I've had two children attend Boise High and I'm a fan. If your child is an apt student, BHS will…read morehelp them succeed and find a spot in a good college. The student body is a little hard to pin down; this is not a school where jocks and cheerleader-types rule...individualism reigns. Groups are less discrete with a lot of blurring of the lines. If there are divisions, they're more academic, with the college-bound kids knowing each other from class, and the same for the less-academic kids. One reason for BHS's success is the culture in the elementary and junior high schools that feed into it. These kids come to BHS knowing that making good grades is not uncool and what they should be doing to earn them.

This keeps them from having to send in the am to a daycare, have him transported to school, picked up by the daycare at school and transported back. E-Sage has been fun for him and he has learned so much from their programs. We have liked both his 5k and his 1st grade teachers and he is happy and learning. Couldn't ask for more. I also like the top stop of the classroom sizes.

My family moved to Idaho pre COVID, and have been attending CVCS for 6 or 7 years. (Time flies.) We…read morecurrently have all our kids enrolled, and we love the education they are getting, both academically and spiritually. With many Christian schools, it seems that faith is put on top of curriculum, like frosting on a cake. I've seen at CVCS that faith is baked into the cake itself. For example, every parent/teacher conference is opened in prayer, each child is prayed over when considering classroom placement, and Christianity permeates every aspect of academics and social activities. If you live in the Treasure Valley and want a solid education for your kids, as well as having them surrounded by positive role models, I strongly recommend Cole Valley!

Mixed bag here...for being in Boise this school is incredibly "woke." First day in 6th grade they…read moreasked my child their "personal pronouns." In 7th grade art class the assignment was to write a report on a contemporary artist. My child was told their pick was "too white male." My child was subsequently instructed to choose a BIPOC artist, with extra points if they were "queer." My complaints regarding this fell on deaf ears. Many of the teachers are pretty decent, but the school tilts WAY to the left. The non-woke portions of the curriculum are good, especially the math and outdoor-centric programs. However, we did put our son in a different international school and he was way behind in Chemistry, Physics, and Biology. His new school has these as stand-alone classes starting in Grade 5. Not so at Riverstone.

The reason for the low score of Three stars is the professionalism of a few teaches. They don't appear to be welcoming to all parents. When greeted with a smile and a cheerful, "good morning" the teacher's response is a sneer and a grunt without even looking up. I'm fairly confident it is not with all parents, because I have heard great things about Mrs. Wimer and Mrs. May and they do put on a good show but not real. They preach "Be kind" but they are anything but kind and in my experience they just grunt. Just a bit cliquish for my taste.

I used to go here. It was terrible. They have a slogan of kindness and being kind when in reality…read moreall the teachers are rude and the staff is cold and in favor of teachers all the time. For example, ms Tina. She is a duty that is around kids all the time. She is not a role model and I'm pretty sure she hates kids. She has screamed at kids for no reason at all. 1 time a kindergartener threw snow ( they had a ridiculous rule that forbid throwing snow) she got mad and he tried to explain himself. She told him to shut up and go sit in the corner. HORRIBLE ROLEMODEL. Another story is when I was in 5th grade I had ms mills as a teacher. She is retired now. But when she was my teacher the class was being loud as 5th graders do and instead of telling is to be quite or clapping or something. She started screaming, "SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP, YOUR BEING A BUNCH OF LITTLE IDIOTS!!!". And to make matters worse. There was no punishment to her. Not even a slap on the wrist. And I know a lot of other teachers like that but I don't want to make this story an hour long. Long story short don't send your kids here. Just don't. Horrible teachers, horrible staff, horrible school. Don't even get me started on the principal. Ms severson. She is a very Mormon women who dress codes everyone. For anything. DONT PUT YOUR KIDS IN THIS SCHOOL EVER!!!!!!
