the position of assisting my parents and working our way through this without their knowledge and guidance and care. And this stellar service and care and attention to detail has continued in the months after the service was finished and the burial was completed. After the footmarker was finished and placed, Marlon actually went out to the gravesite and took pictures and texted them to me so I could show my parents the finished product. My highest recommendation for Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel for anyone who might be in need of this type of service in the future. There aren't enough words to say how much I appreciate all of you- your advice and guidance and the smoothness with which you handled everything. Your team is excellent- the perfect combination of care + professionalism/ experience + kindness. Thank you from the deepest part of my heart for everything you did for us.

My mothers health crisis, and death was extremely unexpected and when I arrived at the funeral home, I was treated with the utmost respect by the staff. Justin, Malachi, etc we're all consummate professionals from the very beginning. Like many people that are confronted by the untimely decisions that come with an unexpected death..I was a bit emotional at the time everything transpired when I arrived at their business. They took the time to explain every decision to me, make sure I understood everything that I was signing, and helped me along with one of my friends pick out the stationary, the vault, casket, organize the services, etc. They and their staff were constantly available to answer any and ALL questions I had which took a huge amount of stress off of my shoulders. It was also extremely convenient how I was able to upload the selections of the songs that were played in rotation at the memorial, as well as the pictures on the website for the chapel services. After the graveside service by my moms chosen pastor they remained in contact to answer other questions that I had regarding followups about the death certificates as well. In addition, they worked to get the funeral done in a professional expedient manner despite the fact that it was a holiday weekend. They actually called Beal Memorial cemetery ahead of time - to make sure that the manager was on staff so I could set up everything there. I made it there with an hour to spare! If I could give both them and their staff 10 STARS I would.
